Your Ultimate Guide to Planning a Magical Disneyland Vacation

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, embarking on the vacation of a lifetime, or simply craving a day of fun, Disneyland Resort is the perfect place to escape and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones. And with the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration kicking off on May 16, 2025, now is an especially exciting time to plan your visit!

But, once you’ve decided to make the trip, what’s next? Here’s your guide to booking a Disneyland vacation that suits your style and budget, from tickets and hotel stays to dining and experiences.

Building Your Own Disneyland Vacation Package

One of the easiest ways to plan your trip is by creating a custom vacation package on Disneyland.com. These packages combine accommodations, multi-day theme park tickets, and special benefits tailored to your preferences.

Start by reserving a room at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels:

  • Disneyland Hotel
  • Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
  • Pixar Place Hotel

Next, add multi-day theme park tickets and make your park reservations. You can also include extras like car rentals and ground transportation. If you’re open to staying off-site, select Disney-approved Good Neighbor Hotels offer packages that include rooms and theme park tickets.

Bonus! Staying overnight at a Disneyland Resort hotel comes with perks such as:

  • Convenient theme park access
  • Early theme park entry
  • Special activities during certain times of the year

Packages booked directly through the Walt Disney Travel Company also include benefits like 10% off at select dining and merchandise locations in the Downtown Disney District, plus a special commemorative pin and lanyard.

Planning Tickets, Dining, and Experiences Separately

If you prefer flexibility, you can research and book tickets, Magic Key annual passes, theme park reservations, hotel stays, and dining reservations separately through Disneyland.com or the Disneyland app.

Remember: Every guest ages 3 and up must have a valid theme park ticket AND a park reservation for the same park and date. Because reservations can fill quickly, it’s best to check availability early — park reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance!

Once you have your tickets and reservations locked in, plan the perfect itinerary by exploring the official hours and events calendar, attraction lists, and entertainment updates available on Disneyland’s website.

Don’t Forget to Book Dining and Special Experiences!

Dining and certain experiences require advance reservations, often as early as 60 days before your visit. This is especially true for:

  • Table-service restaurants
  • Dining packages
  • Unique experiences like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers

Booking early ensures you snag your spot at coveted dining locations and unforgettable activities.

Save on Your Trip

Throughout the year, keep an eye out for promotional deals and discounts that can help stretch your vacation budget further.

Planning a Disneyland vacation is part of the magic! With so many options—from customizable vacation packages to separately booked tickets and experiences—you have full control to create an itinerary that fits your dreams. And, with the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration just around the corner, the magic and excitement have never been greater.

Ready to start planning your perfect Disneyland getaway? Whether you want help booking the entire trip or just need expert advice on dining and tickets, I’m here to assist you every step of the way. Let’s make your Disneyland vacation truly unforgettable!

At Disneyland park, nostalgic holiday magic shines brightly with the glistening Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle and a 60-foot Christmas tree on Main Street, U.S.A. Both make wonderful photo locations for that cherished memory of your Holiday visit.

Entertainment making a comeback this year at the park includes “A Christmas Fantasy” parade where beloved Disney characters join Santa Claus for a merry musical celebration down Main Street, U.S.A. You may also see Santa making other stops within the parks throughout your visit. For the perfect kiss goodnight, you will be treated to “Believe … in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular and magical snowfall over portions of Main Street, U.S.A. Additionally, seasonal transformations will happen once again at “it’s a small world” Holiday and the 20th installation of Haunted Mansion Holiday.

At Paradise Gardens, you’ll enjoy festively themed food and beverages, live music and dance, and later in the holiday season, Mirabel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming film “Encanto” will make her park debut.

Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

Over in Cars Land, the four-wheeled residents will be pulling out all the stops with their holiday décor. From the snow-covered billboard at the entrance all the way to the hubcap-studded tree at the courthouse, you will see automotive ornamentation at its finest along Route 66. And for a little more festive magic two popular attractions will transform into Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.
