(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Adventures by Disney recently unveiled its lineup of 2019 itineraries, including a reimagined trip to the Canadian Rockies during the Adventures by Disney Canada vacation. With awe-inspiring mountains, unforgettable wildlife and lush scenery as far as the eye can see, this amazing destination is on my “must visit” list, and I can’t picture a better way to see this breathtaking province than with Adventures by Disney.

Unplug and become one with nature as you take part in all-new Western-themed activities in Calgary. Release your inner cowboy as you tour a working ranch with the family that has owned it for five generations. History will come to life as ranchers enchant you with tales of the first cowboys of Canada. And, with hands-on demonstrations, you’ll become part of the ranch’s story yourself.

Savor the sights of the region as you walk alongside majestic bison and elk, and visit one the most picturesque places in the world, Banff National Park. Here you’ll take in the views of stunning glaciers as you walk a glass platform hundreds of feet in the sky and soar 7,500 feet in a gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain.

The grandeur of the trip will come alive as you visit the colossal Columbia Icefield and journey along Lake Louise, a vibrant blue lake surrounded by astounding peaks that climb into the sky. You’ll truly see why the great outdoors make for the perfect backdrop for lifelong family memories.

Hidden Details in the Indiana Jones Adventure Queue at Disneyland Park

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

One of my favorite things about Disney Parks is the way they immerse guests in a story, often down to the tiniest details. The Disney Parks Blog is helping us take a closer look at details you might have missed in some of your favorite attractions or maybe even details you may have noticed and always wondered about! This time, we get to dig deeper with one of history’s most famous archaeologists at Indiana Jones Adventure queue in Disneyland park.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

From the moment you enter the queue, Indiana Jones Adventure transports you to the past with immersive details and interactive elements. Take a close look into Indy’s office and you’ll find 1930s copy of “Life” magazine featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on the cover.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

There are also nods to the famous films. The wall of Indy’s office is made of crates, one of which is labeled, “Deliver to Club Obi Wan.” This is a reference to the opening sequence of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” – which takes place in Club Obi Wan, itself an homage another famous Lucasfilm character. (If you can name this reference – of course you can – leave your guess in the comments!)

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

There are also clues to the adventure ahead. Next to his desk, you will find a bulletin board posted with correspondence between Indy and Sallah as well as a large map of the entire temple drawn by Dr. Jones himself. Depicted here are traps, landmarks and even a guide to which gifts can be found behind each of the doorways inside the Chamber of Destiny.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

There are even hidden details to find once on board your troop transport. Past a menacing 45-foot-tall decaying skull of Mara and before a lunging 100-foot long King Cobra, you’ll see a skeleton wearing Mickey ears embroidered with the name “Bones.”

The Temple of the Forbidden Eye is full of many more immersive details. The next time you make your way through the temple passageways, keep an eye out for archaeological tools, traps and even try to decipher some of the Maraglyphics carved into the walls.

What is your favorite detail of Indiana Jones Adventure queue at Disneyland park? Tell us in the comments!

Raspberry Macarons Recipe from Disney Fantasy’s Sweet on You

Raspberry Macarons Recipe from Disney Fantasy’s Sweet on You

Sweet on You is one of my favorite new spots aboard the Disney Fantasy, not only for the amazing desserts but also for the super cute atmosphere that brings you into the world of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. One fun fact about the new space is that the artwork on the walls was created by the animators from the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

The music playing in the background makes you feel as if you’re walking into a patisserie right off the streets of Paris, so it’s fitting that this premium sweet shop serves a variety of hand-crafted desserts, including macarons. The Disney Parks Blog recently shared the raspberry macarons recipe for you to make at home. When you’re sailing on a 7-night Disney Fantasy cruise, be sure to try out the other flavors, as I can attest that each one is delicious!

Raspberry Macarons Recipe from Disney Fantasy’s Sweet on You
Makes 20 macarons

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup almond blanched flour
  • 2/3 tbs egg whites, divided
  • ½ tsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup purified water
  • 1 cup raspberry jam

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
2. Combine powdered sugar and almond flour in an electric mixer until fine. Add 1/3 tbs egg whites and food coloring to make a paste in the electric mixer.Note: Make sure the egg whites are room temperature before using.
3. Boil the sugar and water in a small pot and bring to 260 degrees F. Whip 1/3 tbs egg whites. Pour the hot sugar syrup into the egg whites on the side of the bowl and whip at a high speed until thickened to form the meringue.
4. Add 1/3 of the meringue to the almond flour mixture and combine, repeating with the rest of the meringue and making sure to deflate the mixture.
5. Fill a piping bag with a round #6 tip with the mixture. Place wax paper onto a baking sheet, and pipe the mixture into ¾ inch round discs onto the sheet. Let sit for 35 minutes before baking in the oven.
6. Place the macaroons in the oven and immediately turn down the oven temperature to 285 degrees F. Bake for ten minutes and then take out of the oven to cool.
7. When cool, turn over half of the macarons and pipe raspberry jam on the flat surface. Place another macaron on top of the jam.
