Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot is Now Open

spice road 1

Spice Road Table, a new restaurant located at the Morocco pavilion at Epcot, is scheduled to officially open to guests later this month. However, the doors have “quietly opened” and the restaurant is now operating daily as part of their soft opening process. This soft opening is giving the staff time to “ease into the new kitchen and iron out details.”

The beautiful, new venue overlooks the World Showcase Lagoon. Spice Road Table offers indoor and outdoor seating as well as an array of regional small plates, specialty wines, beers and aperitifs inspired by the cuisine of the Mediterranean.

We had a chance to stop by last weekend and here are a few dishes from the menu posted outside:

  • Chef’s Special: Two different Tapas sampler platters
  • Mussels Tagine
  • Spicy Shrimp
  • Mediterranean omelet
  • Moroccan Merguez Sausage
  • Fried Calamari
  • Hummus and imported olives
  • Salted Cod Croquettes
  • Lamb slider
  • Rice stuffed grape leaves
  • Harissa chicken roll

Spice Road Table is a perfect spot for viewing “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” or just relaxing with a selection of Moroccan flavors and cocktails along World Showcase Lagoon. According to designers, “Spice Road Table is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.”

According to the Disney Parks Blog, “Inspired by the outdoor cafés along the Mediterranean, the whitewashed façade of Spice Road Table is accented in icy shades of blue from the famous “Blue City” of Chefchaouen in Morocco’s Rif Mountains. With 120 outdoor terrace seats, the inside will seat 60 with cozy booths, Moroccan light fixtures, tilework, tapestries and art representing Morocco’s indigenous Berber tribes is showcased.”

A collection of shops in the colorful style of a Moroccan “souk,” or marketplace, will also stretch along the front of the building. There will even be a henna tattoo artist to create temporary body art from traditional and modern designs.

Spice Road Table will offer 120 outdoor terrace seats and seating for 60 inside with cozy booths, Moroccan light fixtures, tilework, tapestries and art representing Morocco’s indigenous Berber tribes.

Epcot Food and Wine Festival Premium Event Reservations Available Tomorrow

Are you attending the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival this year? You’ll want to make sure to remember that the Food and Wine Festival premium event reservations are available tomorrow. You can begin making your reservations as early as 7 a.m. on August 13, 2013 if there is a premium event you would like to attend. Plus, there will be new experiences available this year, including a Parisian breakfast, a Scottish party, as well as a Hibachi dinner in Japan.

The 2013 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will run September 27- November 11, 2013. The full list of options is available here.

From the sneak peeks at the dishes for this year’s Marketplace kiosks, the early favorites include crispy pork belly with a dollop of pureed black beans and a fresh topping of sweet onions, avocado and cilantro micro-greens; kimchi hot dog with spicy mustard sauce and Florida Local’s grass-fed beef slider with Monterey Jack and sweet and hot pickles; seared Scottish salmon with cauliflower puree, watercress and malt vinaigrette; and Le Cellier’s wild mushroom beef filet mignon with truffle butter sauce.

The most exciting new though is the return of the Dole Whip, which appeared at this past spring’s Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. However, this time will have a different twist where it will be orange (not pineapple).

You can view the full list of the delicious creations that will be available at the Marketplace here. However, the offerings are subject to slight changes while chefs and sommeliers perfect the festival.
