Six Things for Kids at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

We are often asked if Epcot offers much for kids to enjoy in this park. We think that there are a number of activities and experiences that kids can enjoy year round in the parks, but the Food and Wine Festival brings even more for kids to see and do. Although there are plenty of delicious food and beverage options for adults, there are six things for kids at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival to enjoy, too!

Here are six things that we think your kids will love at the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival:

  1. Fun Zone Playground: Your kids can burn some energy at the Fun Zone Playground in Future World East. The playground has plenty of space for your kids to explore and climb. You can even relax with a drink or food sample from one of the nearby marketplaces.

2. Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak Scavenger Hunt: Little statues of Remy holding an ingredient from his famous ratatouille have been hidden all over the World Showcase pavilions. You can search for the 15 statuettes at no charge or purchase a map with stickers from participating Festival merchandise locations to earn a surprise for a completed map. This makes for an inexpensive souvenir and is a fun activity as you make your way around the park.

3. Candy Sushi Making Experience: You can learn to make sushi inspired confectionary creations from some of your favorite candies, all led by a Disney chef. Classes are held daily at 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm in Sunshine Seasons at the Land pavilion. Advance reservations are strongly recommend and can be made here.

4. Disney Du Jour Dance Party: You can show off your best dance moves during the Disney Du Jour Dance Party which will be happening every day throughout the festival from 5:30-8:30 pm. However, Friday and Saturday evenings get even more exciting with live performances from Radio Disney artists.

Here is the full schedule of upcoming performers (subject to change without notice):

  • August 30 through August 31, 2019
Meg Donnelly (With U, Disney Channel’s Zombies)
  • September 13 through 14, 2019
Jenna Raine (A Letter to Me)
  • September 27 through September 28, 2019
    Isabella Nicole (Headphones)
  • October 4 through October 5, 2019
    Avenue Beat (Delight)
  • October 11 through October 12, 2019
Sky Katz (Like This, Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home)
  • October 18 through October 19, 2019
    JAGMAC (Like a Band)
  • November 1 through November 2, 2019
    AJ Mitchell (All My Friends)
  • November 8 through November 9, 2019
Kylie Cantrall (That’s What I’m Talkin’ Bout, Disney Channel’s Gabby Duran & The Unsittables)
  • November 15 through November 16, 2019
Erin Bowman (Good Time Good Life)
  • November 22 through November 23, 2019
    Tegan Marie (Horses)

5. Kid Approved Dishes: All of the festival passports indicate which dishes are “KA” or “kid approved.” There are food and beverage options at almost every booth that offer kid friendly options. If you don’t have the most adventurous eaters, it’s a great way to encourage them to try new things.

6. Epcot Forever: Epcot’s long running nighttime show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, will be ending on September 30 to make way for a new, limited-time nighttime spectacular, Epcot Forever, which will make its debut on October 1. Your kids will love ending the day watching this incredible new show featuring fireworks, laser effecrs, and more all around the World Showcase Lagoon. 5.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

Photo: Disney

Are you ready to eat your way through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Resort? That day is coming fast, fellow travelers, because it opens on August 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! When you visit Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, you’ll be greeted with a variety of food and beverage options, and you won’t want to miss out on any of them!

Oga’s Cantina

If you’re thirsty for a taste of adventure, then Oga’s Cantina might be just the thing to quench your thirst! This notorious watering hole serves as the hangout spot for all of the locals as well as smugglers, bounty hunters, and the groovy droid, DJ R-3X! Here you’ll find a variety of specialty beverages with and without alcohol. For the fully-grown Jedi and bounty hunters out there, the specialty beverages with alcohol are served throughout the day. There’s even a few morning specialties like the Bloody Rancor made with vodka, chile liqueur, spicy Bloody Mary mix, and a rancor bone cookie.

The afternoon and evening specialties include options like the Outer Rim featuring silver tequila, açai liqueur, lime juice, pure cane sugar, black salt, and exotic fruit purée. There’s also the Yub Nub made with pineapple rum, spiced rum, citrus juices, and passion fruit as well as my personal favorite, the Fuzzy Tauntaun. This fun drink comes with peach vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice with tangerine, pure cane sugar, and “buzz button tingling” foam.

Younglings and travelers of all ages can also enjoy an array of family-friendly concoctions like the Blue Bantha. Holiday Celebrations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Begin November 8, 2019

From the Disney Parks Blog:

Everyone will be feeling extra merry and bright at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this holiday season, with festive new entertainment and holiday décor in every land! For the first time, holiday celebrations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be held throughout the park and all the fun begins November 8, 2019.

It all begins when you cross the bridge to Discovery Island, finding yourself in the midst of a celebration of winter, hand-crafted by the eclectic community of artists who make the island their home. The village is filled with sparkling white holiday decorations. Colorful, animal-inspired luminaries line the rooftops, and wireframe lanterns in the shape of beautiful birds can be found perched throughout the area. And during the day, Discovery Island springs to life with a holiday gathering of winter animals, realized in the form of life-size, artisan-sculpted puppets. Reindeer, foxes, polar bears, penguins and more interact with guests, accompanied by serenading musicians as they create a playful atmosphere of festive fun.

As day becomes night, the rooftop luminaries and bird lanterns all around Discovery Island bring a warm and festive glow to the entire village. At the center of everything, the Tree of Life awakens with a series of wintry tales, complemented by a familiar and heartwarming holiday-inspired musical score. Between awakening moments, the Tree of Life continues to shimmer and sparkle throughout the night, alive with the magic of nature and the spirit of the holidays.

Over in Dinoland, U.S.A., all the Disney character friends gathered for Donald’s Dino-Bash! get into the spirit with colorful holiday decorations in the style of Donald Duck and each of his pals, and at night, you’re invited to gather ‘round Truck-O-Saurus for the Holiday Hoopla Dance Party with Chip ‘n Dale and plenty of interactive fun and games.

In Asia, the residents of Anandapur have decorated the theatre district in celebration of Diwali, the holiday festival of lights in India. Glowing flowers, lanterns and more illuminate the square between Anandapur Theater and the waterfront stage, home to authentic cultural performances.

The village of Harambe in Africa welcomes visitors with a unique holiday presentation, blending the inspiration and style of western traditions with the colors and textiles of authentic African celebrations. The various groups appearing throughout Harambe introduce holiday-inspired enhancements, including costume additions and new music, to their performances. The holiday fun continues inside Tusker House for dining with Disney friends, where Mickey and his pals spread holiday cheer throughout the meal.

The holiday spirit even reaches Pandora – The World of Avatar, where the ex-pats living and working on the moon of Pandora bring a little Christmastime fun to their alien home, with a display at Pongu Pongu of kitschy holiday décor, combining vintage pieces from Earth with items handcrafted from materials indigenous to Pandora.

It’s going to be an extra magical holiday season at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and across Walt Disney World Resort, filled with wonder and delight in all four parks! Make plans to join the holiday celebrations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, starting November 8, 2019.
