“We are very pleased to offer this additional Disney enhancement to our guests,” said Thomas Steinhauer, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Orlando. “Four Seasons guests will surely enjoy more fun in the parks provided by the Extra Magic Hours.”

Since the Resort’s opening in 2014, Four Seasons Resort Orlando has provided guests with wonderful connectivity to Disney.  In addition to the new Extra Magic Hours benefit, the Resort also provides guests with the following Disney connectivity:

Due to the Resort’s special location and proximity to the Disney Theme Parks, guests of Four Seasons Resort Orlando can arrange to have park souvenirs delivered directly to the Resort, instead of carrying purchases around all day.  Same day delivery is offered conveniently at all four of the Disney parks.

3. Grape Ape

This doughnut was almost cut from the original Voodoo menu but after customers made an impassioned plea, it quickly became a fan favorite. A few fans have even gotten a tattoo in honor of the vanilla frosted doughnut covered with grape dust and lavender sprinkles.

4. Bacon Maple Bar

Covered with maple frosting and bacon on top, this doughnut is perfect for those who love savory mixed with sweet.

Ten Best Things About Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando Resort

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

Water is life. Life is Joy. The simple philosophy of the Waturi people could not be more appropriate to describe what awaits us all at Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park, their first water theme park, Universal’s Volcano Bay. I hope every guest at Universal Orlando Resort can experience living “the life” in this island oasis so to help you plan your time, here are the ten best things about Volcano Bay.

10. The Story

With every attraction and experience Universal Orlando offers, it all starts with a story—and Volcano Bay is no exception. Your time at the water theme park was driven and inspired by a story, so be sure to dive into the narrative of the Waturi people. The tale of these proud people, who searched for a home and were led to paradise by a mythical golden fish, is exactly what you’ll need to prepare yourself for the sights, sounds, and sensations of Volcano Bay.

 9. Private Cabanas

The roaring waters of the Krakatau Volcano waterfall, the delicious tropical drinks, and the sounds of the islands are all best experienced in your own oasis of a Private Cabana. Featuring your own exclusive menu, complimentary fruit plate, and concierge service, these cabanas are worth every penny. I particularly love the “home base” feel that it provides for everyone in your party. No matter what attractions you experience, what restaurant or bar you choose to savor, the whole crew can meet up at their own private “home” for the day!

8. The Food

Like all other dining choices at Universal Orlando Resort, the cuisine is themed to the story and the food at Volcano Bay will not disappoint. There are four main dining locations at Volcano Bay; Kohola Reef Restaurant & Social ClubWhakawaiwai EatsBambu, and The Feasting Frog. With so many delicious dishes and restaurant choices, your only regret will be if you don’t have enough time, or stomach real estate, to try them all!

7. TapuTapu

Universal Orlando is always pushing the envelope with incorporating new technologies into the parks and attractions. Upon entering the park and receiving your TapuTapu, you will get to start your day. Guests are encouraged to use their TapuTapu on one of the easily identifiable TapTu Play symbols found all around the park. Upon contact, water will begin spraying and giant water windmills begin turning around you!

Not only is the TapuTapu fun, but it is also super functional. TapuTapu can became your wallet with TapTu Pay and you won’t have to carry cash or touch keypads with wet hands.

6. No Standing In Long Lines

What’s the number one theme park hassle? Lines. Well, at Volcano Bay you can enjoy the fun and sun without having to queue for long periods of time. With so many things to see, so many drinks to drink, and so many rays to catch, you won’t want to spend your time standing in a long line. Fortunately, like everyone who visits Volcano Bay, you will get a return time on TapuTapu and spend the rest of your time enjoying the best that the park has to offer.

5. The Thrills

With more than 18 attractions, Volcano Bay has something for everyone. The Maku Puihi round raft rides are a great experience, allowing multiple people to enjoy the ride together. And the Punga Racers are a cool take on competitive fun. True thrill seekers will have to conquer one attraction in particular—The Ko’okiri Body Plunge! High atop the Krakatau Volcano, this gift of an attraction to any “adrenaline junkie,” is home to a 125-foot drop at a 70-degree angle.

4. The Drinks

While the kids are swimming, playing and enjoying the cool things that TapuTapu can do, what can Mom and Dad enjoy? The answer to that question can be found in a delicious “Blue Hawaiian” or “Strawberry Ginger Lift,” two of the many signature drinks that can only be found at Volcano Bay.

When any adult thinks “Tropical Oasis,” they think about sitting on a beautiful beach with a drink in hand, hopefully with fruit garnish and a tiny umbrella. I am happy to report that one can bring that very vision to life, complete with umbrella!

 3. Kids Areas

If you have kids, chances are that it is important that each theme park you visit have a spacious, fun area for them to play in. Tot Tiki Reef and Runamukka Reef are the perfect places for little ones to play around their own volcano, run through bubbling geysers, make water shoot out of cool places, and just be kids!

2. The Slides

When one thinks “water theme park,” of course water slides come to mind. And Volcano Bay is the buffet of water slides. With so many different variations to enjoy, even the most traveled, seasoned water park enthusiast will experience plenty of new things here.

The Honu ika Moana raft ridesTaniwha Tubes, and Ohyah & Ohno Drop Slides are all strikingly different from one another and provide unique experiences for everyone. Whether you want to brave it alone, or bring the whole crew for a multi-person slide experience, Volcano Bay has you covered. I thoroughly enjoyed the group fun atmosphere on the Maku Puihi round raft rides, while my favorite individual slide was the incredible Ohno Drop Slide, sending me into a six-foot plunge into the pool below!

1. The Krakatau Volcano

Towering 200 feet tall, Krakatau is the breathtaking centerpiece of Volcano Bay. Not only a visual marvel, it’s also home to The Krakatau Aqua Coaster.  This impressive attraction showcases the evolution of theme park rides and illustrates a perfect marriage of water-based experiences and the thrilling coasters that we’ve come to expect and love from Universal Orlando.

This four person aqua coaster brings you into the heart of the volcano and sends everyone rocketing up and plunging down through shimmering waterfalls. Beauty, power, and fun are the best words to describe this iconic epicenter of the best water theme park that I’ve experienced.

Have you visited Volcano Bay? Tell me what you think the best things about Volcano Bay are.

Be Our Guest has remained one of the most popular restaurants at Disney World ever since it opened in 2012. It has also offered a unique dining experience with quick service breakfast and lunch menus while offering a table service dinner menu. This summer will bring a new dining experience to Magic Kingdom Park when Be Our Guest dinner becomes a signature (two table service credit) meal. The restaurant will offer an enhanced prix fixe dinner menu that boasts a variety of delectable French-inspired dishes and new offerings. (Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

For the main course, feast on mouth-watering entrées such as Grilled Center-Cut Filet Mignon with potato au gratin, Romano beans, Cipollini marmalade and a cherry-laced red wine reduction or the Smoked Black-Eye Pea Tortellini with roasted seasonal vegetables, tomato relish and basil-scented tomato water. Other enticing dishes include Poulet Rouge Chicken, Saffron-Infused Seafood Bouillabaisse, Roasted Lamb Chops and Kurobuta Pork Tenderloins.

Rock Out in Hard Rock Hotel Orlando’s New Future Rock Star Suites

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort)

One of my favorite family-friendly destinations is Universal Orlando Resort. After all, it’s for people who seek thrills, adventure and entertainment. So, what makes the experience even better? Staying at a hotel where you can literally rock out and be entertained even after the parks close.

You can now experience Hard Rock Hotel’s new Future Rock Star Suites during your Universal Orlando Resort vacation. If you’re a family of music lovers, staying at Hard Rock Hotel is awesome, from the great hotel theme details to the world-class amenities.

Here’s why you should stay in a Hard Rock Hotel Future Rock Star Suite with your family during your next Universal Orlando Resort vacation.

The Luxury of Connecting Rooms

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

A big part of vacationing is that everyone gets some relaxation. That means it’s time for a little privacy for the grown-ups. With the new Future Rock Star Suites you can have the luxury of connecting rooms.

You don’t have to try to create a little separation in one room any more; you have two rooms to spread out. Some of the suites sleep five with one king bed, two twin beds, and the option of a rollaway. There is plenty of space to hang out together and more than enough space to relax apart.

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

One of the best parts of the suite is also having an expanded bathroom. While having a standard room with a separate washroom is amazing, you can’t beat the set-up in these suites. It makes getting ready for your day so much easier. Beyond the privacy, having this option really elevates the value in these suites in my books.

You’ll especially love the lounging area where you can all watch TV, have some snacks, and just unwind. You can even order late-night room service and set up right in the sitting area.

Themed for Kids

When traveling with kids, you want them to feel comfortable and have fun, right? Most hotels are focused on the adults, while others are focused on kids but do not hit every age range. With the Hard Rock Hotel’s new Future Rock Star Suites, the design is centered around kids who love music. Each suite has a piece of memorabilia from some of their favorite rock and pop stars.

You can be that much closer to your fave celebrities. This is such a unique aspect for kids who love music!

Plus, the starry sky above their beds that they can look up at is stellar. Pun intended! You can control the lights and dim them or put them into party mode.

Another fun detail was a mirror that listed the heights of different celebs. Your whole family will have a blast comparing your heights to theirs.

Be the Star and Rock Out with Fender

Your kids can step on a stage that changes colors beneath their feet. Then they can perform before a wall of enthusiastic fans with music synced to their TV or Bluetooth headset.

If you plan ahead of time, you can have a Fender guitar sent to your room as part of Hard Rock’s The Sound of Your Stay in-room music amenity program. You can choose from 20 different models, too! There is even a TV channel that gives you guitar lessons, right in your hotel room.

For a guitar enthusiast, this option is priceless. This is such a great option for any guitarist who can’t travel with their own instrument. You just never know when you’ll get the itch to play!

You can also have a Crosley turntable sent to your room through Hard Rock’s WAX in-room music amenity program with your choice of 10 iconic records to experience. How cool and retro is that?

Plenty of Amenities

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

Hard Rock Hotel will certainly spoil you, especially with amenities. The restaurants make you feel like a rock n’ roll star, there is endless amounts of music memorabilia, and more. On-site restaurants and lounges include The KitchenThe PalmbeachclubEmack & Bolio’s Marketplace, and the Velvet Bar.

Future Rock Star Suites are located on the seventh floor Rock Royalty Level. This allows you to take advantage of the exclusive perks that come along with it. You have access to the Rock Royalty lounge where you can enjoy complimentary continental breakfast and evening horsd’oeuvres, beer and wine for anyone 21 and up, and desserts. This alone is worth it for us as a family. Plus, there are two separate TV viewing areas in the lounge.

You also get personal concierge service. If you want to vacation like a rock star, , this is the way to do it.

Perks of Being a Rock Star

Of course, staying in any room at the Hard Rock Hotel comes with its own perks. Some of those perks include free Universal Express Unlimited access to Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, so you can skip the regular park lines. That’s a benefit worth up to $129 per person, per day. This helped us make the most of our time at the parks and we were able to go on all the rides we wanted especially the rides in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

On-site hotel guests also receive Early Park Admission. This lets you into the theme parks, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Universal’s Volcano Bay one hour before everyone else.

Another convenient thing about staying at Hard Rock Hotel Orlando is the complimentary water taxis and walking paths that lead to Universal Studios Floridaand Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It’s close enough to walk and take in the beauty of the grounds.

After you’ve sampled the restaurants at the Hard Rock Hotel, you can head over to Universal CityWalk and try some new restaurants and take in the entertainment they offer. Make sure to take advantage of the hotel dining shuttle too, with free transportation to and from any of Universal’s on-site hotel restaurants. Pick-up is available in the hotel lobby approximately every 30 minutes from 6–10 pm.

Incredible Customer Service

One of my favorite parts of the Hard Rock Hotel is the customer service. Not only do they offer 24-hour room service, they have top- notch customer service from the moment you walk in. Checking in is a breeze and checking out is just as simple. If you need anything in between, they are sure to accommodate.

The next time you’re headed to Universal Orlando, be sure you book one of the new Hard Rock Hotel Future Rock Star Suites. They have everything the family needs to have a rockin’ and rollin’ good time.

Even after the theme parks close, you’re sure to have a great time at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando —both you and the kids!

Which part of the Future Rock Star suites would you enjoy the most? Sound off in the comments below!

You may have seen on social media that there’s already a rose gold cupcake at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot – a beautiful vanilla cupcake with hazelnut swirl, rose gold buttercream, fondant ears, edible glitter and chocolate pearls. Well, in addition to Epcot, Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are now offering their own versions! In Magic Kingdom Park, you’ll find a Rose Gold Red Velvet Swirl Cupcake topped with a mini-vanilla cupcake, rose gold buttercream, chocolate crispy pearls and chocolate rose gold Minnie ears at Main Street Bakery. Outside of the parks, the resorts have come up with some rose gold cupcakes as well! On the monorail loop around Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is serving up a tropical Rose Gold Vanilla Cupcake with guava pastry cream at Capt. Cook’s and Kona Café; and I even hear that a Rose Gold Margarita with lime and a gold sugar rim has arrived at the Barefoot Pool BarContempo Café at Disney’s Contemporary Resort now has a Rose Gold Vanilla Cupcake with strawberry filling, vanilla buttercream, strawberry crispy pearls and a dark chocolate rose gold Minnie hat. And Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has a Rose Gold Unicorn Cupcake with rose gold sponge and hazelnut cream cheese filling at Gasparilla Island Grill!

Six Ways to Enjoy Butterbeer at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

When people think of Butterbeer in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, usually the first thing that comes to mind is the popular cold frothy beverage. However, there are a few other ways to enjoy this Harry Potter treat.

First, let’s start with the classic cold, frozen and hot beverages.

Cold Butterbeer

(Photo: Universal Orlando Resort Blog)

For those of you who haven’t tried cold Butterbeer yet, your taste buds are missing out. This refreshing beverage has a nice fizzy feeling combined with a sweet taste reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread.

One of my favorite things about cold Butterbeer is the awesome foam mustache you get while drinking this. Next time you’re visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter with your friends and family, see who in the group has the best Butterbeer mustache!

Frozen Butterbeer

This is the smooth, cold beverage you’ve always wanted – especially during those hot summer months. This drink has a flavor that tastes like shortbread and butterscotch served with a whipped topping.

This fan-favorite is the only Butterbeer beverage served with a straw because of its icy cool texture, which is perfect for savoring every last sip. Although it felt like an impossible decision to make, I’m on team frozen Butterbeer.

Available in:

  • Diagon Alley: Leaky Cauldron, The Hopping Pot and The Fountain of Fair Fortune
  • Hogsmeade: Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head pub and Butterbeer street carts

Don’t forget your souvenir mug. You can get cold and frozen Butterbeer served in a special themed Butterbeer mug exclusive to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Hot Butterbeer

Hot Butterbeer is a dream come true. When the weather gets chilly, a cup of this warms you right up. The seasonal drink has the same flavor reminiscent of shortbread and butterscotch you know and love.

Available in:

  • Diagon Alley: Leaky Cauldron
  • Hogsmeade: Three Broomsticks

Now, on to a few other delicious Butterbeer specialties!

Butterbeer Potted Cream

This sweet treat is a traditional British fair with a Harry Potter inspired twist. This potted cream has a smooth, creamy texture which makes it the perfect dessert.

Available in:

  • Diagon Alley: Leaky Cauldron
  • Hogsmeade: Three Broomsticks

Butterbeer Fudge

This treat has two layers that taste like shortbread and butterscotch, which combined make Butterbeer fudgy goodness. It’s the perfect amount of sweetness that you will enjoy until the very last bite.

Butterbeer Soft Serve Ice-Cream

As if ice-cream isn’t already wonderful enough, add Butterbeer to the mix and you’ve got yourself an addicting new favorite. This soft-serve tastes like vanilla and butterscotch swirled to perfection.

I recently learned this treat is served in multiple locations around The Wizarding World of Harry Potter so whether you’re in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade you can indulge in this delicious ice-cream throughout the day.
