5 Ways to Take a Virtual Disney Vacation from Your Home

Thousands of guests have had to cancel or reschedule their Disney vacations this spring due to the global pandemic. Many were planning to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, first visit, or just being at Disney. We could all use some pixie dust and Disney magic to lift our spirits during these trying times. We have five ways that you can take a virtual Disney vacation from your own home while the parks are closed.

Virtual Disney Vacation

Set the Scene

You need to get all ready for your virtual Disney vacation! You and your home need to look the part!

Order a backdrop of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland or backdrop of Cinderella Castle at Disney World so you can feel like you’re in the middle of the magic. You will also need some music for your day! Check out the Disney Parks hits on Apple Music. You can also order the Walt Disney World Official Album or the Disney Theme Parks Classics CD.

Don’t forget to wear your Mickey ears or Minnie ear headbands! There are so many cute Minnie ear headbands available like these mint green ears with a pink bow, magic mirror metallic ears, flower ears, Epcot inspired with German flag ears, Buzz Lightyear ears, navy blue with pink polka dot ears, Mardi Gras ears, millennial pink ears, Disney Parks 2020 ears, or birthday ears.

You’ll also want your Disney shirts! Some of our favorites include this Never Grow Up shirt, “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” shirt, Minnie Mouse polka dot t-shirt, Pizza Planet shirt, boys Toy Story shirts, Mickey Mouse sunset shirt, Hakuna Matata shirt, girls Disney Princess shirts, Star Wars shirt, and Villains shirt. This “I’m done adulting, let’s go to Disney” shirt may sum up all our sentiments perfectly.

You can also read about how the magic is made throughout the parks and resorts with the new One Day at Disney book.

Scattered around Disney California Adventure Park, you’ll find a variety of marketplaces with menus featuring everything from hand-selected wines and craft beers to plant-based dishes, regional recipes, and more that will delight your taste buds. And in addition, several restaurants, including Paradise Garden Grill and even several restaurants at the Downtown Disney District, are also joining in on the fun with special offerings available only during the festival.

While you’re wandering the festival, you’ll definitely want to grab a Festival Tasting Passport, which contains every menu throughout the marketplaces as well as important information about events, exclusive merchandise, and more. You also have the option of purchasing a Sip and Savor Pass! This special pass allows you to explore your way through the festival with a souvenir lanyard and credential with eight pull-off tabs. Each of these tabs is a coupon that can be redeemed for select food and beverage offerings at festival locations (excluding alcohol and souvenir items). Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park to Open July 18, 2020

From the Disney Parks Blog:

You will now be able to team up with some of your favorite Avengers at Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure park beginning July 18, 2020! Avengers Campus is comprised of several heroic locations—each hosted by a different Super Hero or their ally—to share their unique powers, technology and knowledge with recruits.

The Avengers campus at Disney California Adventure Park is set up by the Avengers to recruit the next generation of Super Heroes.

Sling webs with Spider-Man

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

Avengers Campus is home to the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – also known as “WEB” – which will house the new Spider-Man experience, the first Disney ride-through attraction to feature this iconic Super Hero. This new family-friendly attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, invites guests to put their web-slinging skills to the test.

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

During an open house at WEB, the aspiring inventors are excited to invite you for a test drive of their latest invention: the “Web Slinger” vehicle, which allows you to sling webs just like Spider-Man! The attraction gives you a taste of what it’s like to have actual super powers as you help Spider-Man collect Spider-Bots that have run amok.

The innovative technology adapted specifically for this attraction includes a seamless blend of 3D and new interface, which allows guests to go on a mission and experience what it’s like to have super powers and sling webs alongside Spider-Man.

“Suit up” with the latest gear, including Spider-Bots from WEB

The WEB Suppliers store is where you will find the latest WEB inventions, including interactive Spider-Bots much like the ones you will see in the new attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Each Spider-Bot has a remote control, and all eight articulated legs move forward and backward. Best of all, you can tap into your inner WEB inventor by customizing your Spider-Bot with tactical upgrades to harness the powers and styles of favorite Super Heroes, including Black Panther, Iron Man and Black Widow, as well as Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Other must-have items at WEB Suppliers include a specially-designed backpack to carry Spider-Bots when they are not in action, Spider-Man light goggles, a take-home spider web kit and Funko Pop! vinyl figurines of Spider-Man and Iron Man.

Nearby, the Campus Supply Pod is the place to power up with official Avengers Campus gear, including performance fleece hoodies and tees, headwear, drinkware and other Super Hero supplies.

Enjoy tiny treats and big bites

When it’s time to take a break from the heroics, three new dining spots at Avengers Campus will offer dishes that are rich in both flavor and storytelling.

Pym Test Kitchen is a food innovation science lab where the food and drinks tell a story. Just as Ant-Man and The Wasp use “Pym Particles” to grow and shrink just about anything, Pym Technologies applies this innovative science to the creation of shareable bites, inventive-sized entrees and sweet treats. You will be able to taste-test such items as the Impossible™ plant-based large and micro meatballs with pasta, or the “Pym-ini,” a panini served by the slice or as a long, multi-portion sandwich.

Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen, an oversized beer can overhead signals that grown-up beverage tastings are available at Pym Tasting Lab. Adults can order a craft beer, ranging from a blood orange hefeweizen to an amber lager or try one of the Pym Research Staff’s Pym Particle-infused cocktail experiments.

Next, the Avengers have invited the crew of their favorite “shawarma joint” in New York, the Shawarma Palace, to open a second location at the Campus. Enjoy favorite shawarma-inspired snacks at this food cart, which is decked out with memorabilia since the Shawarma Palace owners are huge Avenger fans. Lastly, Taneleer Tivan did not limit his collection to lovable misfits; he is also curating a weird and wonderful menu of intergalactic eats at the Terran Treats food cart near Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

Team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy

Speaking of, we will continue to celebrate Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, the fan-favorite attraction that opened in 2017, as one of the anchor attractions of Avengers Campus. This rockin’ adventure blasts you straight into the “Guardians of the Galaxy” story, alongside characters from the blockbuster films and comics. As you help Rocket bust his pals out of the Collector’s Fortress, you will experience raucous mayhem, music inspired by the soundtracks from the movies and thrilling free-fall drop sequences!

Encounter a formidable villain in a land full of heroes

Last but certainly not least, throughout Avengers Campus, Super Heroes will come to life in ways that are more exciting than ever. You may have heroic encounters with Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, Thor and even villains like Loki. We’re excited to also share that Ant-Man and The Wasp will be making their first appearances in the park, and Iron Man himself will be debuting his new armor in Avengers Campus: the Mark 80.

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

You may even have the chance to witness Spider-Man swinging into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never seen before in a Disney theme park.

At a nearby ancient sanctum, Doctor Strange will train recruits in the mystic arts by bringing this ancient sanctum to life with powerful spells. At night, the area glows even more vividly with majestic colors and lights, pulsating with mystic energy.

Finally, every hero needs a formidable villain to fight… the villainous Taskmaster, who will have a role in the upcoming film “Black Widow,” will be seen for the first time at a Disney park at Avengers Campus. Taskmaster’s abilities include photographic reflexes. Taskmaster can replicate Super Hero moves, making this new villain a balanced foe for the Campus heroes.

As Super Heroes continue to assemble at the campus, one of its iconic buildings will be the Avengers Headquarters where you should be on the lookout for Avengers in action.

Other exciting stops on Greek Isles itineraries include Katakolon near ancient Olympia – home to the first Olympic Games – and the gorgeous Greek island of Kefalonia, a first-time port of call for Disney Cruise Line.

If landing in a medieval city with spectacular seaside views and centuries-old cobblestoned lanes to explore is on your bucket list, then it would be a shame to miss a cruise that includes Dubrovnik, Croatia. One nine-night Alaskan adventure will visit Hubbard Glacier, Icy Strait Point, Sitka, Juneau and Ketchikan. A special five-night cruise will travel to Dawes Glacier and Ketchikan.

Each Alaska sailing will offer adventure and fun with breathtaking natural vistas, glaciers, wildlife, exciting Port Adventures and special Disney touches that will bring the splendor and spirit of “The Last Frontier” to life onboard.

Tropical Vacations to the Caribbean and Bahamas

In summer 2021, Disney Cruise Line will sail to tropical destinations in the Caribbean and Bahamas. There, you can relax and experience charming island cultures, sunbathe on golden beaches and revel in local marketplaces. Ranging from three- to nine-night sailings from Port Canaveral, most of these itineraries include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

In addition to seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises, the Disney Fantasy will embark on an assortment of itineraries to the Bahamas and Caribbean ranging from three to nine nights.
