Five Reasons to Visit Buena Vista Street During the Holidays

One of the best places at Disneyland Resort to visit during the holidays is Buena Vista Street. This beautiful entrance to Disney California Adventure Park is reminiscent of Los Angeles in the 1920’s and 1930’s. During Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, the decor becomes even more spectacular. Here are our top five reasons you should visit Buena Vista Street during the holidays.

1. The Christmas Tree

Holiday decor DCA

There is a magnificent 50 foot Christmas tree right behind the “Storytellers” statue. This beautiful tree is “the can’t-miss sight of the season on Buena Vista Street.” The tree is covered with charming, vintage-style ornaments that pay tribute to Christmas in the 1920s and ‘30s.

2. Santa Claus

You can meet Santa Claus himself in a classic department store setting at Elias & Co.

3. Carol of the Bells

You can listen to or even join in a carol with the Buena Vista Street Community Bell Ringers. Throughout the day, they perform renditions of classic Christmas carols, accompanied by handbells.

4. The Decorations

In addition to the vintage-style ornaments on the 50 foot Christmas tree, the 1920s and ‘30s theme continues all the way down the street with garlands, ribbons and special decorations on the light poles, storefronts and even inside the stores. All the holiday decor combines to create the feeling of stepping back in time to Christmases of the past.

5. Character Meet and Greets

You can meet Mickey Mouse and his friends in their vintage-style attire.

What is your favorite part about the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort?

Frozen Fun at Disneyland Resort Begins January 7, 2015

Frozen has taken the country by storm and the phenomenon still seems to be getting stronger every day! Frozen will be coming to Disney California Adventure Park early next year when Frozen Fun at Disneyland Resort makes its West Coast debut on January 7, 2015. Frozen Fun at Disneyland will bring magical adventures with Frozen characters and brand new, immersive experiences that you won’t want to miss!

Check out the exciting events planned for Frozen Fun at Disney California Adventure Park:

  • “For the First Time in Forever – A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” – The Muppet*Vision 3D theater in Hollywood Land will be transformed for this event into the beautiful Crown Jewel Theatre from Arendelle. You can step inside and join the Arendelle Historians – along with special appearances by Anna, Elsa and Kristoff – for a fun and comedic retelling of the unique history of their kingdom, filled with delightful, sing-along moments from “Frozen.”

  • “Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome” – Anna and Elsa are moving from Fantasyland to an elegant new location inside the Disney Animation attraction at Disney California Adventure park, where you can meet them as part of a special royal greeting. The colorful and varied display in the Animation Courtyard will also now include scenes and music from “Frozen” and at Animation Academy, a Disney artist asks, “Do You Want to Draw a Snowman?” It’s a unique opportunity to learn how to draw your very own sketch of Olaf or Marshmallow.
  • “Freeze the Night! A Family Dance Party” – Every evening, you can “chill out” in Hollywood Land with music, dancing, interactive fun and more. You’ll arrive at the party through an icy archway to find wintry décor, dazzling lighting effects, cool photo spots, yummy treats and frosty beverages for all ages. Throughout the night, a giant thermometer registers the drop in temperature, as things get so cool they ultimately reach the freezing point when everyone lets it go in a spectacular “Frozen Fun” crescendo!

A sneak peek of many of these exciting experiences begins this Saturday, December 20! Starting January 7, 2015, the “Frozen Fun” officially opens at Disney California Adventure park, and a new “Frozen” show makes its debut in Fantasy Faire at Disneyland park.

The Royal Theatre’s resident storytellers, Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones, present the tale of “Frozen” in a fun-filled, fast-paced retelling of the story, featuring their own wacky performances in key roles, along with Anna, Elsa and the Faire Maidens. And when Mickey’s Soundsational Parade resumes daily performances January 7, Anna and Elsa will once again make pre-parade appearances on their own special float.

When Storybook Land Canal Boats returns later this month, there will be a new excursions through the world of “Frozen” offering views of the fjord-side village of Arendelle, including the stately castle where Anna and Elsa grew up, Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post, and Elsa’s mountaintop ice palace. The miniature locales of “Frozen” will find a new home among the familiar scenes of some of Disney’s most enduring and timeless fairy tales, including “Pinocchio,” “Cinderella,” “Aladdin,” and “The Little Mermaid.”

Plus, don’t forget about Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink though February 22, 2015 and the new Anna and Elsa’s Boutique, both now open now at Downtown Disney District. For “Frozen” fans, there’s never been a better time to visit Disneyland Resort! Which of these new experiences are you most excited to see?

Tips for Watching A Christmas Fantasy Parade at Disneyland

disneyland christmas parade

Ever since its premiere in 1995 at Disneyland park, A Christmas Fantasy Parade has been a must-see for guests during the holidays at the Disneyland Resort. Whether it’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse ice skating, Santa Claus and his reindeer, or the beloved toy soldiers, every member of the family has a favorite part of this classic parade. Here are some tips for making the most of this popular holiday time offering:

  • Watch the parade from an alternative viewing location – The most popular areas to watch “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade are either on Main Street, U.S.A., or near “it’s a small world” in Fantasyland. Consider other locations that may have available space, such as near the Matterhorn or in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. Also consider watching the parade from an elevated location, like the Main Street Train Station – you can get fantastic views of the parade from a unique vantage point. Plus, you’ll almost be at eye level with Santa Claus during his big finale!
  • Arrive early – If you know where you’d like to view the parade, make sure you arrive early! Once you arrive in your ideal spot, consider asking a member of your party to pick up some hot cocoa or churros for the group to enjoy while you wait for the parade.
  • Be patient – Remember, it may take several minutes from the listed parade time for the iconic toy soldiers, teddy bear and ballerina to reach your viewing location. But as soon as you hear the music start, know the parade is just minutes away!
  • And if you’re not viewing the parade – If you would prefer to experience one of your favorite attractions or enjoy a meal rather than watch the parade, don’t miss this tip! If you need to cross the parade route to get to another destination, just ask one of the cast members carrying an orange baton where to find the nearest crossing, and they will point you in the right direction.
