If you know anything about Universal Orlando Resort Hotels, you know the teams behind them leave no detail untouched and no space unthemed. That is as true as ever in regards to the destination’s newest property and first extra-affordable value hotel, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites. Here are five fun facts about Universal’s Endless Summer Resort- Surfside Inn and Suites…
1.Half of the hotel is made up of suites.
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
And the suites are pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. If you hear “value” and start picturing anything less than a spacious room with very, VERY comfy beds, a picnic table for meals, storage space, immaculately clean areas, and a surfboard coat-hanger — welp, you’re just not thinking about Surfside!
2. The hotel pool is in the shape of a surfboard.
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Of course the pool at Surfside Inn and Suites is shaped like a surfboard; I told you that the theming at this place has left nothing untouched! This surfboard-shaped pool would take more than 1,191 regular surfboards to fill the total square footage. So, yeah, the pool is huge, there are plenty of spots to sit by it, and the Sand Bar (which is, if it isn’t obvious, a bar) is right by the pool so you’re never too far from your next drink.
3.Speaking of drinks, all food and drink options throughout the hotel are below $12.
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
That means whether you’re craving a Breakfast Pizza in the morning or a Pipeline Burger with Bacon Jam in the evening — or if you’re craving both right now just from reading this — you’re eating real good and saving money while you do so.
4.The Shuttle Bus from the hotel to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and Universal CityWalk takes less than ten minutes.
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Ten minutes away from Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium milkshakes, and all the other incredible thrills at Universal Orlando Resort? OK, I’m in. Staying with Universal at Surfside Inn and Suites means you don’t have to pay for transportation to the parks and you get to ride in style with your fellow vacationers racing for the first row on all the coasters. PLUS! You get into the park before regular park guests with your access to Early Park Admission. That is a full hour before the parks officially open for you to experience.
5.There are more than 1,435 surfboards around the hotel.
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Each of these surfboards were made special by Quiet Flight and fit perfectly with the beachy vibes and tones throughout the hotel. Can you find all 1,435?

When traveling with your family, finding relaxing accommodations to stay at while not breaking the budget is key. All of Universal Orlando Resort’s uniquely-themed hotels offer an incredible array of benefits and amenities, but none meet the extra-affordable value and levels of relaxation needed for larger families quite like Universal’s Endless Summer Resort. This resort features Dockside Inn and Suites and Surfside Inn and Suites, both of which give you the surf culture and beach life vibes you’re looking for on a Florida vacation. There really is no comparison in Orlando when you look at the price value and pair it with amenities designed with families in mind and theme park perks exclusive to Universal hotel guests.
If you’re hooked and want to know more, we are sharing the top five reasons we think you’ll love staying at Dockside Inn and Suites for your family’s next Universal Orlando Resort vacation.
1. Exclusive Food and Drinks (Most Under $12!)
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
By far my favorite thing about Dockside Inn and Suites is the food and drinks. There are a plethora of unique options for the whole family like the Pier 8 Egg Muffin, Dockworker Wrap, or the Chicken and Waffles bucket. Don’t miss the fun Wet n’ Wild inspired cocktails you can get poolside (Wet n’ Wild was the longtime water park that was previously located where Universal’s Endless Summer Resort is now). And for craft beer drinkers, there is the Sunset Blonde, which is a Mango Blonde Ale brewed exclusively for the resort.
2. More Than Half of the Hotel is 2-Bedroom Suites
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
During vacation, your hotel is your home away from home. You want to be able to relax when you get back to your room after a day in the theme parks. Having a 2-bedroom suite gives you much-needed space to recharge for tomorrow. The kids can spread out and have their space, while mom and dad can get some privacy, too. You don’t even need to spend the extra cash for connecting rooms. Also, talk about spacious — these suites sleep up to six and have a kitchenette, picnic table for meals, double vanity, and plenty of suitcase storage.
3. A Huge Hotel Calls for Two HUGE Pools
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
When I’m looking at hotels for an upcoming vacation, one of the deciding factors is the pool because I know we’re going to spend a full day relaxing poolside. Dockside Inn and Suites makes it an easy choice for the sole fact that it has not one, but two massive pools. Plus, there’s a fun splash pad area for kids to run around in, and for mom and dad, two large pool bars to grab an umbrella drink.
4.There are More Than 1,000 Longboards Around the Hotel
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Universal’s Endless Summer Resort was designed by the same creative teams who bring the theme parks to life, so you know it’s going to be incredible with every detail. It’s inspired by surf culture and you see it come to life through every aspect of your stay, especially the design elements. Dockside Inn and Suites hooks into the chill and relaxing side of shore life with driftwood details, photorealistic artwork, overall color palette, and longboards. Each room has a custom-made longboard made by Quiet Flight just for Dockside, resulting in 1,024 longboards in total around the hotel!
5. It’s a Short Ride to the Theme Parks and an Even Shorter Walk to Surfside Inn and Suites
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Any chance you can save time on commuting during vacation is a plus. Staying at Dockside Inn and Suites gives you a direct ride to Universal CityWalk and the theme parks with just a short 5-10 minute ride on the shuttles that come every 15 minutes. Plus, after your short shuttle ride, you can get into the theme parks before regular day guests because of Early Park Admission. The extra bonus is you can take a short walk over to Surfside Inn and Suites right next door if you want to check out the surfboard-shaped pool or a different dining option. (Surfside Inn and Suites is temporarily suspending operations. Please click here for more information.)
These are just a few of my favorite things about Dockside Inn and Suites. Get all the details hereand share below what you’re looking forward to doing during your next vacation with us.

One of the consistent challenges of vacation planning for large families is finding a resort that can — both comfortably and affordably — accommodate a family of six in one room, while also offering unique theme park benefits. Those options have been somewhat limited and few and far between. Until now. We are sharing five reasons to stay at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites.
Image: Universal Orlando Resort
This challenge is no more for families today with our newest hotel Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites. This hotel (and its sister property, Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites) is the perfect value option for families of all sizes and comes packed with benefits for everyone. Having already stayed at Surfside Inn and Suites, I can personally tell you the Endless Summer Resort product exceeded all my family’s expectations. The quality of the food, rooms, service, and amenities were impressive and made our staycation so enjoyable.
Here’s everything you need to know about Dockside Inn and Suites:
Spacious Rooms
Image: Universal Orlando Resort
Dockside Inn and Suites has two towers painted with colors reminiscent of a sunset. These towers will be equipped with over 2,000 rooms, with over half of those rooms being spacious 2-Bedroom Suites that can accommodate up to six people, meaning families on a budget can pay for one suite for the whole family.
Let’s deep-dive into those suites a bit more. The 2-Bedroom Suite is honestly a game-changer; they mean families like the one I grew up in don’t have to buy multiple rooms to accomodate the whole crew.
There’s privacy between the bedrooms, a sizable kitchenette area with a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, a perfect picnic table for meals and hanging out, and a bathroom with separate bath and vanity areas so multiple people can get ready at once. These suites also feature three queen-sized beds, two TVs, and free WiFi. Sign me up for all of this.
The Price is Right
While the size is pretty incredible, here comes one of the best parts about Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites — the price. During our value season, rates begin as low as $79 per night for Standard Rooms and $120 per night for the 2-Bedroom suites, based on a four-night stay. My question for you is: how can you beat that? And I haven’t even mentioned…
The Theme Park Benefits
By staying at Dockside Inn and Suites, you have access to so many great perks throughout Universal Orlando…Early Park Admission (you’ll feel like you have the park practically to yourself!); complimentary transportation (five minute ride from my hotel to everything the Universal Orlando theme parks have to offer? I’m in!); and a room key that does so much more than open doors (purchases throughout the destination, complimentary club-to-club access in CityWalk, and a future keepsake from your vacation). Check out all the details here.
All-American Dining
Image: Universal Orlando Resort
When I am on a vacation at a theme park resort, convenience during my hotel stay is a big factor for my family and me. In order to maximize our time at the parks, we need a hotel that has food and drink options for the entire family at a reasonable price. Dockside Inn and Suites strikes the perfect balance for this need.
Pier 8 Market is the casual dining food court and market that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Pier 8 Market menu is super affordable, with most dishes priced under $12 (see what I mean by “reasonable price”?)! The hotel has an amazing lobby bar, the Sunset Lounge, that serves specialty cocktails and has its own craft beer, and a large pool bar, the Oasis Beach Bar.

This hotel was designed by the same creative minds that brought you everything you love about our theme parks, giving you an immersive experience only available at our destination. It’s exactly what my large family was looking for when I was growing up and now it’s here!
What’s the one thing you look forward to on vacation? Is it thrills and adventure? Maybe trying something new, or spending time with family you haven’t seen in awhile? How about a little relaxation, a way to slow down from the everyday routine, not worry about the usual stresses of life, and just savor every moment spent with your family?
Phil Klinkenberg, director of food and beverage for Dockside Inn and Suites, is sharing all of the details about the new food and drinks from Dockside Inn and Suites. Phil led the creation and execution of Dockside’s dining in collaboration with the chefs and managers of the new resort. Here’s what you can look forward to during your upcoming stay.
Breakfast
Kick start your morning before a day in Universal’s theme parks with breakfast from Pier 8 Market. You can enjoy a lighter option like fresh baked goods prepared daily, or indulge in a heartier meal like chicken and waffles.
Top Picks
Chicken and Waffles (served with maple syrup and butter)
Pier 8 Egg Muffin (bacon, egg, cheddar, onions, peppers and a side of hash browns)
Baja Burrito (chorizo, egg and cheese with salsa)
“With all Universal Orlando hotels, we accommodate guests’ dietary needs,” says Phil. “We pride ourselves on being able to customize and provide options like our Beyond Burger and this vegan avocado toast.”
Lunch
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Take a break from the pool and fuel up with refreshing options at Pier 8 Market (or grab your food and head back for a poolside meal!). One of the great perks about Pier 8 Market is that it’s themed to be an open-air market with easy-to-grab items, similar to what you would find down by the docks of a coastal town.
“Pier 8 Market is meant to feel like an actual market where you walk through the various food stalls and are able to select the items for your meal,” says Phil. “Whether it be our chicken and waffles, pizza or a burger, it’s all meant to be self-serve, grab and go.”
Top Picks
Hook & Batter (fish and chips)
Garden Pizza (you guessed it, a veggie pizza!)
Gulf to Shore (grilled market fish on a toasted bun)
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
“Our Dockworker Wrap is inspired by a dish that dockworkers actually put together,” Phil says. “They get a deli sandwich, a side of fries, and a drink. They would take the fries and put it directly on their sandwich to hold with one hand, and then the drink in the other hand, so they could eat and drink easily during their lunch break. We took that concept and made our Dockworker Wrap.”
Dinner
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
There’s no better way to end the day during a vacation than coming together as a family and having dinner. There are great options for families at Pier 8 Market with a variety of dishes that any member of the family can enjoy, as well as meals that meet bigger family needs like pizza.
Top Picks
BBQCB (burger with smoked bacon, cheddar, onion rings and bourbon bbq sauce)
The Joey Sandwich (hoagie with salami, capicola, soppressata, provolone cheese, roasted red pepper and toppings)
Stuffed Shells (I recommend a side of Deck Hand Garlic Knots too!)
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Try the Chicken and Waffles – 8 piece bucket of chicken, side of mashed potatoes, side of coleslaw, Belgian waffles and choice of sauce. The sauce choices are on point with the Sloping Sticky Sauce (bourbon bacon maple sauce), Rocket Man (spicy bbq), and Southern Hot (buffalo with a hint of honey).
“Dockside Inn and Suites is a family destination,” says Phil. “So, what the market does is provide something for everybody. In each of the areas in our market we’ll have options for the younger guests in our hotel. So, mom and dad can have what they want and kids can have what they want.”
Dessert
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
A meal isn’t complete without a sweet ending. Each food station in Pier 8 Market will have a signature dessert, as well as a variety of other classic treats you can grab. There will also be yogurt and smoothie machines that are perfect for those hot summer days.
Top Picks
Key Lime Pie (a Florida classic)
Cinnamon & Sugar Zeppoles (an italian treat consisting of fried fritter)
We’re sure that you’re going to love the S’mores – hot off the panini press with all the fixings, ginger-flavored bread with milk chocolate, and marshmallow. It’s ooey and gooey, perfect for the kids to split or the ‘big’ kids like me.
Drinks
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
Now, onto a really fun part of Dockside Inn and Suites — the signature drinks.
“The Sunset Lounge is going to be a fantastic little area for you to break away after a day in the theme parks,” says Phil. “We also have The Oasis Beach Bar. Both are a place for people to just kick back, relax, and have an excellently crafted cocktail or a craft beer.”
The theming of the drinks is just as fun as the cocktails themselves. Some of them are even named after slides you may recognize from a certain water park that used to be where Endless Summer Resort is now…
“The drinks at the Oasis Beach pool bar are named after the Wet n’ Wild rides like the Bubba Tub and the Mach Five,” he says. “We had a great time putting it together. We actually wrote the drink names before we came up with what the drinks would be.”
You’ll find cocktails themed to the hotel, as well as a craft beer that will be brewed for the resort.
Top Picks
Endless Summer Lemonade (vodka with lemon; this is the resort’s signature cocktail)
Sunset Blonde (mango blonde ale; this is the resort’s craft beer)
Red Sky at Night (Tequila cocktail with orange and lime flavors)
Drop Anchor (rum drink with orgeat and matcha)
Shore Thing (grapefruit vodka with lime and ginger beer)
Bubba Tub (signature 32oz Dockside bucket that all cocktails from The Oasis Beach Bar can be upgraded to)

Deep Dive Into the Inspiration
There is a common thread about the Dockside Inn and Suites dining experience: casual comfort. From the ease of selecting your food to the focus on comfort food options, the overall concept is to give a relaxing environment and experience for your family during your vacation.
“I’ve always said we offer people a vacation from the vacation that they’re on, so when they come back to their hotel they’re home,” says Phil. “I think Dockside Inn and Suites will give you that feeling of pure relaxation, no worries and no cares.”
So, what goes into developing the food and drinks for a new hotel?
“It really started with the original concept,” he explains. “Universal Creative and Loews Hotels partnered and came up with the idea for Endless Summer Resort. At the very beginning it was decided that Pier 8 Market was going to happen at Dockside Inn and Suites.”
Photo: Universal Orlando Resort
They knew they were going to have family-friendly options like pizza and burgers, but there was brainstorming along the way on how to add some unique twists.
“When I came on board, I just wrote down my wish list and what I thought would be fun,” says Phil. “Brainstorming is next with the managing director and chefs, brainstorming with other people that were inspired by talking to friends or reading other venue menus. Inspiration comes from so many different places. Some of it’s memory, some of it’s sensory. So, we take all of those ideas and kind of do a mashup of them. It’s all about collaboration.”
With Dockside Inn and Suites being his third hotel opening with Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando Resort, he is eager for guests to experience all the hotel will offer.
“You know what keeps me going is that experience you have when you bump into a guest in a hallway, or in the restaurant, and you have a conversation with them and realize the things your team did, or that you did personally, made a difference,” he says. “It’s hard to describe that feeling, but when you have it, you know it, and it’s a great feeling.”
Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites opens at Universal Orlando Resort on March 17.

Our work reflects an enduring commitment to photo-realism and the belief that a visual is one of the most powerful tools to communicating design.

Last fall, Universal Orlando Resort revealed that not one, but two all-new hotel options were coming to their property and they just shared with us a few more details about these properties. The new hotel complex will be known as Universal’s Endless Summer Resort. It will feature two hotels: Surfside Inn and Suites and Dockside Inn and Suites.

Just like Universal’s existing hotels, these all-new options will be a partnership with Loews Hotels & Co. Guests will enjoy a relaxed and easy vibe, and fun surf and beachy details will be woven in throughout the Surfside Inn and Suites & Dockside Inn and Suites experience.
One of the most exciting parts of all of this is the price. Universal’s Endless Summer Resort will introduce extra affordability to your Universal vacation. Both hotels will offer rates as low as $73 per night and introduce Universal Orlando’s all-new Value hotel category.
But don’t let the Value category fool you. When you stay at either Surfside Inn and Suites or Dockside Inn and Suites, your family will enjoy the exclusive benefits that only come with staying at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel. This includes Early Park Admission—allowing you to breeze into the theme parks each morning an hour before park opening—as well as free shuttle transportation to and from all three incredible theme parks and Universal CityWalk.

And speaking of family – Surfside Inn and Suites & Dockside Inn and Suites will have plenty of space to accommodate the entire clan. More than half of the rooms across both hotels – 1,450 to be exact – will be 2 Bedroom Suites.
These suites will feature two separate bedrooms, a kitchenette and dining area, and a bathroom with a separate shower and vanity so the whole family can get #ReadyForUniversal. The 2 Bedroom Suites will sleep six for as little as $111 per night.
We can’t wait to check out Universal’s Endless Summer Resort, where the sun, surf, sand and water meet. Surfside Inn and Suites will be the first hotel at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort and will open in the summer of 2019. Its sister property, Dockside Inn and Suites, will open in 2020.
Stay tuned for more updates because very soon you’ll be able to book your trip to Universal’s Endless Summer Resort and be among the first to stay at one of these all-new, extra-affordable, extra-fun hotels.
