I personally think you should see it all when you come to Universal Orlando Resort. But knowing there’s so much to do, these are 15 moments you just have to experience at Universal when you come to the parks.
That moment when you realize you’re going to Hogwarts castle
When I first stepped into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, my heart skipped a beat. The land is absolutely beautiful. When I turned the corner and Hogwarts castle was revealed, I definitely shed a tear. It’s truly amazing.
2. That moment when Optimus Prime says hello
What’s cooler than seeing your favorite Transformer give you a warm welcome as you step up to pose for a photo. Next to TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D is a photo opportunity to meet Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron.
3. That moment when you fly up in the air 185 feet
Doctor Doom’s Fearfall will have you screaming way more words than you even knew you had in your vocabulary. No fear of heights (or maybe a deathly fear of heights)? This attraction was built for you. The launch uses more thrust than a 747 jet.
4. That moment when you plunge down to escape a large T. rex
Jurassic Park River Adventure takes you on a lovely scenic water cruise where you come across some nice herbivore dinosaurs. All of a sudden, you’re taken off course and end up face to face with a HUGE T.rex before plunging 85 feet! It’s so awesome.
5. That moment when you finally meet Blue
Speaking of dinosaurs, did you know you can now meet Blue? At Raptor Encounter you’ll get to learn some interesting raptor facts about this clever girl. And if you’re brave enough, you can even grab a quick photo with her. Fun fact, kids can even sleep in their very own gyrosphere bed in our new Jurassic World Kids’ Suites.
6. That moment when you wake up and see a volcano through your window
Picture this… You walk into your room at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort for the first time and open the blinds to discover one of the most breathtaking views on property. Our Volcano Side rooms give a bird’s eye view into Universal’s Volcano Bay. Let me tell you, these views are absolutely out of this world. Plus, being a hotel guest gives you access to Volcano Bay an hour before the park opens for the day with Early Park Admission.
7. That moment when you come face to face with Kong
Are you brave enough to step foot into this mysterious island at Skull Island: Reign of Kong? Inside, you’ll encounter a few frightening creatures and prehistoric predators. But at the end of your journey, you’ll come face to face with Kong himself. This moment is definitely worth the trek.
8. That moment when you see a fire dancer at the Wantilan Luau
You can’t miss this classic Hawaiian luau at Loews Royal Pacific Resort. The Wantilan Luau will have you dancing along with hula dancers and will have your jaw dropping at these fire twirlers. Shows are every Saturday evening starting at 6pm.
9. That moment when you step inside the tube at Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides
These body slides, at Universal’s Volcano Bay are sure to make your jaw drop when the floor disappears, sending you plummeting down intertwining tubes through the Krakatau Volcano.
10. That moment when you climb 90 degrees straight up on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
In my opinion, the most intense part of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is the moment you’re 90 degrees looking straight up at the sky, your stomach turning from anticipation. At least you have some music playing to ease your nerves.
Fun Fact: this coaster is 17 stories high, making it one of the tallest roller coasters at Universal Orlando Resort.
11. That moment when you take a bite of a donut as big as your head
This. Donut. Is. Amazing. It’s also the size of your head! You can find this giant pink-iced sprinkled donut in Springfield at Lard Lad Donuts. Calories don’t count on vacation… right?
12. That moment when you eat a sushi roll that’s actually a burger…
Two of my favorite meals are sushi and a good burger. At The Cowfish, my two favorite meals collide. You can literally eat what they call Burgushi. It’s either a burger made with sushi or sushi that’s actually a burger. It is all SO good.
13. That moment when you Hulk out
Shooting out of the tunnel and racing up to 67 miles per hour on The Incredible Hulk Coaster is INTENSE. And so much fun. This roller coaster has a total of seven inversions and will make you want to come back for more.
14. That moment when you see the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon breathe fire
Sitting on top of Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, at the far end of Diagon Alley, is a massive fire-breathing dragon. One of my favorite moments is stepping foot into Diagon Alley and catching the dragon growl and blast fire out of its mouth.
Fun Fact: the fire out of the dragon’s mouth reaches temperatures of 3,560°F!
15. That moment when you take in the view from a rooftop bar
Universal’s newest resort hotel, Universal’s Aventura Hotel, just opened—and you’ll definitely want to check out Bar 17 Bistro, the hotel’s rooftop bar. This is the first rooftop bar at Universal Orlando Resort, and these views are absolutely incredible.

When planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, you’re probably focused on selecting your accommodations, adding your park tickets, and then determining which experiences you absolutely have to fit in during your visit. But one other important aspect of your vacation you’ll want to consider before arriving is how you’ll capture and preserve the memories you’ll make at Walt Disney World Resort. For many, Memory Maker is a great option. There are usually a lot of questions about Memory Maker and how it works so here are the top five things you’ll need to know about Memory Maker so you can decide if you need it during your Disney World vacation.
How is Memory Maker related to Disney PhotoPass Service? Disney PhotoPass Service has photographers stationed throughout Walt Disney World Resort ready to get your entire family in the photo and cameras ready to capture your experience at select attractions.
Memory Maker is a product offered by Disney PhotoPass Service. PhotoPass photos can be purchased individually, but when you purchase Memory Maker, you receive unlimited digital downloads of all your PhotoPass photos taken during your Memory Maker window for one price. So the more photos you take, the more value you receive!
Which Disney PhotoPass photos are included with Memory Maker?
Anywhere Disney PhotoPass captures your photo during your Memory Maker window, you’re entitled to download that image as part of your active Memory Maker entitlement.
This includes PhotoPass photos taken at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Character Experiences, either Disney PhotoPass Studio, iconic locations such as in front of Cinderella Castle, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, Enchanted Tales with Belle, and all attraction and dining locations with PhotoPass capture.
Magic Shots, which add Disney Characters and other fun surprises to your photos after they’re taken, are also included with Memory Maker!
Does Memory Maker offer any exclusive photo opportunities?
While all guests can view attraction videos from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as well as Animated Magic Shots in their account, an active Memory Maker entitlement is required to download, save and share them. (And, remember that a MagicBand linked to your account is required for you to collect and view attraction videos)
Can my Memory Maker entitlement include my travel party’s photos?
Absolutely! If you’re linked to others in your party through My Disney Experience Family & Friends and they choose to share their photos taken during your Memory Maker window with you, you’ll have the ability to download them. So, if you’re traveling with friends and family, only one party needs to purchase Memory Maker and then you can all share it!
When should I purchase Memory Maker?
Memory Maker can be purchased before, during or after your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. But when you buy early, you save: When you purchase three or more days prior to the start of your vacation, the price is $169. If you purchase during or after your vacation, the price is $199.
If you think Memory Maker is right for you, I would encourage you to purchase it prior to your vacation, as the less time you spend figuring out which photos you’re going to buy, the more time you have to make the memories, take another ride on Space Mountain, or enjoy a Dole Whip! Plus, that $30 discount leaves you a little extra spending money!
Have other questions? Let me know in the comments, or give the Disney PhotoPass Guest Support Team a call at 407-560-4300!
Memory Maker is subject to the applicable terms and policies available here. Includes photos taken during the applicable Memory Maker Window as defined in such terms (generally, photos taken (i) within one day for the One Day product or (ii) within 30 days from the date of first activation for standard Memory Maker). A MagicBand is required to receive certain attraction photos and other digital content. Online registration required. Disney PhotoPass Photos in your account will expire pursuant to the expiration policy available here. Downloads are restricted to personal use only. Not responsible for missing, lost or damaged photos. Subject to restrictions and change without notice. Valid theme park admission required for certain photo locations.

There are so many great places to eat at Disney World! Whether you are a picky eater or a foodie aficionado, you will love most of the restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort. Character dining is a great option for families with kids who want to see the characters without having to use a FastPass or wait in long lines in the theme parks.
Here are the five best character dining experiences at Disney World:
Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort: We love just about everything about Chef Mickey’s! Chef Mickey’s has a HUGE buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with such a variety that everyone in the family is sure to leave stuffed! Plus, you get to eat with all of the fab five classic Disney characters- Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. This is also a great place to celebrate a birthday or special occasion!
Garden Grill at Epcot: Situated in the Land pavilion in Future World, Garden Grill offers a relatively intimate character dining experience. With a smaller restaurant, characters tend to spend more time with families here and even make it back around to your table more than once. We also love the all you can eat meals served family style right to your table. With gooey cinnamon rolls for breakfast or a platter of meats for lunch and dinner, everyone in the family is sure to find something they love!
1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: This is a great meal for the whole family, but especially little princesses. You can choose from breakfast with Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger or dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella. The stepsisters are so funny and offer some really fun and funny interactions. (Tip: Be sure to try the strawberry soup!)
Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom: You can enjoy an expansive breakfast, lunch, or dinner buffet with Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy in their safari gear. Although breakfast is your standard fare, lunch and dinner offer some more unique, African-inspired options. (Tip: Book a late breakfast so you can try a bit from both the breakfast and lunch menu)
Hollywood & Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine is one of the best meals for toddlers and preschoolers because you get to eat with the Disney Junior characters! This upbeat and exciting meal plays some of your little ones’ favorite Disney Junior songs while they meet Sofa the First, Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, and Roadster Racer Goofy.
What has your best character dining experience been?

Many families plan a day off from the parks during a Disney World vacation to let the kids rest and relax. There are lots of great activities that you can enjoy like shopping at Disney Springs, horseback riding at Fort Wilderness, carriage rides through Port Orleans, and swimming at your hotel’s pool. With so many resorts to choose from, you may be wondering which Walt Disney World Resorts offer the best pools. Here is our list of our five favorite Disney World pools.
Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach & Yacht Club Resorts: Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort have the best pool at the Walt Disney World Resort. They share Stormalong Bay, a three acre “water wonderland.” Stormalong Bay features a lazy river, a pirate ship water slide (one of the tallest water slides at Disney, by the way), a sand-bottomed pool, beach area for the kids to build sand castles, and so much more. The whole family will love splashing and playing at Stormalong Bay.
The Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: The Lava Pool will let you feel like you’ve traveled to Hawaii for the day. Relax under the waterfall while the kids slide down the volcano themed water slide or play on the new tiki-themed water playscape that was built just for them. Plus, the Lava Pool offers a great view of Magic Kingdom’s nighttime fireworks spectacular, Happily Ever After!
The Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort features the largest non-waterpark pool at Disney World, the Big Blue Pool! Your kids will love the Finding Nemo theme of the Big Blue Pool, complete with its own underwater soundtrack with voices of their favorite characters from the movie. There’s also a splash pad and zero depth entry in the main pool, making it a great choice for families with little ones on a budget.
Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort: The Fuentes del Morro pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a pirate’s paradise centered around an old Spanish fortress. Swashbucklers of all ages will love the two water slides, water cannons, and zero depth entry pool while the littlest pirates can splash and play at the shipwreck themed water play area full of mini water slides, crow’s nest, and tipping bucket.
The Dig Site at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort: The Dig Site at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is home to The Lost City of Cibola Pool and waterslide. The complex is centered around a 50 foot pyramid, resembling ancient Mayan ruins, with water rushing down the steps. You’ll also find the largest outdoor hot tub at Disney World here, with room for up to 22 guests!

Thrill seekers, it’s time to seize the day on your next vacation. Below are the top thrill rides at Universal that will make your heart rate spike during your visit to Universal Orlando Resort.

2. Krakatau Aqua Coaster
Krakatau Aqua Coaster at Universal’s Volcano Bay is an incredible technological achievement. This 4 person canoe slides through mists and will take you through Krakatau, the mighty fire and water Volcano.
3. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Yes, you can choose your favorite song. However, it’s all about the 90-degree climb into the sky on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. I rode this ride at Universal Studios Floridamultiple times to write this list, you know, for research purposes.
4. Jurassic Park River Adventure
“Hold on to your butts” because Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure has a T-rex, raptors, and an 85 ft evacuation drop.
5. Ko’okiri Body Plunge
Have you ever dropped straight down from a Volcano? This is your chance. Ko’okiri Body Plunge at Volcano Bay features a 70-degree angle descent via trap door. This is a real test of courage.
6. Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
One enormous drop for man, one giant launch to the sky for mankind. Doctor Doom’s Fearfall at Islands of Adventure is a glorious treasure. Not only is it fun, but the view from the top—185ft high, to be exact—is enough to make any thrill seeker’s must do list.

This drop slide at Volcano Bay does not disappoint when you are an adrenaline junkie. I recommend you don’t miss Ohno (purple) which is a higher drop then Ohyah.

Now, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts at Universal Studios Florida has a tilt drop that will test your ability to not yell in fear, so this ride makes the list.
9. Honu of the Honu Ika Moana
Honu means Sea Turtle (blue slide) but don’t let that fool you—this ride at Volcano Bay is a rush. This is a multi-person raft so get a few of your friends and get terrified together.
10. Revenge of the Mummy
Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor coaster at Universal Studios Florida and is a fan favorite for a reason. You’ll encounter mummies, beetles, fire, and a curse (which, of course, is real)
11. Tai Nui of Kala & Tai Nui Serpentine Body Slides
This body slide at Volcano Bay is the definition of a rush. This drop slide seats atop of the volcano sending you down fast before reaching the bottom for a glorious splash. Just remember Tai Nui (green) is my recommendation for anyone seeking extra excitement. The anticipation before you drop is what thrills are made of.
12. Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
I know what you’re thinking, is Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls in Islands of Adventure thrilling? Well, one: “danger, dynamite.” Two: you WILL wet your pants.

Are you still reading? What are you waiting for? Let’s go!
Benvenuto! Hop in, cousin, and buckle up while we take a closer look at Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadstersat Disney California Adventure park. This attraction takes you through Luigi’s Casa Della Tires, before heading out to the dance floor where Luigi’s cousins have put on their dancing tires and let loose. Don’t race through the queue or you’ll miss some neat details!
(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
It’s not called Casa Della Tires for nothing! Luigi has all his finest and favorite tires on display in the tire showroom, including Lightyear Radials, Tortellini Tires and Fettuccini. Keep an eye out for all the different brands!
(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
As you leave the tire gallery, look across the way where Luigi and Guido have three boards full of memorabilia. It’s no surprise that Luigi is a huge Lightning McQueen fan – he and Guido were part of Lightning’s pit crew at both the Piston Cup and the World Prix. Luigi has even kept issues of magazines like Rolling Tire and RSN where Lightning is featured on the cover. If you look closely, you might spot memorabilia from around the world!
(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
While it is clear that Luigi loves Italy, he’s made a home in Carburetor County and kept many mementos from his time in Radiator Springs–including a sign for Route 66 and a flier from the Carburetor County Classic Film Festival where they played movies like “Mary Poppin’ a Wheelie” and “Monster Trucks, Inc.”
(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
As you exit the building and enter the patio area, take a peek at Luigi’s office. He has all sorts of fun décor scattered about, like the Italian flag, postcards from around the globe and even an Automotive Table of the Elements. Some elements to note are Vroomium, Car-bon, Bumperine and Towtalum.
(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
Luigi’s desk is full of nods to his life in Radiator Springs. You might notice a note from Doc Hudson, file folders with the names of other residents and an invoice from Shiny Wax. While it may not seem the most organized, his desk is a treasure trove of memories!
Thanks for joining us on today’s tour of Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, racers!
Sushi is a very popular food among guests of all backgrounds so if you’re a sushi lover, you may not want to go your entire vacation without any. There are a number of places where you can order sushi at Disney World, but today we’re going to share with you the top seven spots. It’s that small ball of vinegar-flavored cooked rice with fish (usually raw) or vegetables that makes sushi, well, sushi. Rolls count too.
Female sushi chefs are onstage at Tokyo Dining at the Japan Pavilion in Epcot, rolling out favorites such as the Fire Cracker Roll with tempura shrimp, a touch of jalapeño and Sriracha drizzle, or the Tropical Roll with salmon and avocado topped with fried plantain and mango-sweet chili coulis. You can be more straightforward with nigiri (raw salmon, scallops, sea bream and other fish) on a small ball of rice with a dab of wasabi. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
(Quick Tip- If you are just looking for a quick snack of sushi at Disney World, stop by the kiosk just outside of the Japan pavilion or even Katsura Grill!)
(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)
California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort counts sushi as one of its top appetizers (or we can make a meal of it). From a California Combo Roll with jumbo lump crab, avocado, cucumber and shrimp tempura to a snazzy Truffle-Scented Tofu Roll with avocado, jicama, quinoa, crispy fingerling potatoes, silken tofu and truffle emulsion, there are six inventive rolls on the menu. Dinner daily.
At Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Kona Island offers sushi for lunch and dinner in a casual setting in the upstairs lobby. We like the vegetable nigiri, six pieces of seasonal veggies on vinegar-flavored rice. Or try the Hamachi Tuna-Cilantro roll or classic California Roll with lump crab, citrus mayo, cucumber and avocado. Lunch and dinner daily.

Disney Springs has two spots for sushi: Morimoto Asia and Splitsville. The chefs put on a dazzling show at the sushi bar at Morimoto Asia with favorites like the Spider Roll with tempura soft shell crab, spicy mayo, and asparagus; Eel and Avocado Roll, and the Spicy Salmon Roll. But the pièce de résistance is the Sushi and Sashimi Platter for four to six guests that includes chilled whole lobster, Alaskan king crab, oysters, shrimp, nine pieces of nigiri and 14 pieces of sashimi. Splitsville Luxury Lanes (yes, the luxury bowling lanes) has two sushi bars and offers 10 rolls – try the Ninja Crunch with fried salmon, krab, tempura crunch and salmon drizzled with spicy mayo and eel sauce. Both locations are open for lunch and dinner daily.
Kimonos at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel offers one of the largest selections of sushi at Walt Disney World Resort, with seven cooked sushi rolls and 10 raw sushi rolls. From tempura asparagus to a Cajun Roll with spicy crawfish, there’s something for every palate. Open daily for dinner (nightly karaoke too!).

Wait, what do you mean you don’t have a wand? You don’t know where to get them? You know what they do though? What?! Okay, come with me and I will guide you along your journey.
What do the interactive wands look like?
Let’s start off simple, there are 22 interactive wands in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter inspired by the wands of your favorite characters from the Harry Potter film series.
Pretty awesome, right? And (in case you needed even more options) there are also interactive wands that are not based on a character and are instead unique to the witch or wizard’s personality.
Now that you are torn between 2 or 3 different wands, let me show you where you can find them in our parks.
Now that you have your interactive wand, you are now ready to cast spells all along your journey!
In total, there are 16 spells you can cast in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley and 9 in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.
Inside your interactive wand box is a double-sided map that comes with the details of all the spell casting locations.

At the location, a gold medallion shows wizards and witches where to stand as well as the correct wand movement for the spell.

With some practice, you’ll be creating magic in no time. Here’s a quick glimpse of Reparo, one of the many spells you can cast. This charm fixes something that has been broken.
Now you’re all set! You’ve got your robe, Butterbeer, and an interactive wand! Which wand is YOUR favorite all throughout #WizardingWorldOrlando? Tell us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or in the comments below!
