If you’ve already had the opportunity to enjoy a Disney Cruise Line vacation, then you probably don’t need a new reason to take a Disney cruise. And with Disney Cruise Line itineraries sailings from various ports around the world, it can be hard to find the best fit for your family. With the Disney Magic taking its talents to South Beach, I thought I would take some time to share five reasons why you should book a Disney cruise from Miami – and why your family will love it, too!
Photo: Disney
Miami – need we say more?
The vibrance and uniqueness of Miami warrants a visit to this city in and of itself! Whether you want to visit one of two national parks, shop on designer fashion or local boutiques, dine on the “Floribbean” cuisine or check out the famous beaches, there is no shortage of culture and things for your family to experience together before or after your cruise. Book a pre- or post- stay and treat yourself to a few extra days of vacation!

Disney Magic
One of the biggest reasons I like to sail out of Miami is the ship that resides in this port – the Disney Magic! I’m sure you know that this is the first ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, but did you know that it is home to unique offerings such as the AquaDunk (I dare you to take the plunge!), an exclusive Broadway-style show, “Tangled: The Musical,” and one of my favorite themed dining spaces, Rapunzel’s Royal Table? If you haven’t been onboard in a while, it’s time to get reacquainted with this classic ship!
Do you have any Marvel fans in your family? If so, Miami is the port for you! From January through March in 2020, the Disney Magic will sail exclusively out of this city on special Marvel Day at Sea sailings. During one special day at sea, the ship will be taken over by the Marvel universe. Picture it now: learn how to be like Captain America, meet Spider-Man, journey into the mystic arts with Doctor Strange and end your day with an action-packed entertainment stage show complete with fireworks fitting of – well, a super hero!
Photo: Disney
Miami is easy to access from anywhere!
Miami is one of the most popular ports in America, and it’s easy to see why! The “Magic City” is an easy drive from anywhere within the state of Florida, and with a bustling international airport, this is an ideal port city whether you reside in or outside the Sunshine State!
Photo: Disney
Ports of Call
Cruises from Miami sail anywhere from three-night voyages to the Bahamas to five-night sailings to the Western Caribbean – or if you’re up for an extra-long vacation, a 12-night transatlantic voyage will take you all the way to Barcelona! And best of all, every voyage to the Bahamas and Caribbean makes a stop at Castaway Cay, my favorite island paradise reserved just for Disney Cruise Line guests. Save me a seat on Serenity Bay, will you?
Even though I don’t need a specific reason to enjoy a Disney cruise from Miami, I think these are five pretty good ones (and these are just the beginning)! Leave a comment below and let me know your favorite reason to sail from this city. I hope to see you on board a sailing soon!

Sanaa is one of the most popular restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort, known for its incredible bread service, African-inspired cuisine and, of course, its incredible views of the lush Sunset Savannah. It is here that you can sit back and enjoy a delectable meal while taking in the spectacular views of African wildlife right outside the windows of the restaurant. With animals including gazelle, zebras, kudu, giraffes, ostriches, cranes, and more, they’re sure to make your meal a memorable experience.
The restaurant currently offers wonderful table-service dining for both lunch and dinner, but did you know that Sanaa now features a delicious breakfast menu? Recently, the talented chefs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge created the Sanaa Kuamsha Breakfast – served from 7:00am to 10:00am – for those guests looking for an early-morning meal. Highlighting a variety of different flavors inspired by authentic African cuisine, this new dining experience transforms Sanaa into a casual quick-service restaurant featuring grab-and-go options as well as a few familiar dishes with a unique twist that you can only find at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

On the entrée menu, you’ll find several familiar dishes complemented with unique African flavors. These dishes include Eggs Benedict (with two brown poached eggs, farmer’s ham, spice route hollandaise, arugula, and berries), Shahi Tukra French Toast (with saffron-scented sultan raisins, whipped chai cream, and almonds), and the Methi Paratha Wrap, which features scrambled eggs, potatoes masala, gouda, chermoula, and papaya achar. And for a plant-based option, you can try the Enriching Grains and Fruit dish with mixed grains, seasonal fruit, South African rusk, and coconut milk yogurt.

Holidays at the Disneyland Resort brings magical entertainment, sparkling décor, festive foods, specialty merchandise and of course, seasonal attractions! From now through Jan. 6, 2020, enjoy Disney magic with friends and family on attractions themed especially for the holidays. There are four Disneyland attractions with holiday overlays that you won’t want to miss this season!
Over in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park, the residents are racing to celebrate the season. Two attractions rely on holiday magic to celebrate the haul-idays:
Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl – Luigi and his extended family of roadsters are celebrating the season in style. Take a seat and take a merry spin as the cars cruise to festive tunes, including “We Wish You Season’s Speedings,” “Joy To The Whirl,” “Jolly Joyous Santa Car,” “Carol Of The Horns” and “Jingle Bells.”
Mater’s Jingle Jamboree – This haul-iday tractor spins through a festively decorated junkyard. Mater croons classic holiday tunes, including “Christmas In Radiator Springs,” “Mater’s Jingle Jamboree,” “Radiator Rockin’ Holiday,” “The Gifts of the Mater” and “Tractors, Tractors, Tractors.”
In Disneyland park, two popular attractions also transform just for the season:
“it’s a small world” Holiday – The beloved attraction takes you around the world and back as dolls and toys representing children enjoy the distinctive holiday traditions of their countries. In the evenings, the attraction’s facade twinkles with 50,000-plus colorful lights, music and video projections.
AP Bonus: Annual Passholders can enjoy an extra hour at “it’s a small world” Holiday after park closing on Nov. 18-22 (Nov. 18-21 starting at 10 p.m. and Nov. 22 starting at midnight), as well as a special photo opportunity. Blockout dates apply.
Haunted Mansion Holiday – ‘Twas “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and all through the Haunted Mansion, Jack Skellington and his friends are causing a collision between Christmas and Halloween. Enjoy the frightfully festive décor and familiar characters from the classic film, including Sally, Zero and Oogie Boogie.
AP Bonus: Annual Passholders can enjoy an extra hour at Haunted Mansion Holiday after park closing on Dec. 9-11 (Dec. 9 and 11 starting at midnight and Dec. 10 starting at 11 p.m.). Blockout dates apply.
