(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

On all four Disney ships, there are really cool spaces designed specifically for these age groups. Both Edge (ages 11-14) and Vibe (ages 14-17) feature high-tech entertainment and offer fun group activities hosted by youth counselors throughout the cruise. Here’s a glimpse at some of the fun your tweens and teens can expect on your family cruise vacation…

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Star Wars: Jedi Challenges – Tweens and teens can now have virtual Star Wars battles in both Edge and Vibe. This new augmented reality experience created by Disney and Lenovo lets you train and battle as a Jedi across six planets from the Star Wars universe. You can also compete in Holochess, the ultimate game of concentration and strategy. Using a smartphone-powered AR headset and a Lightsaber Controller modeled after Rey’s lightsaber, Jedi Challenges allows you to experience Star Wars in ways never before possible. Parents, be sure to stop by Edge and Vibe during Open House to try it yourself!

Disney Dance Camp – Exclusively on the Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic, tweens and teens can take the spotlight on the center stage. After dancers from our Broadway-style musicals teach them a choreographed number, family and friends are invited to see the new stars perform on stage.

The Lion King Experience Starring You! – Another exclusive to the Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic, tweens with dreams of being a star can learn and perform selections from the Broadway musical “The Lion King” during their time in Edge. Hakuna Matata!

Vibe Movie Makers – In Vibe, teens learn the skills of movie making. Whether the teens are on screen or behind the camera, they are sure to have fun making a one-of-a-kind movie based on the best of Disney.

Flash Mob – Teens on the Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder have the chance to learn a flash mob dance, themed to “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Frozen” or “Aladdin.” After practice makes perfect, they’ll perform it for other guests on the cruise.

Descendant’s Den DJ Spin Off – Exclusively in Edge, tweens have Descendants-style fun with DJ lessons, games, singing, dancing, a photo booth and plenty of other fun.

These special activities are in addition to the fun available all throughout the cruise, such as dance parties, video gameplay, movies, karaoke and other group games. Edge and Vibe are the perfect spots for teens and tweens who want a little independence. With comfy couches, large-screen TVs and other chill-out necessities, the trendy and tranquil areas offer a getaway for tweens and teens to set their own vacation agenda—whether being a part of the group fun or just hanging out with new friends.

Sailings to Bermuda, Bahamas and Canada from New York
The Disney Magic will return to New York in September 2019 for an exclusive selection of departures to a diverse collection of destinations, including luxurious Bermuda, sun-kissed Bahamas and historic New Brunswick, Canada.

Three special five-night cruises feature two days in Bermuda, allowing extra time for guests to indulge in the island nation’s famous pink-sand beaches, world-class shopping, abundant water activities and distinctive blend of British and Caribbean culture.

A single five-night cruise to Canada will transport guests from New York to charming Saint John, New Brunswick with a stop in Bar Harbor, Maine. Saint John is the home of majestic natural phenomena like the renowned Reversing Falls and the world’s highest tides, located where the Saint John River meets the Bay of Fundy.

And during two seven-night sailings from New York to the Bahamas, cruisers will be treated to a double-dose of pixie dust. We are pairing a stop at Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay, with a magical day at Port Canaveral, Florida… where every guest receives a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket and round-trip transportation to the theme parks in nearby Orlando!

Raspberry Macarons Recipe from Disney Fantasy’s Sweet on You

Raspberry Macarons Recipe from Disney Fantasy’s Sweet on You

Sweet on You is one of my favorite new spots aboard the Disney Fantasy, not only for the amazing desserts but also for the super cute atmosphere that brings you into the world of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. One fun fact about the new space is that the artwork on the walls was created by the animators from the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

The music playing in the background makes you feel as if you’re walking into a patisserie right off the streets of Paris, so it’s fitting that this premium sweet shop serves a variety of hand-crafted desserts, including macarons. The Disney Parks Blog recently shared the raspberry macarons recipe for you to make at home. When you’re sailing on a 7-night Disney Fantasy cruise, be sure to try out the other flavors, as I can attest that each one is delicious!

Raspberry Macarons Recipe from Disney Fantasy’s Sweet on You
Makes 20 macarons

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup almond blanched flour
  • 2/3 tbs egg whites, divided
  • ½ tsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup purified water
  • 1 cup raspberry jam

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
2. Combine powdered sugar and almond flour in an electric mixer until fine. Add 1/3 tbs egg whites and food coloring to make a paste in the electric mixer.Note: Make sure the egg whites are room temperature before using.
3. Boil the sugar and water in a small pot and bring to 260 degrees F. Whip 1/3 tbs egg whites. Pour the hot sugar syrup into the egg whites on the side of the bowl and whip at a high speed until thickened to form the meringue.
4. Add 1/3 of the meringue to the almond flour mixture and combine, repeating with the rest of the meringue and making sure to deflate the mixture.
5. Fill a piping bag with a round #6 tip with the mixture. Place wax paper onto a baking sheet, and pipe the mixture into ¾ inch round discs onto the sheet. Let sit for 35 minutes before baking in the oven.
6. Place the macaroons in the oven and immediately turn down the oven temperature to 285 degrees F. Bake for ten minutes and then take out of the oven to cool.
7. When cool, turn over half of the macarons and pipe raspberry jam on the flat surface. Place another macaron on top of the jam.
