(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 27 is an event anticipated by many, and this year is no exception. With nine haunted houses, five scarezones and two live shows, I’d go ahead and pick up some throat soothing tea for the screams that are about to be had. But if you’re always searching for more scares, we have you covered with upgrades that will make this years’ Halloween Horror Nights one you’ll remember forever. I dare you to try these three eerie extras…

1. Make a Reservation For BOO

All that screaming takes a lot of energy. Fuel up for the fear at the Halloween Horror Nights Scareactor Dining Experience. Buy a ticket to reserve your table at the Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Cafe, the spooky restaurant whose décor pays homage to Universal’s horror movie history.

But what makes up the perfect pre-scare meal? I’m glad you asked. At this Scareactor Dining Experience, you’ll enjoy a special buffet menu unlike anything your mummy makes. And whatever you do, watch out for scareactors because you never know who could be right around the corner…

2. Say R.I.P. To The Person You Used to Be

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

If you live and breathe Halloween Horror Nights, the R.I.P. tour is to die for. This blood-red carpet treatment tour will have you buried in the benefits like: VIP entry to all haunted houses and participating park attractions, exclusive access to a pre-tour reception (with light appetizers and scareactor meet and greets), reserved seating at Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure,  a commemorative R.I.P. Tour credential and lanyard, exclusive cash bars and more.

For a Halloween Horror Nights first timer or long time alum, the R.I.P. Tour is so worth it.

3. Creep It Real at the Unmasking the Horror Tour

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

Are you dying to know what it takes for the Halloween Horror Nights Art and Design team to transform some of the biggest names in horror into immersive haunted houses? Then the Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour is for you. And, if you’re anything like me—and even a loud sneeze at the office makes you jump—this scareactor-free, lights-on daytime tour is right up your alley.

Each tour features a guided walkthrough of select houses, shining a light on the darkness of Halloween Horror Nights. You’ll receive a commemorative Halloween Horror Nights lanyard and hear about all the creative efforts that go into delivering the spookiest experience possible. And for my fellow scaredy-cat, this tour is the perfect practice round to get you ready for the night of screams that is Halloween Horror Nights 27.

Trick ‘r Treat, The Purge, and More Coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2017

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

There is one aspect of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 2017 that no one can escape… the SCARE ZONES. They’re the first and last things you’ll experience at Halloween Horror Nights 2017, and there is no way to hide from the scares.

This Halloween Horror Nights 2017, you can join the celebration of blood and bone at what can only be called The Festival of the Deadliest – an ancient tradition from the depths of where nightmares are born.

A gathering of the most unearthly, hellish terrors has emerged from the darkest corners of despair. It calls to those who long for the thrill of the scare and wish to have their fears made real. You’ll be drawn like moths to a flame, and once you join this hallowed celebration, your nightmares will never end.

You’ll find the heart of the Festival on the streets of Hollywood in Universal Studios Florida, but its claws have spread throughout Horror Nights. Here’s what awaits you every night…

Trick ‘r Treat

First up, it’s time to make sure everyone understands the rules of the haunted holiday. Get a proper Halloween education in the Central Park scare zone inspired by the film Trick ‘r TreatWe’re excited to have Sam visit and make sure we follow the rules of Halloween.

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

In this zone, you’ll have the opportunity to come face-to-face with several characters from the film, and learn for yourself what happens when you don’t follow the rules.

The Purge

Next up, there is a returning story to the New York streets with The Purge. This time, the approach was to create a zone that showed how the events of a Purge night might play out in the streets.

There are some fan favorites returning such as the auction and a very polite gentleman. There will also be some new surprises in store. For example, how do you clean up all the mayhem on the streets during a Purge night? Visit the clean-crew up crew with their trusty wood chipper to find out. Just don’t get too close…

Altars of Horror

Near the front gate, on Avenue of the Stars, you will find Altars of Horror. This zone is exciting because it will bring something to the streets for horror fans that Universal has never done before.

In this zone, some of the larger than life characters featured in this year’s houses will have their own scare zone. A lot of work goes into bringing these iconic film characters to life in the houses. Now you’ll have the opportunity to get an even better look at them.

Invasion!

Set in a time decades ago, the docks in San Francisco find themselves the victim of an INVASION! Visitors from far beyond have crashed their vessel, and are now wreaking havoc on the streets of San Francisco.

They aren’t just here to destroy; these invaders are also on a mission to learn everything they can about us humans. Careful, or you may find yourself on the experiment table at the mercy of an alien scientist.

Roaming Hordes

Lastly, no Halloween Horror Nights would be complete without roaming hordes. This time, it’s the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the chainsaw. Unhappy with how popular culture has made clowns scary, this grotesque gang of gigglers has risen from the grave determined to show the world that if you want scary clowns, they’re going to make sure you get your worst nightmare.

ACADEMY OF VILLAINS: AFTERLIFE

But wait! There’s more. The question is, “can you handle more?” The ACADEMY OF VILLAINS: AFTERLIFE will be returning to put on an all-new killer performance. This group of powerhouse artists will make you bear witness to what happens after we leave this life. They’re going to give you one mind-blowing and shocking dance performance that will escort you from this world to the great beyond.

As you can see, the streets will be alive with plenty of horror, mayhem and celebration at Halloween Horror Nights 2017! Be sure to purchase your tickets or book your vacation package today!

One great ticket option is the Halloween Horror Nights Flex Ticket, which conveniently allows you to scream your hearts out on any one Sunday through Friday or Sunday through Saturday event night.

One of my favorite vacation packages allows me to have a vacation in the heart of horror at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort for two nights starting at $225. If you are a huge horror buff, being able to stay close to the horror at one of Universal Orlando’s on-site hotels will be an incredible experience that you can’t pass up.

And you know what’s even better? By staying on-site, you’ll be able to get into one of Universal’s theme parks one hour before the park opens with Early Park Admission, as well as get special access to a dedicated Halloween Horror Nights entry gate each event night until 8p.m.

See The Shining at Halloween Horror Nights 27 at Universal Orlando Resort

When bringing iconic horror films to life at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights, a common question we find ourselves asking is, “How the heck are we going to turn this movie into a haunted house?” But, hey—we’re always up for a challenge. This year is no different. Universal Orlando Resort bringing The Shining to Halloween Horror Nights 27.

There are so many intense and creepy moments packed in the whole film. So we held hands, took a deep breath, and entered the Overlook Hotel.

I just finished looking at some of the house designs and am thrilled by the story we’re telling. It will be the warped psychological thriller you know and love with our own Halloween Horror Nights twist.

We cast the Overlook Hotel as the aggressor and view it as if you have the “shining.” Our goal is to have you constantly doing a double take and give you that, “Did I just see that?” feeling.

After watching this movie for the first time I remember saying, “I would never go into room 237.” So, of course, that’s where we’re going to take you: all the places you shouldn’t go.

You’ll come face-to-face with the murderous, ghostly entities around every corner. And of course, the best part will be trying to escape the sharpened edge of an axe.

I can’t wait for you all to see what’s in store for you with The Shining at Halloween Horror Nights 27. You won’t want to miss it, so make sure to grab your tickets and book your Halloween Horror Nights vacation package now.

Experience The Walking Dead at Halloween Horror Nights 26

Experience The Walking Dead at Halloween Horror Nights 26

The bloodthirsty hordes of AMC’s The Walking Dead return to Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights in a whole new way. For this year’s maze, Universal Orlando Resort is taking fan favorite moments and iconic Walkers from all six seasons and packing them into one terrifying maze.

The Walking Dead mazes that Universal has created over the past four years had guests screaming with terror as they found themselves in the most iconic horrifying scenes from the show.

This year, you’ll struggle to escape from the iconic barn, get reacquainted with a macabre Walker collection housed in fishtanks, race through Terminus and end up in the sewers of Alexandria. We’re pulling all of the creepiest environments from our past mazes—like the horde of Walkers in the forest during a lighting storm, which always had guests running and screaming!

Lastly, Universal will tackle this past season, which upped the ante for all survivors. You’ll enter Alexandria from the nasty sewers and find yourself in the middle of the chaotic battle against the ferocious Wolves. And… don’t be surprised if the sounds of whistling Saviors follow you into the night.

Are you going to experience The Walking Dead at Halloween Horror Nights 26?

Scareactor Dining Care taker Usher clown body collector Monsters Cafe Premium Products HHN25 Halloween Horror Nights Pumpkinhead

Halloween Horror Nights Scareactor Dining Experience is BACK by popular demand. Feast upon this all-you-care-to-eat dinner buffet with a twist.

When the park closes to day guests—and Halloween Horror Nights unleashes the terror from within—Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Cafe gets infested by bloodcurdling creatures skulking behind every corner.

This is the picture-perfect way to fuel up for the fear, giving you the energy to take on all the menacing souls waiting to terrorize y’all’s neighborhood.

This year’s menu features:

  • Eerie entrees from sliced pork loin and chicken marsala to penne pasta
  • Satisfying sides including mashed potatoes and broccoli
  • Vegetarian options are also available like salads

And we can’t forget about my favorite course, dessert! There’s no shortage of them here from apple and key lime pies to brookies.

This menu seriously features everything but the kitchen sink (and pea soup, for obvious reasons)!

Now food is only half of this experience. If you’re like me, you love a good selfie. And it’s kind of impossible to get one in the streets when you’re busy running for your life from the most terrifying monsters you’ve ever seen.

This is where I am sold on the Scareactor Dining Experience: you can get your picture with some of this year’s most popular scareactors including the one, the only, mistress of mayhem—Chance! (You want to see scary? Imagine face-swapping with her…)

Halloween Horror Nights Scareactor Dining Experience is $49.99 plus tax, per person and includes an all-you-care-to-eat buffet along with a digital download of one photo taken during the experience. Be sure to book in advance because there is limited availability for each seating on select event nights. Halloween Horror Nights ticket and Dining Reservations are required and must be valid for the same day.

Are you going to add the Halloween Horror Nights Scareactor Dining Experience to your Halloween Horror Nights adventure?

American Horror Story: The Last House for Halloween Horror Nights 26

439579-UO-HHN-2016-AHS-Digital-Assets_1440x900_FM2-340x213

American Horror Story: The Last House for Halloween Horror Nights 26

It’s pretty impressive what Universal has been able to assemble for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort. Universal has finally revealed the last house for Halloween Horror Nights 26 – FX’s American Horror Story. This all-new house will feature Season 1: Murder House, Season 4: Freak Show, and Season 5: Hotel.

Since this fantastic series began, Universal has been watching and calculating how – if ever given the chance – they would translate it into a haunted experience. The most engaging aspect of American Horror Story is the fact that every season is a completely new storyline, with brand new environments and characters, not unlike Halloween Horror Nights.

First, Universal needed to decide how to capture all of that content into a single house. The uber-maze or larger template Universal has adopted, most recently with their popular 25th Anniversary maze last year, was the most ideal format.

You’ll be confronted by the horrors that reside within the walls of the newly bought Harmon residence and evade the abominations that call its basement home.

You’ll witness the atrocities that befell many of the unfortunate souls of a roadside Freak Show and encounter Twisty, a maniacal and deformed clown performer.

Lastly, you will check into the Hotel Cortez and unlock the domain of The Countess, as she ensures your stay is anything but pleasant.

These three seasons will be vividly recreated in every detail – environments characters and moments. Universal has even worked extremely close with the series creator, Ryan Murphy and 20th Century Fox, to insure it captures the series in every way possible.

This reveal rounds out the most eclectic slate of brands we’ve ever had. Combined with Universal’s original content houses, scare zone, and show slate, Halloween Horror Nights 26 is looking to be one for the books.

You won’t want to miss this year’s event so make sure to book your Universal Orlando vacation and grab your tickets now!

Chance Returns to Halloween Horror Nights 26 at Universal Orlando

Chance-the-Clown-HHN-26-2-1170x731

Chance Returns to Halloween Horror Nights 26 at Universal Orlando

Halloween Horror Nights 25 was a monumental success. The designers quickly realized that they had a unique opportunity to elevate someone from “deadly sidekick” into “event icon”—Chance!

Who better to take Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights by the throat than someone who has been influenced by Jack, learned from him? But someone who brings with her a new environment and tone to the event.

Halloween Horror Nights 26 literally takes place where we left off. The aftermath of the carnage is still fresh and Chance finds herself incarcerated for the crimes of last year. With the “Jack in the Box” on an evidence shelf somewhere waiting for someone to turn the crank once more, Chance bides her time within her cell.

But this is not a tragedy for her. This prison is a toy box. It’s within the confines of her cell that she enters her horrific “theatre of the mind”. She knows that the acts committed inside her mind will manifest in the real. Both equally deranged and gothically beautiful.

So, there are two very distinct states of mind for Chance—as well as two distinct looks. Terror itself, ripped in half… the shockingly real and the grotesquely imagined. This is an evolved Chance taking her rightful place atop Halloween Horror Nights.

How these worlds collide and the amazing nightmares that are brought forth as a result is what Halloween Horror Nights 26 is made of. Our amazing line-up of houses and scare zones—drawn from movies, TV shows, and original stories—all live within the confines of her terrifying theatre.

Chance-the-Clown-Halloween-Horror-Nights-HHN-26-3

As she stands center stage within a yellowed, flickering spotlight, I can see her with a coy and maniacal smirk stating simply…

“The Show Must Go On.”
