But deciding which glorious stretch of sand is a good fit for your family isn’t always easy. Here are the top ten beaches you can visit on a Disney Cruise Line vacation.

1. Castaway Family Beach, Castaway Cay (Bahamas) Most cruises from Florida include a stop at our private island, Castaway Cay, and if you’re traveling with little ones, Castaway Family Beach is the perfect spot for you. The beach is lined with umbrellas, chairs and hammocks for your complimentary use, and the water is sectioned off for swimming, floating and snorkeling. Plus, the Pelican Plunge water slide is within swimming distance from shore and the all-you-care-to-eat lunch buffet is steps away.
2. Blue Lagoon Island, Nassau (Bahamas) This spectacular private island is just a half-hour boat ride from the port of Nassau. We offer several excursions there with different options for what your family would like to do, whether that’s swimming with dolphins, snuggling with sea lions or swaying in hammocks! The family-owned island has all of the amenities you need, yet it’s set apart by its untouched natural environment and authentic Bahamian experience.
3. Playa Mia, Cozumel (Mexico) With its water park, water trampolines and water bicycles (just to name a few!), Playa Mia is an active family’s paradise on the island of Cozumel. The full-facility beach also has plenty of space where you can relax, including lounge chairs both on the beach and by the pool. Our Cozumel Beach Break excursion is a convenient way to get time at this popular locale, with a delicious lunch buffet included!
4. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands) Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman is famous for its long stretch of coral sand and clear blue water, and it’s just a short ride from the port. On our Family Beach Day at Tiki Beach Port Adventure, you’ll have access to full amenities there, including lounge chairs, fresh-water showers, a restaurant and not to mention a gorgeous view!
5. Magen’s Bay Beach, St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands) With its calm waters and half-mile stretch of white sand, Magen’s Bay is home to St. Thomas’ premier beach. The beachside café in this untouched environment makes it a great option for families, especially on our Magens Bay Beach Break excursion, which also includes a stop at Drake’s Seat to enjoy the panoramic view of the bay.
7. Isla Verde Beach, San Juan (Puerto Rico) Isla Verde Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico is especially popular for families with its gentle waves, huge expanse of white sand and access to amenities. If you’re visiting San Juan during your cruise, you can join our Isla Verde Beach Escape or our San Juan Family Beach Day, both including a lunch buffet and the chance to play beach volleyball!
8. Rose Hall Beach, Falmouth (Jamaica) Rose Hall Beach in Jamaica is home to several upscale resorts, adding an air of exclusivity to this beautiful stretch of sand. 9. Cane Garden Bay Beach, Tortola (British Virgin Islands) Tortola’s Cane Garden Bay is considered by many to be finest beach on the island. Restaurants, bars and shops are steps from the beach, making it an ideal spot for families. 10. Crandon Park Beach, Miami (Florida) Miami is one of our homeports for cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean, and no visit there is complete without stopping by one of the area beaches. My top pick for families is Crandon Park Beach, located on Key Biscayne in front of a sandbar that keeps the surf calm. This park also has an amusement center, picnic areas and plenty of other amenities for a comfortable family beach day.

1. Mickey’s Tree-Lighting Magic
When you walk onto your Disney Cruise Line ship on day one, your eyes will likely be immediately drawn to the three-deck-tall Christmas tree in the atrium. And while there is garland and other décor filling every nook and cranny, you also may notice one more thing – the lights aren’t on! Once you’re sailing off into the sunset, however, many of your favorite Disney characters will join you to change all of that. With holiday music, stories from different cultures as told by crew members and special opportunities for kids to get involved, this tree-lighting ceremony is much more than just an opportunity to make these festive lights come to life!

2. Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball
What’s a holiday cruise without Santa and Mrs. Claus? That’s right, usher in these very special guests on each Very Merrytime sailing at Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball. 4. Did someone say gingerbread?
Did you know that each Disney Cruise Line ship features a life-size gingerbread house in the atrium? Each year, all four ships in the fleet create a unique house (from scratch!) and compete against each other for the most creative and whimsical creation. And while the competition has become an annual rite of passage Disney Cruise Line, it also fills the atrium of each ship with the smell of fresh gingerbread. If you want to try your hand at your own creation, be sure to check out the gingerbread cookie decorating classes offered onboard! Unlike the one in the atrium – you can actually eat yours!

As I mentioned earlier, my favorite thing to do for the holidays is trade in white snow for the white sand beaches on Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island. But even though you may be in the Bahamas, this slice of paradise is decked for the holidays as well – with a tropical flair, of course! A massive Christmas tree, holiday island music and even “snow” flurries await your family, guaranteeing that the only “blue” you’ll be feeling this holiday season is the color of the crystal-clear waters!

One of the biggest reasons I like to sail out of Miami is the ship that resides in this port – the Disney Magic! I’m sure you know that this is the first ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, but did you know that it is home to unique offerings such as the AquaDunk (I dare you to take the plunge!), an exclusive Broadway-style show, “Tangled: The Musical,” and one of my favorite themed dining spaces, Rapunzel’s Royal Table? If you haven’t been onboard in a while, it’s time to get reacquainted with this classic ship!
Do you have any Marvel fans in your family? If so, Miami is the port for you! From January through March in 2020, the Disney Magic will sail exclusively out of this city on special Marvel Day at Sea sailings. During one special day at sea, the ship will be taken over by the Marvel universe. Picture it now: learn how to be like Captain America, meet Spider-Man, journey into the mystic arts with Doctor Strange and end your day with an action-packed entertainment stage show complete with fireworks fitting of – well, a super hero!

The Disney Wonder Returns to New Orleans
On sailings from New Orleans, you can experience the flavors and flair of the Big Easy both onboard the Disney Wonder and ashore. The sounds and sights of New Orleans will come to life at Tiana’s Place restaurant, where your family is transported to an era of southern charm, spirited jazz and street party celebrations with live music and other surprises inspired by the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.” Before or after your cruise, savor the city’s distinct cuisine, visit family-friendly museums and parks, and take in the sounds of world-renowned live jazz music.

2. Train with Doctor Strange. Have you ever wanted to learn about the mystic arts and join in the battle against the Dark Dimension? Here’s your chance! Meet Doctor Strange and try your hand at creating interdimensional portals and magic spells.
On the Disney Wonder, young guests get a special visit from Spider-Man while training at the Marvel Super Hero Academy in Disney’s Oceaneer Club. In one mission, Spider-Man appears in person to help children hone their spider senses by perfecting their skills of reflex, speed and sharp minds. 3. Enroll in the Marvel Super Hero Academy. Enter the top-secret command post of S.H.I.E.L.D. and participate in special secret agent training. At the Marvel Super Hero Academy, kids can learn the path to becoming worthy with Thor, and hone their reflexes, speed and intellect with Spider-Man.

1. Take advantage of all that’s included. Traveling with little ones on a Disney cruise is easier than ever with diaper disposal units, bottle warmers, bottle sterilizers, cribs, playpens and high chairs available complimentary for use during the voyage. Strollers are also available, but since there are a limited number, plan to bring your own – one that’s lightweight and foldable for ease of maneuvering and storing it on board. When you visit our private island, Castaway Cay, wagons are available at no charge to facilitate navigating the island’s sandy beaches with toddlers in tow. Most of these items are first-come, first-served, so be sure to add the request to your reservation before the cruise.

2. Reserve time in the nursery before you set sail. Inside “it’s a small world” nursery hosted by Huggies, trained counselors care for and entertain infants and toddlers up to age 3 with toys, books, videos, crafts and games. At the back of the nursery, a separate and serene room is reserved for naptime. The nursery offers some of the longest operating hours and some of the lowest hourly rates for baby and toddler care in the cruise industry, allowing you to enjoy time on your own. You can roam the ship “worry-free,” thanks to an onboard mobile phone service that allows counselors to contact you anytime and anywhere on the ship. And if you want to peek in on your child without disturbing him or her, you can glimpse into the nursery’s main play area through a one-way window.

3. Check the Navigator for special activities and play areas. Toddler Time is a scheduled playtime where parents can join the fun. You can also play with your little one at Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Lab during Open House. If you have a crawler, do not miss Jack-Jack’s Diaper Dash in the atrium. I repeat, do not miss it! And for water babies, each ship has a fanciful water playground exclusively for toddlers up to age 3—and their parents, of course!

4. Let us help you make mealtime easier. For babies, you can request fresh pureed vegetables and meat, both in the main dining rooms and through room service. When ordering off the kids’ menu, your server will be happy to cut up the food into bite-sized pieces for your little one. And when you’re grabbing a quick bite out on deck, ask a Crew Member to grab a highchair for you. These are just a few of the things you can do to take the stress out of mealtime for your whole family.
