Visit the Western Caribbean and Grand Cayman with Disney Cruise Line

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Grand Cayman is a favorite port of call for many Disney cruisers, and one of the destinations you can visit on select 7-night Western Caribbean voyages aboard the recently enhanced Disney Fantasy. It is the largest of the Cayman Islands, known for its exotic marine life, warm waters and sun-drenched beaches. Here are a few suggestions to experience the best of Grand Cayman with Disney Cruise Line with your family, both above and below the water.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Amphibious Bus Land and Sea Adventure – What better way to do a land and sea tour than in an amphibious vehicle! Your family will climb aboard the state-of-the-art Hydra Terra for a fully narrated tour of Grand Cayman, both through the streets of Georgetown and in the waters off the picturesque coastline. While cruising past ancient shipwrecks and coral gardens, large LCD monitors will give you an underwater view. Back on dry land, you’ll stop at Seven Mile Beach where you can enjoy an afternoon on the beautiful white sand.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

SeaWorld Observatory Semi-Submarine – Another unique mode of transportation is the semi-submarine where you can soak up the views from above and below the water – without even getting wet! The vessel has an air-conditioned, underwater observatory five feet below the surface of the water where you can view an abundance of marine life through large windows. On your journey, you’ll visit mysterious sunken ships and coral reefs, including Cheeseburger Reef where a diver will enter the water and feed hundreds of multi-colored tropical fish right in front of your window.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Catamaran, Reef and Kittiwake Snorkel Sail – This adventure is on a more traditional island vehicle – a luxury catamaran. Your sailing and snorkeling excursion begins along the beautiful Seven Mile Beach and takes you to two snorkeling stops—one above colorful coral reefs and the other above a historic shipwreck. After swimming with schools of fish and abundant marine life, sit back and relax on the return sail to Sea Grape Beach, soaking up the views of the island’s beautiful coastline.

Remember, when the ship’s in port, venture ashore!

Have a Frightfully Good Time During Halloween on the High Seas 2017

Have a Frightfully Good Time During Halloween on the High Seas 2017

Disney Cruise Line will treat guests sailing this fall to a wickedly good time as the ships transform into a ghoulish wonderland filled with frightfully fun events and activities, special decorations, unique menu items in the restaurants and themed parties, starting in September through the end of October.

Halloween on the High Seas 2017 takes place on most voyages aboard the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wonder and Disney Magic from September through October. This extra-spooky celebration features Halloween-themed parties, lively entertainment and elaborate décor, including The Pumpkin Tree, which magically transforms throughout the cruise. Other special experiences include:

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

  • Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party, a celebration with games, dancing and lots of candy! Beloved Disney characters, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion, will join guests for this fun-filled costume party.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

  • Mysterious Pumpkin Trees: Each ship’s Pumpkin Tree is unique, with Grim on the Disney Dream, Muckelbones on the Disney Fantasy, Bog on the Disney Wonder and Reap on the Disney Magic. Watch these trees magically transform from eerie and barren into the life of the party with sprouting Jack-O-Lanterns and flickering lights.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

  • A Nightmare Before Christmas—Sing and Scream, an interactive movie experience where guests are part of the action and immersed in the infamous Halloween Town, followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack Skellington and Sally.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

  • Haunted Stories of the Sea, where the bravest cruisers gather under the stars to hear some true—or not so true—tales of the sea told by a mysterious sea captain storyteller.
  • Creepy Cabaret, Halloween-themed music performed live in the atrium by a band of ghostly musicians.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

  • Halloween Isn’t Just For Kids: For adults, the nighttime entertainment district becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor.
  • Spooky Movies: To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown on Funnel Vision by the family pool and in staterooms.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

  • Ghoulish Delights: Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Spooky Juice.”
  • More spooky fun includes mask-making and a ghostly takeover of ship announcements!

To celebrate Halloween, the Disney Dream sails three- and four-night Bahamian cruises departing Sept. 4 to Oct. 30; the Disney Fantasy sails seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises departing Sept. 2 to Oct. 28; the Disney Wonder sails two-, three-, four- and five-night Baja cruises, a seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise and a fourteen- night Panama Canal cruise departing Sept. 15 to Oct. 27; and the Disney Magic sails four-, five- and seven-night Canadian Coast cruises, and seven- and eight-night Bahamian cruises departing Sept. 27 to Oct. 28.

It’s not too late to book your Halloween on the High Seas 2017 cruise!

Enjoy Fun in the Sun in St. Thomas with Disney Cruise Line

Enjoy Fun in the Sun in St. Thomas with Disney Cruise Line

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

St. Thomas is one of the beautiful Virgin Islands you can visit on select Disney Fantasy 7-night Eastern Caribbean itineraries. Once largely occupied by Dutch-owned sugar cane plantations and pirates of the Caribbean, the island is now a haven for water recreation, shopping and sunbathing. During your week of fun on the recently enhanced Disney Fantasy, you’re sure to have a blast exploring St. Thomas and other nearby islands. Here are a few of my suggestions for family-friendly fun in St. Thomas with Disney Cruise Line:

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Doubloon Turtle Cove Sail and Snorkel – On this snorkeling excursion, you’ll feel like a pirate in the Caribbean! Set sail on a doubloon pirate schooner, anchoring at the deserted Turtle Cove off the coast of Buck Island to snorkel among fantastic coral formations, incredible tropical fish. You may even spot sea turtles on this unforgettable Caribbean adventure.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Abi Beach Full Day Escape – The Virgin Islands offer some of the beast beaches in the Caribbean, and multiple Port Adventures whisk you off to pristine white sand and turquoise blue waters. This tranquil escape takes you to a former 18th-century plantation where you can swim, play and soak up the sun at the beautiful Abi Beach. The full-day adventure includes lunch while you overlook glassy waters and distant islands.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Tree Limin’ Extreme Zipline Adventure – Limin’ is local slang for “hanging out,” and on this adventure you’ll be hanging out in the trees as you soar high over a lush rainforest canopy atop St. Peter Mountain. You’ll cross two sky bridges and six ziplines, including the one-of-a-kind “yo-yo” zipline that lets you travel forward and backward — the only experience of its kind in the Caribbean!

Plan Sun Soaked Adventures in Curacao with Disney Cruise Line

Plan Sun Soaked Adventures in Curacao with Disney Cruise Line

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

The recently enhanced Disney Fantasy recently departed on her first-ever Southern Caribbean cruise, with back-to-back 10- and 11-night cruises from Port Canaveral. In honor of these special voyages, here are some suggestions for fun in Curacao with Disney Cruise Line.

Like Aruba, the island of Curaçao is located in the Southern Caribbean Sea near the coast of Venezuela. It is a vibrant oasis famous for its beaches, pristine diving and snorkeling, rich culture and European architecture. Whether you choose to have a beach day or stretch your legs exploring other parts of the island, we have the perfect Port Adventure for your family. Here are just a few …

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

City Walking Tour – Curaçao’s capital, Willemstad, is a UNESCO World Heritage site that features colorful Dutch buildings, museums, monuments, restaurants and shops. This guided tour takes you on an enlightening stroll through the city, including Rif Fort, Fort Amsterdam, the Queen Emma floating bridge and the picturesque floating marketplace. A highlight of the tour is a visit to the Curaçao Maritime Museum where you can discover more than 500 years of the island’s maritime history.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Discover Curaçao Island Tour – This excursion also visits the Curaçao Maritime Museum, followed by exciting adventures around the island. One stop is at the spectacular Hato Caves, a dramatic collection of centuries-old grottos filled with stalactites, stalagmites and crystal-clear pools. Another destination is the Chobolobo Liqueur Factory where you can taste Blue Curacao liqueur and see how it is made. Throughout the day, you’ll enjoy magnificent views during scenic drives around the island paradise.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Coastal and Country Drive – Get your camera ready! This Port Adventure showcases the beauty of Curaçao with visits to some of the area’s stunning locales, including Boca Tabla National Park, Jan Kok salt lakes and one of the island’s most beautiful beaches. You’ll also stop at Kas di Pal’I Maishi, an interactive museum where you’ll learn about life in Curacao from days past and enjoy a traditional song and dance demonstration.

Soak Up the Sun in Aruba with Disney Cruise Line

Soak Up the Sun in Aruba with Disney Cruise Line

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Starting this summer, for the very first time the Disney Fantasy has premiered longer itineraries – new 10- and 11-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean, sailing from Port Canaveral to incredible destinations such as Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts and Tortola. Two of these special cruises take place this summer, and a third will set sail next summer.

There are many exciting Port Adventures in Aruba with Disney Cruise Line. The island is home to miles of beautiful white-sand beaches, sunny skies and stunning views. It is an independent country approximately 18 miles north of the Venezuelan coast, known for a dry climate and an arid, cactus-dotted landscape. Here are just a few of the ways for your family to have fun in the sun during your day in Aruba…

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

4 X 4 North Coast Adventure and Beach Break – Aruba’s sun-kissed weather makes it the perfect place to explore with an off-road adventure. On your journey, you’ll see the rugged natural beauty of Black Stone Beach, Ayo Rock Formations, the Natural Bridge and much more. Other points of interest include Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, Alto Vista Chapel, the California Lighthouse and an ostrich farm, which all provide the chance to learn about the past and present culture of the island. The adventure-filled day concludes at Arashi Beach where you can swim or snorkel in the crystal-clear waters or simply relax on the warm white sand.

De Palm Island Beach and Snorkeling – Want to escape to a small private island? A short ferry ride takes you to the colorful resort island of De Palm, Aruba’s only all-inclusive destination, where you can enjoy all the beach activities the island has to offer, including snorkeling, beach volleyball, water slides and more. Your unique passport to the island includes a lunch buffet, open bar, lounge chairs, freshwater showers and snorkeling equipment. Talk about the perfect beach day for the entire family!

Catamaran Sailing and Snorkeling – This catamaran adventures takes you to Aruba’s west coast to two great snorkeling locales, the reef off Boca Catalina Beach and the famous Antilla shipwreck that sunk during World War II. After swimming in the beautiful waters teeming with tropical fish, you’ll enjoy a relaxing sail back to the pier while listening to music from the islands and enjoying a scenic view of Aruba’s coastline.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Disney hosted the D23 Expo 2017 last week and made many exciting announcements about the future of Disney Parks and Resorts. There are a number of changes and additions planned for Disney Parks and Resorts from an opening date for Toy Story Land, a new Star Wars hotel, three new ships coming to Disney Cruise Line, and so much more. Here is a recap of the plans announced at D23 Expo 2017:

Walt Disney World Resort

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Toy Story Land to Open at Walt Disney World Resort in Summer 2018: In 2018, you’ll find yourself shrunk to the size of a toy to explore the world of Andy’s backyard with your favorite Toy Story characters, including Woody and Buzz, in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Toy Story Land will feature two attractions, Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. Slinky Dog Dash will be a family coaster attraction where you’ll zip, dodge and dash around many turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to his limits. Alien Swirling Saucers was designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first “Toy Story” film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Star Wars-Inspired Themed Resort Coming to Walt Disney World Resort: According to Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, this revolutionary new vacation experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves in an entirely new form of Disney storytelling.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

First Mickey- Themed Ride-Through Attraction, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: A new attraction featuring international icon Mickey Mouse is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort! On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short where you’re the star and anything can happen. This zany out-of-control adventure features surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes. In order to begin to prepare the new home of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at the Chinese Theatre in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, August 13, 2017 will be the final day of operation for The Great Movie Ride presented by Turner Classic Movies.

Disney Skyliner to Transport Guests Around Walt Disney World Resort: A brand new transportation system is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort to add even more magic to your future vacation experiences. The Disney Skyliner will soon give guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort. The transportation system will connect Disney’s Art of AnimationPop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. And many of the gondolas with Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters.

New Tron Attraction Coming to Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort: Tron – the highest-rated attraction at Shanghai Disneyland– is coming to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida! The new Tron attraction will sit in an entirely new area right next to the Space Mountain attraction at Magic Kingdom Park. The TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction at Shanghai Disneyland is a coaster-style attraction where riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles. It offers access into the energy, lights and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe and is one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Guardians of the Galaxy Replacing Universe of Energy in Epcot: A “Guardians of the Galaxy”-inspired attraction will be added to Future World, adhering to the original vision of Epcot’s Future World as the place to experience the excitement and adventure offered by space travel. Epcot’s brand new E-ticket attraction will be based on the rockin’ and action-packed world of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and is the next step in how guests can encounter these characters at the Walt Disney World Resort. Epcot just may be the perfect place for a “Guardians”-inspired attraction as you can see in the photo above – Peter Quill (aka Star Lord) actually visited Epcot as a kid! (Note: This new attraction will replace the current Universe of Energy attraction, which will close August 13, 2017).

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Ratatouille Attraction Coming to The France Pavilion in Epcot: A Disney•Pixar’s “Ratatouille”-inspired attraction will be added to the France Pavilion in World Showcase. The attraction will expand the pavilion. Similar to the 4-D attraction Ratatouille: The Adventure that opened at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2014, guests will be able to shrink to Remy’s size and scurry to safety in a dazzling chase across a kitchen with the sights, sounds and smells of Gusteau’s legendary Parisian restaurant.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

New Minnie Vehicle Service Begins in July at Walt Disney World Resort:new transportation service featuring vehicles themed to the one-and-only Minnie Mouse will soon be taking you everywhere you want to go at the Walt Disney World Resort. Starting later this month, guests at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts will be able to arrange their own private Disney vehicle right from their smartphone. It’ll be simple to do. Just arrange a Minnie vehicle and a Disney cast member will arrive and drive you anywhere you wish at the Resort in a magical way that only Disney can do.

New Space Restaurant to Offer “Out of this World” Dining Experience at Epcot: Disney will be creating a new restaurant at Epcot that’ll offer amazing meals with spectacular views high above Earth – from space! The restaurant, which will be located adjacent to the park’s Mission: SPACE attraction, will invite guests to travel into space for amazing dining experiences in the stars.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

New Theater Inspired by Kansas City’s Willis Wood Theater to Debut at Walt Disney World Resort: A new venue for world-class entertainment is coming to Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida. If the image of the theater looks familiar, that’s because the new entertainment venue will be based on the iconic Willis Wood theater in 1920s Kansas City, where Walt lived after he left Marceline. And as you can see from the design, it’ll fit well right off Main Street, U.S.A.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Announced as Name for Star Wars Lands at Disney Parks: The official name of the Star Wars-inspired lands that are currently under construction at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, will both be called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. These new areas will allow guests to visit a remote trading port on the edge of wild space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life – and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action.

The lands will feature two major attractions that put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Each attraction – and even the land itself – will offer guests the chance to immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe like never before.

One attraction will make you feel like you’re on a Star Destroyer inside a hangar bay. The second attraction will give guests the opportunity to fly the Millenium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission. But how you perform on the mission holds even bigger stakes: perform with skill and you may earn extra galactic credits, while bringing the ship back banged up could put you on the list of a bounty hunter. End up on Harkos’s list and you may face a problem if you show up at the local cantina!

Guests will also encounter many familiar faces inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including BB-8, Chewbacca, members of the First Order and – among many others – Rex, the troublesome pilot you may remember from the previous version of a certain Disney attraction who takes on a new role in this land as the DJ at the cantina. And speaking of the cantina, here guests will be able to try unique concoctions like blue milk. Nearby, they’ll also be able to acquire trinkets and treasures from across the galaxy.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in 2019, first at the Disneyland Resort and later in the year at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney Cruise Line Adding Three New Ships in 2021, 2022, and 2023Disney Cruise Line is planning not two, but three new ships in the next phase of expansion. By the time these three ships are sailing, Disney will have nearly doubled the size of their fleet, which means that more families than ever before will be visiting spectacular destinations around the globe and creating magical memories at sea! All three ships are going to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany with scheduled completion dates of 2021, 2022, and 2023.

All ship names, design plans and itineraries are still in development, with each of the ships expected to have their own unique experiences. The three new ships will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same size – approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms planned – which is slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
