Five New Restaurants at Disney Springs Coming Later in 2017 and 2018

Three new dining concepts are expected to open by year’s end at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort, with two more in the works for 2018.

This fall, Chicago-based Levy Restaurants is introducing a new Italian concept at Disney Springs, with James Beard award winner and “Top Chef Master” Chef Tony Mantuano leading development. The new restaurant replaces Levy’s Portobello Country Italian Trattoria and will feature dishes inspired by Mantuano’s adventures in Italy.

Also opening in late 2017 is Wine Bar George, with Master Sommelier George Miliotes bringing his expertise to Disney Springs with an unparalleled wine list including more than 100 selections by the bottle and glass in a range of varietals, vintages and prices. Shareable plates, cheese and charcuterie will complement the wine list, featuring local artisans and seasonally relevant dishes. Look for some fun wine education, including special events and visits from winemakers. Miliotes is widely regarded as one of the industry’s foremost wine experts, and is one of only 236 professionals certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers.

And The Edison, a lavish “Industrial Gothic” restaurant, bar and nighttime, is planning to open by year’s end. A collaboration of Patina Restaurant Group and Kinetescape’s Andrew Meieran, The Edison is noted for classic American food, craft cocktails and live entertainment including cabaret. (The Disney Springs location is inspired by its sister location in Los Angeles.) With Old World sophistication and romance, The Edison will be themed to a 1920s-era electric company, recalling an exuberant era of invention and imagination with entertainment that includes contortionists, aerialists, DJs and more.

Looking ahead to 2018:

  • Jaleo, a concept by world-renowned Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup, will open on the West Side, bringing the spirit and flavors of Spain, with an extensive menu of tapas that reflect the rich regional diversity of traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine. Think paella cooked over a wood fire, hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota and wood-grilled Iberico pork. With five locations in the United States and Mexico City, this will be the first location in Florida. The first floor of the multi-level restaurant will feature a “grab-n-go” storefront with Spanish-style sandwiches.

  • And a new Wolfgang Puck concept will open in a new location in Town Center. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, will modernize the traditional “bar and grill” concept in a setting inspired by traditional farmhouses with a touch of elegance. The restaurant will capture the essence of laid-back California dining made popular by Puck at Spago, his flagship restaurant in Los Angeles. The menu will highlight the best of Puck’s signature dishes with Mediterranean influences, innovative takes on comfort food classics and handcrafted specialty cocktails, beer and wine.

Which one of these new restaurants at Disney Springs are you most looking forward to trying?

Late 2014 Disney Springs Update from Disney World

Chances are by now you’ve heard about the transformation happening at Downtown Disney at Disney World which will eventually become Disney Springs. There is plenty of construction there and we’re finally seeing some progress and changes making way for Disney Springs. Two new restaurants, Morimoto Asia and The BOATHOUSE, were recently announced to be coming to Disney Springs. Here is a late 2014 Disney Springs update!

Walt Disney Imagineering has installed a Springs Bottling Co. Marquee on top of the building that is the future location of Morimoto Asia. The sign is part of the Disney Springs story which pays tribute to Florida’s waterfront towns at the turn of the century since the building was formerly used as Springs Bottling Co., the town’s bottling company. The inside of Morimoto Asia will continue to honor the theme and history of Disney Springs.

Check out this time-lapse video of how the Imagineers put up the new marquee literally over night! The new sign is already part of the illuminated nighttime skyline at Downtown Disney!

The Waterview Stage, which can be found adjacent to the future home of The BOATHOUSE, is already home to nightly entertainment as well as spectacular views of Village Lake. You can find specific showtimes on a Times Guide.

Disney Springs

The Food Trucks at Exposition Park on the West Side will be opening tomorrow, Tuesday, November 25, 2014. This will be the permanent home for the Downtown Disney owned and operated food trucks that serve delicious culinary creations along the water. The food trucks have items from Disney Parks such as chicken and waffles or tandoori spiced shrimp. The area will offer additional seating for dinners and shaded areas during the day.

The Landing, the first phase of Disney Springs, has already brought a new pedestrian bridge between Portobello and Paradiso 37. This makes it easier to access The West Side than ever before. Plus,

The West Garage (the first of two planned garages for Disney Springs) is opening in phases and is now available for guest parking!

By the time Disney Springs is complete, there will be:

  • Dedicated bus lanes separate from the traffic for guests using the buses
  • A beautiful spring as the center of the new Disney Springs
  • Marketplace Causeway connecting T-Rex to Rainforest Cafe

There are a lot of exciting transformations and additions happening at Disney Springs! Which are you most looking forward to seeing?

The Trophy Room Coming to Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs

 the trophy room logo

Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion project where it will be transformed into Disney Springs. There will be many new stores, restaurants, and experiences when Disney Springs officially opens in 2016.

One of the new stores in Disney Springs will be a unique concept of six boutiques within one store, Marketplace Co-Op. Disney just released details on one of the six stores inside Marketplace Co-Op, The Trophy Room. The Trophy Room is sure to be a fan favorite as Marketplace Co-Op is going in where Team Mickey once was.

Dana Harchar, a member of the Global Retail Development team, shared some details about what guests will see at The Trophy Room: “I’m designing the merchandise fixtures found in [The Trophy Room],” explained Dana. “With a backdrop of exposed brick, the wall fixtures will look like repurposed trophy cases that had their glass doors removed. They will be made of beautiful cherry wood with a rich, luxurious stain. Dark stone and metal accents will also be found throughout the shop. We plan to include some wonderful wool Trophy Room logo banners to differentiate this shop from the others in the Marketplace Co-Op like Disney Centerpiece .”

Senior merchandiser John Sarni also explained what will make The Trophy Room a unique shopping destination: “At first glance, The Trophy Room may seem like a traditional sports apparel store,” said John. “Once inside, guests will soon realize this space represents a lifestyle. The location aims to create sports fans, rather than just outfit existing enthusiasts, by offering high quality, vintage-inspired garments that instill a sense of nostalgia and old-school, collegiate spirit.”

The Trophy Room will offer a variety of sports apparel, including vintage styles featuring some of the most popular teams in baseball along with professional and college football. Plus, there will be collectibles like pennants or baseballs that have printed images of famous stadiums. However, the assortment may change as different sports come into season throughout the year.

The Trophy Room will also have collegiate-inspired apparel and even drinkware, complete with a Disney World flare.

These are just a few of the items that will be available at The Trophy Room when it opens at the Marketplace Co-Op in a couple of months.

Downtown Disney and Disney Springs Update

disney springs 2

It has been almost a year since the Walt Disney World Resort announced the expansion of Downtown Disney to become Disney Springs. This multi-year project is well under way now so I wanted to share with you some updates on the progress of Disney Springs that the Disney Parks Blog shared with us.

One of the newest, and most visible, additions to Downtown Disney is the new pedestrian walkway that connects the West Side and Pleasure Island. This temporary walkway will help with traffic flow and also make it easier to travel from one district to the other. Plus, the beautiful boardwalk meanders along Village Lake to offer a spectacular waterfront view.

Here are the latest additions and changes from Downtown Disney:

  • Fit2Run, the Runners Superstore, opened just last month. The store features Premier footwear, apparel, GPS, performance sunglasses and more.
  • The first of four themed Food Trucks made its debut during Festival of the Masters. Featuring a variety of delectable meatballs, the Superstar Catering Truck was a hit with guests. Additional trucks will continue to roll in soon!

If you’ll be checking out the newest offerings at Downtown Disney, don’t forget to make use of the new pedestrian walkway, with entrances located near Characters in Flight and Paradiso 37.

What are you most looking forward to at Disney Springs?
