Unlocking Unforgettable Journeys: 4 Reasons Why Using a Travel Advisor Is a Smart Choice

In an era of seemingly endless information and DIY travel planning, the invaluable role of a travel advisor shines brighter than ever. These experts in the realm of exploration offer a wealth of benefits that transcend mere convenience. From crafting tailored itineraries to accessing exclusive deals, navigating complex logistics, and providing insider insights, the reasons to collaborate with a travel advisor are both compelling and diverse. In this fast-paced world, where time is precious and experiences are treasured, the guidance of a skilled travel advisor transforms mere trips into unforgettable journeys.

Some people still sadly associate using a travel advisor with paying more money, when in actual fact – it’s quite the opposite. From getting you the best seats on the plane to working behind the scenes to ensure your vacation goes off without a hitch – after using a great travel advisor once, I personally guarantee you’ll be hooked!

Save Time

Ask yourself, how much is your time worth? Expedia’s research indicates the average American spends 22.95 hours booking a trip in the 6 weeks before departure. That’s one hour a night for nearly three weeks or nearly three entire workdays. Is this time you can afford to lose?

Save Money

Travel advisors often have access to wholesale rates and exclusive deals that the general public does not. As such, they can pass these savings on to you – their client. Most advisors make their money through commissions paid by hotels, tour operators, cruise lines, etc – not through adding on extra charges for their clients. Travel advisors who do charge fees are charging for the trip planning process – remember those 22.95 hours I referenced in the paragraph above? They’re working, researching, and customizing the perfect journey for you, and some charge fees for this type of work.

Planning travel has never been more complicated than in 2021 and beyond. From quarantine restrictions to PCR testing, an expert agent will save you countless hours in research and logistics alone – that’s worth its weight in gold.

Avoid Hassles

Booking with a third-party site may feel like the obvious choice, but websites like Expedia can’t connect the dots. Sure, you could book a few nights at a hotel, but can you arrange the car service, the late-night check-in, the adjoining rooms next door to each other? Travel advisors take the hassle out of the trip planning process and can make it fun again.

By now we’ve probably all heard horror stories of trips booked immediately before Covid, and cancellations or refunds that went awry. When you book with a travel advisor and (for whatever reason) you’re unable to go on your trip – you don’t have to lift a finger. It won’t be you waiting on hold with the airline, or trying to argue about a credit vs a refund. Your travel advisor has your back and is looking out for your best interests every step of the way, and that includes when things go sideways.

Check into your hotel and your room is not to your liking? Your travel advisor often has special relationships with hotels, and they can (hopefully) rectify the situation seamlessly, without you having to get on the phone and ask for the manager.

Enjoy Upgrades & Connections

Everyone loves a good upgrade. From complimentary breakfast to room upgrades, most travel advisors can score their client’s great perks when they book with them. In addition, travel advisors are well connected. A travel advisor’s job is to be the expert, and this means traveling to countless destinations, and building relationships with hoteliers, tour operators, even restauranteurs. Don’t discount their ability to score you that hard-to-book seat at a new restaurant, or surprise you with an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience while on a tour.

Top 7 Reasons Why You Should Honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is the perfect honeymoon destination for couples who want the best of both worlds, having both romantic luxuries as well as experiencing authentic culture. Puerto Vallarta has it all, from amazing restaurants to super-hot nightlife to relaxing beachfront walks. Puerto Vallarta is also full of history, beautiful landscapes, great cuisine, and luxury resort choices.

The Gem of Mexico’s Pacific Coast

Puerto Vallarta, situated on Mexico’s Pacific coast, is a popular destination for
honeymooners. Couples are enchanted by its stunning beaches, abundant water sports
opportunities, and lively atmosphere.

There is something unique about the city center. It exudes a charming small-town
ambiance. The cobblestone streets, the magnificent cathedral, the boutique shops that
pull you in with their magnetic charm, and the diverse array of restaurants, clubs, and
bars are factors that you are unlikely to find in any other popular honeymoon
destination.

Puerto Vallarta has a well-established tourist infrastructure, with numerous upscale
resorts, beachfront hotels, and high-end dining options. The picturesque setting includes a well-designed and modern oceanfront. The majestic Sierra Madre
Mountains to the city’s east are popular attractions.

While the natural scenery is incredible, Puerto Vallarta also offers a wealth of other
attractions. You will have a wonderful time exploring its streets, savoring delectable
local cuisine, browsing through unique boutiques, and reveling in the vibrant nightlife
at its famous nightclubs. Notably, the city has some of the friendliest people on Earth.

The place is a honeymoon paradise for the various things you can do together. Let’s
explore some of them:

Exploring The Malecón Boardwalk

The best way to begin your romantic getaway in Puerto Vallarta is to visit the Malecón
boardwalk, a popular attraction in the city. There are few honeymooning experiences to
match strolling the entire boardwalk in the backdrop of the setting sun. The view is
incredibly picturesque. This is peak business time for vendors and performers.

You can get a range of local desserts and a host of Mexican handmade crafts such as
jewelry, paintings, dolls, and other classics.

Don’t forget to get your caricature done by the artists offering their skills near the
Puerto Vallarta board in Malecon. Expert caricature artists can draw your picture in 10
minutes, but it could be the best memento of your honeymoon trip.

Cerro de la Cruz – Here We Come!

Embarking on a hike to Cerro de la Cruz guarantees a genuinely enchanting experience
in Puerto Vallarta. It’s perfect for those who love a little bit of outdoor physical activity.
Situated high above the city in the hills, this trek entails climbing numerous steps.

The ascent is not overly strenuous, but avoid hiking during the scorching midday hours,
particularly in July and August. Reaching the apex of Cerro de la Cruz feels like
stepping into a cherished trance. The serenity and tranquility will leave you stunned.
The awe-inspiring panorama of the entire city and the sapphire ocean beyond is
beyond comparison.

Early Morning Sunrise – The Puerto Vallarta One Is Different!

Puerto Vallarta offers breathtaking beauty in its ocean, buildings, flowers, and people.
However, the awe-inspiring experience of watching the sunrise with your partner is of
a different level. Watching the sunrise may not seem exciting and unique, but Puerto
Vallarta makes it one. You must witness it firsthand to understand why this one makes
it to the must-do list.

Whale Watching – Don’t Miss This One

Whale watching can be easily among the unforgettable memories you gather while on
a honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta. Witness the mesmerizing beauty of humpback whales
in Banderas Bay while savoring the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

Choose a good tour guide who can take you to picturesque sea-level locations,
providing an up-close encounter with humpback whales in their natural habitat. Get
some fantastic clicks from unique vantage points, offering a perspective rarely
attainable in the natural world.

The whale watching season in Puerto Vallarta commences in December and extends
until March. Occasionally, whales can be spotted as early as November or as late as
May. The best time to observe humpback whales is during January and February.

A Day Trip to Tequila – Do It If You Love Mezcal

The journey from Puerto Vallarta to Tequila in Jalisco is around three hours by car. It
may be a bit of a distance for honeymoon couples to drive on their own. But taking a
tequila tour, with the added bonus of a scenic drive through the breathtaking
countryside, is an experience you must not miss for anything.

Tequila and mezcal enthusiasts can check for reliable operators that offer day trips and
the opportunity to visit a couple of tequila factories. You can explore the charming
town alongside. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also find some excellent
local restaurants serving the best delicacies. Explore that too!

Best Times To Go Honeymooning In Puerto Vallarta

If you’re planning a honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, it’s important to consider the best
times of year to visit. Here are some factors to consider:

Weather

The best time to visit Puerto Vallarta is during the dry season, which runs from
November to April. Expect sunny skies and warm temperatures. May to October is the
rainy season, so be prepared for afternoon showers and higher humidity.

Crowds

The high season in Puerto Vallarta is from December to March when tourists generally
flock to the area to escape the winter weather in their home countries. Do you prefer a
quieter and less crowded atmosphere? Consider traveling during the shoulder seasons
of April to June or September to November.

Budget

Prices for accommodations and activities tend to be higher during the high season. If
you’re on a tight budget or want to save money, consider traveling during the low
season of July to August. Else, book your trip well in advance to benefit from early bird
deals.

Ultimately, the best time for your Puerto Vallarta honeymoon will depend on your
preferences and priorities.

As you can see, there are endless things to enjoy on a honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta. Throughout the years, Puerto Vallarta was given nicknames such as “The Pearl of the Pacific”, “The Romantic City”, and “The Playground of Mexico.” From walking around and exploring the charming town to indulging in delicious cuisine at local restaurants and stands, you can definitely create lifelong memories. Puerto Vallarta’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality make it a perfect destination for any couple celebrating their honeymoon.

5 Ways to Truly ENJOY Traveling with Kids

Ah, children. Our sweet angel-faced offspring who bring us so much joy, right up until the moment they start karate kicking the seat in front of them on an airplane… Or fighting with their siblings in the back seat during a road trip. Traveling with kids can be an incredibly rewarding and memorable experience, but it often comes with its fair share of challenges.

From restless toddlers to moody teenagers, there’s a spectrum of emotions and needs to balance while on the road. However, with a bit of preparation and the right mindset, you can turn your family adventures into joyful and enriching journeys that everyone will cherish. In this blog post, we’re thrilled to share five valuable strategies that will not only make traveling with kids smoother but also help you truly enjoy every moment of your exploration together.

Here are five ways to survive (and even thrive) while traveling with kids, before you go diving for some Xanax or a boatload of tequila…

Expectations

Have them, lower them, and then keep repeating them to yourself. Traveling with children is different than traveling kid-free, and is often more of a ‘trip’ than a relaxing vacation. Knowing beforehand that you’ll be making memories, having fun, but quite possibly not sleeping in or getting much rest will help shoulder any disappointment at a vacation that ‘could have been’.

Compromise

Sure, we’d all love a culturally rich day of strolling museums or enjoying a ten-course tasting menu at a new restaurant – but will that keep your smallest travelers happy? Finding activities that can please everyone from tiny tots to adventurous teens may be tricky – but it’s certainly not impossible. The right destination, resort, and especially travel advisor can arrange activities that suit the entire family’s interests, abilities, and ages.

Say Yes to Help

While it’s a luxury not all can afford, many resorts offer licensed nannies or babysitters – and in return, you get a few hours to yourself. Have a doting grandparent that would spring at the chance to spend more time with their grandkids? Again, another luxury not everyone has in their lives – but if you do, this may be the perfect opportunity to invite them on a dream holiday, and get a bit of built-in babysitting to boot!

Bend, But Don’t Break

Bedtimes, healthy meals, and routines are all great. However, it may be worth bending the rules just a bit to not be bound to super-strict guidelines while on holiday. You’re on vacation, remember? Know your hard lines and choose when to bend your rules to allow for a memorable vacation where everyone’s having a good time. This could mean your kids don’t touch a vegetable for days or stay up a bit later than usual. Whatever works best for you, your family, and your sanity!

Entertainment Coordinator: At Your Service!

Consider building a special ‘vacation’ bag, for your kiddos to only open during their travels. Fill it with some new toys, books, stickers, whatever your kiddos happen to be into these days – pack it chock full. Got a tablet and are ok with your kiddos watching tv? Download a few programs in advance, so WiFi issues won’t hinder their entertainment (aka your sweet moment of silence), and for the sake of all that is holy: GET THEM HEADPHONES, this is your moment of silence, remember?

Remember, the essence of family travel lies in creating lasting memories and fostering connections. By following these five strategies – embracing flexibility, involving kids in the planning process, prioritizing downtime, finding age-appropriate activities, and savoring the small moments – you’ll transform your trips from being mere vacations to becoming cherished chapters in your family’s story. Every laugh, every curiosity-filled question, and every shared experience will contribute to a treasure trove of memories that your kids will carry with them throughout their lives. So, pack your bags, embark on those adventures, and relish the joy that comes with traveling with your beloved kids.

How to Choose The Best Time of Year for a Destination Wedding in Mexico or the Caribbean

Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular in recent years, with
couples opting for picturesque locations to tie the knot. The Caribbean and Mexico
are two of the most sought-after destinations for a wedding. With their beautiful beaches, warm weather, and vibrant culture, these destinations provide the perfect backdrop for a dream wedding.

However, choosing the right time of year to have your destination wedding is crucial to ensure that you and your guests have the best experience possible. You can spend hours researching locations and resorts online and compare services, food and drinks and prices…but you might overlook the most important detail: what time of year do you have to visit to avoid hurricanes and tropical depressions.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect weather wise for your destination wedding in the
tropics based on the time of year. I’ve even included some tips on choosing the best time of year for a destination wedding in Mexico or the Caribbean, if you’re considering tying the knot during hurricane season.

Let’s jump into the weather you can expect for your destination wedding in the Caribbean or Mexico based on the time of year that you travel.

If you want to know the best time of year to have a destination wedding in the Caribbean and Mexico, it is between December to April. This is the region’s dry season when rainfall is minimal, and the temperature is mild and comfortable, averaging around 78 to 82 degrees Farhenheit. Hello sunshine!

While the dry season is safer bet for a weather-friendly Caribbean or Mexico wedding, it’s not a guarantee. Rain and wind can still occur. Additionally, it’s essential to note that it’s also peak tourist season. This means that flights and accommodation are likely to be higher than at other times of the year. Bummer, I know.

Based on my experience, the most popular months to have a destination wedding are in May and November. This would be considered “shoulder season” where you aren’t really dealing with the higher “peak tourist” prices, but also don’t have as much concern with the weather. Hooray!

The struggle there is that the dates at the best resorts and venues book very quickly. So, if you want to plan a destination wedding in May or November, do not waste time or you’ll end up compromising on the venue.

So, what happens if the dry season months don’t work well for you and you are hosting your destination wedding in the Summer or Fall months, when hurricanes could develop?

First, let me put your mind at ease. Just because it is “hurricane season” doesn’t mean that a hurricane will develop.

Also, there are some destinations that are “safer” during the tropical season, so don’t throw in the towel quite yet!

Here are some tips on choosing the best time of year for a destination wedding in Mexico or the Caribbean to help avoid having your big day ruined by a storm.

Choose your wedding date wisely

As mentioned above, the best way to avoid hurricane season when planning your destination wedding is to choose a date outside of the peak months. If that isn’t possible, consider these general rules of thumb… Hurricane season runs from June to November, with the most active months being August, September, & October. If possible consider a wedding in June, July, Mid to Late November, or even early December.

Research the Weather Patterns

Each destination has different weather patterns during hurricane season, so do your research before choosing a location. Some islands or regions may be more prone to hurricanes than others. For example, the northern Caribbean islands are at higher risk than the southern ones. Consider speaking with a travel advisor who specializes in weddings to help you pick the right time and location.

Consider Wedding & Travel Insurance

Wedding insurance can provide a financial safety net in case of a hurricane or other natural disaster. It can cover unexpected expenses such as cancellations, postponements, or rescheduling fees. It’s important to note that not all wedding insurance policies cover natural disasters, so be sure to read the fine print before purchasing a policy.

Travel insurance is recommended for you and your guests. In case the weather prevents you from arriving to your destination, or requires you or your guests to depart early, it will protect your investment. Travel insurance is always recommended, but during the tropical season, it is much more imperative, so I encourage you to encourage your guests to have the right coverage.

Have a Backup Plan

Regardless of the date of your wedding, it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan in case of unexpected weather. When booking your venue and vendors, ask about their contingency plans in case of inclement weather. For example, some resorts may have indoor facilities or covered areas that can serve as backup locations for the ceremony or reception. It’s always a bonus when you love the back-up venue as much as your chosen outdoor venue.

Stay Updated on Weather Forecasts

If you’re planning a wedding during hurricane season, be sure to stay informed about any potential tropical storms or hurricanes that could impact your wedding plans. Sign up for weather alerts, monitor weather websites, and keep in touch with your vendors and venue. Be prepared to make changes if necessary and I advise to make a swift decision, getting the advice of the onsite wedding team, if things are not looking promising on your wedding day.

If the wedding team at your venue advises you to change to an indoor venue due the weather report, and you choose to move forward with an outdoor event, they will likely have you sign a contract. If weather does disrupt the wedding there will be a fee to set up the wedding decor again in the back-up location.

In conclusion, while the Caribbean and Mexico offer stunning wedding destinations,
it’s important to be mindful of hurricane season. By following these tips for choosing the best time of year for a destination wedding and doing your research, you can plan a beautiful and stress-free wedding. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the region’s stunning beauty, indulge in outdoor activities, and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.

Many couples don’t know all the ins and outs of planning a great honeymoon! If you’re like most people, you probably have this idea, that you’ll just find a resort somewhere in a beautiful location, book it, get married, and head off to honeymoon bliss! But, as you start planning your honeymoon, it can be stressful and overwhelming trying to plan a honeymoon that gives you EXACTLY what you want! There is a lot of planning that comes into play to make sure you have a honeymoon full of relaxation & romance, instead of disappointment and frustration. There’s so much to consider, from which destination to choose, the best resort to stay at, as well as choosing an air itinerary that won’t have you checking in late at night, losing the entire first day of your honeymoon to travel!

This honeymoon planning guide is exactly what you need to have a honeymoon that will truly be fabulous! These 8 steps will help you put all of the pieces together for a relaxing and pampering honeymoon in paradise.

Ultimate Honeymoon Planning Guide: 8 Things You Need to Know for the Perfect Honeymoon

Ok, so let’s jump into these six honeymoon essentials!

1. Create a “Honeymoon Wish List”

Ultimate Honeymoon Planning Guide: 8 Things You Need to Know for the Perfect Honeymoon

Before you do any honeymoon planning, you and your future spouse need to
take some time to make a list together of what you both are hoping to get out of
your honeymoon. I call it a “honeymoon wishlist” Is gourmet food important to
you, do you prefer ala cart vs. buffet restaurants? Do you care more about
having a stunning honeymoon suite, or are you ok with the standard room? Are
you both wanting a beautiful long stretch of swimmable beach, or are pools
more important to you? What type of excursions would you like to enjoy? You
will want to have at least some of these settled before you start researching
destinations and resorts.

2. Don’t Base Your Decisions Solely on Recommendations

Ultimate Honeymoon Planning Guide: 8 Things You Need to Know for the Perfect Honeymoon

Recommendations are great, but you have to remember that you are a completely different couple than they are. What is great for one couple, may not be great for you! Your honeymoon is pretty important, you don’t want to take a chance on having an underwhelming or poor experience. It’s fine to take a recommendation, but use it as a starting point, not your end point. And PLEASE, don’t go to Trip Advisor until you’ve narrowed your selection of honeymoon resorts down to two or three options!

3. Do This Instead

Ultimate Honeymoon Planning Guide: 8 Things You Need to Know for the Perfect Honeymoon

Remember that list I told you to create in point number 1? Once you have that
list made, you’ll want to start thinking about past travel experiences, both good
and bad… What did you like or love about a trip you took, or what did you dislike
or hate, about a past vacation or getaway? Add these to your “honeymoon wish
list”. Now you will be ready to move on to point number 4.

4. Make a List of Potential Honeymoon Destinations

Now it’s time to start making a list of potential honeymoon destinations! Use
your honeymoon wish list to help you narrow down destinations that offer what
is on your list, then make a list of potential honeymoon resorts.
