We love the holidays at Disney World! From life size gingerbread houses to larger than life Christmas trees, here are the top six reasons you need to visit Disney World for the 2019 holiday season:

Magic Kingdom

The skies above Magic Kingdom Park will sparkle to life like never before during  Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party with the debut of an all-new fireworks show that can be enjoyed across the park!

The new fireworks show, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, will celebrate the magic of Christmas with medleys of beloved holiday songs, from “Joy to the World” and “Deck the Halls” to “Up on the House Top” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.”   You’ll be able to see the fireworks show during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select nights November 8 – December 22, 2019.

Along with the new show, each of this year’s 23 nights of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will feature performances of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas and Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration stage show.  And during A Frozen Holiday Wish stage show, Queen Elsa will magically transform Cinderella Castle with glistening ice.

The 2019 line-up of celebrity narrators confirmed to-date for the popular Candlelight Processional just launched on the Blog for the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. This special event runs November 29-December 30, where you’re invited to discover holiday cheer throughout Epcot and across all 11 World Showcase pavilions.

Also at Epcot, from November 29, 2019, through December 30, 2019, guests will be immersed in a vast world of holiday decorations and entertainment, themed merchandise, festive cuisine and costumed storytellers from the 11 World Showcase nations.

Special Holiday Kitchens sprinkled throughout World Showcase will serve up tasty treats inspired by treasured holiday recipes from across the globe. And pavilions will come alive with the sights and sounds of special entertainment celebrating each country’s holiday heritage with Santa and Mrs. Claus greeting guests at The American Adventure pavilion.

Guests can also participate in Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree Scavenger Hunt to scout World Showcase locations looking for the famous chipmunks and their ornaments. Completed maps (available for purchase) are returned for a special festive surprise, courtesy of the chipmunk duo.

And this year, with its premiere scheduled for October 1, 2019, holiday guests will be among the first to view “Epcot Forever,” a new nighttime spectacular bursting above World Showcase Lagoon.

For the first time in its two-decade history, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will introduce festive new entertainment and holiday décor in every land.

Beginning November 8, 2019, when you cross the bridge to Discovery Island, you’ll find yourself in the midst of a celebration of winter. By day, stylized, life-sized animal puppets mingle with villagers who make the island their home. As day becomes night, rooftop luminaries in animal shapes and bird lanterns throughout Discovery Island will bring a warm glow to the village.

Also, as the sun sets, the Tree of Life will awaken with a series of wintry tales emerging from within, backed by a heartwarming holiday musical score. Between awakening moments, the Tree of Life will shimmer and sparkle throughout the night, alive with the magic of nature and the spirit of the holidays.

Disney Springs

Guests who make a holiday list can check it twice as they breeze among dozens of trendy brand-name stores and a large and varied collection of Disney merchandise at Disney Springs.  There are amazing dining spots to explore and this year’s live entertainment will include toy soldier stilt walkers, carolers and Living Statues in holiday attire. Holiday decorations set the colorful stage for Disney Springs festivities, which run Nov. 8, 2019, to Jan. 5, 2020.

If you’re visiting the popular Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs this season, you will be treated to custom-decorated holiday trees, each dedicated to a popular Disney theme featuring characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and others.

At Santa’s Chalet, a jolly Santa Claus will welcome guests until December 24.

And you’re invited to also join in the complimentary Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt and discover where the mischievous Experiment 626 is hiding.

Top Five Things to Do During the Holidays at Disney World

Believe it or not… the Walt Disney World Resort truly does become more magical during the holiday season. With special events throughout the parks, beautiful decorations throughout the parks and resorts, it is one of the best time of year to visit.

Here are the top five things to do during the holidays at Disney World:

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party: This separate ticket event is held on select nights in November and December from 7 pm to 12 am at Magic Kingdom Park. Although there is an added cost for this experience, you get to enjoy unlimited hot cocoa, apple juice, cookies, and apple sliced throughout the evening; Once Upon a Christmastime Parade; a Frozen Holiday Wish; the Jungle Cruise transforms into the Jingle Cruise; Holiday Wishes fireworks spectacular; two dance parties; rare character meet and greets and so much more!

Flurry of Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: The Hollywood Tower Hotel transforms with projections and even “snow” along Sunset Boulevard during Sunset Seasons Greetings where guests can enjoy four stories about some of our favorite Disney characters. Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam is a fun nighttime show projected onto the Chinese Theater. Wayne and Lanny from ABC’s Prep & Landing need our help to save Santa Claus and bring him back to the North Pole in time for Christmas Day!

Epcot International Festival of the Holidays: The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays includes holiday kitchens featuring seasonal recipes, Chip & Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree scavenger hunt around the World Showcase, Candlelight Processional, and more. Candlelight Processional is always a guest favorite, featuring a celebrity narrator reading the Christmas story and accompanied by a fifty piece orchestra and full choir. Even with three readings nightly, this event fills quickly so we do strongly recommend the Candlelight Processional dining packages to reserve your spot.

Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs: 2016 was the first year that Disney created the Christmas Tree Trail at Disney Springs and it has grown each year since! With twenty-five trees planned for 2018, all inspired by our favorite Disney movies and characters, this is a great place for photo opportunities or even a little inspiration for your Disney decorated trees at home.

Resort Decorations: All of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels decorate for the holiday season with Christmas trees, wreaths, and more. However, some have over the top decorations that you just have to see for yourself! The most incredible is probably the life size gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Although you won’t want to miss the life size gingerbread carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort or the gingerbread castle at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, either. There are even sleigh rides through Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground!
