Late 2014 Disney Springs Update from Disney World

Chances are by now you’ve heard about the transformation happening at Downtown Disney at Disney World which will eventually become Disney Springs. There is plenty of construction there and we’re finally seeing some progress and changes making way for Disney Springs. Two new restaurants, Morimoto Asia and The BOATHOUSE, were recently announced to be coming to Disney Springs. Here is a late 2014 Disney Springs update!

SBC707942-613x408

Walt Disney Imagineering has installed a Springs Bottling Co. Marquee on top of the building that is the future location of Morimoto Asia. The sign is part of the Disney Springs story which pays tribute to Florida’s waterfront towns at the turn of the century since the building was formerly used as Springs Bottling Co., the town’s bottling company. The inside of Morimoto Asia will continue to honor the theme and history of Disney Springs.

Check out this time-lapse video of how the Imagineers put up the new marquee literally over night! The new sign is already part of the illuminated nighttime skyline at Downtown Disney!

The Waterview Stage, which can be found adjacent to the future home of The BOATHOUSE, is already home to nightly entertainment as well as spectacular views of Village Lake. You can find specific showtimes on a Times Guide.

Disney Springs

The Food Trucks at Exposition Park on the West Side will be opening tomorrow, Tuesday, November 25, 2014. This will be the permanent home for the Downtown Disney owned and operated food trucks that serve delicious culinary creations along the water. The food trucks have items from Disney Parks such as chicken and waffles or tandoori spiced shrimp. The area will offer additional seating for dinners and shaded areas during the day.

The Landing, the first phase of Disney Springs, has already brought a new pedestrian bridge between Portobello and Paradiso 37. This makes it easier to access The West Side than ever before. Plus,

The West Garage (the first of two planned garages for Disney Springs) is opening in phases and is now available for guest parking!

By the time Disney Springs is complete, there will be:

  • Dedicated bus lanes separate from the traffic for guests using the buses
  • A beautiful spring as the center of the new Disney Springs
  • Marketplace Causeway connecting T-Rex to Rainforest Cafe

There are a lot of exciting transformations and additions happening at Disney Springs! Which are you most looking forward to seeing?

Downtown Disney and Disney Springs Update

disney springs 2

It has been almost a year since the Walt Disney World Resort announced the expansion of Downtown Disney to become Disney Springs. This multi-year project is well under way now so I wanted to share with you some updates on the progress of Disney Springs that the Disney Parks Blog shared with us.

One of the newest, and most visible, additions to Downtown Disney is the new pedestrian walkway that connects the West Side and Pleasure Island. This temporary walkway will help with traffic flow and also make it easier to travel from one district to the other. Plus, the beautiful boardwalk meanders along Village Lake to offer a spectacular waterfront view.

Here are the latest additions and changes from Downtown Disney:

  • Fit2Run, the Runners Superstore, opened just last month. The store features Premier footwear, apparel, GPS, performance sunglasses and more.
  • The first of four themed Food Trucks made its debut during Festival of the Masters. Featuring a variety of delectable meatballs, the Superstar Catering Truck was a hit with guests. Additional trucks will continue to roll in soon!

If you’ll be checking out the newest offerings at Downtown Disney, don’t forget to make use of the new pedestrian walkway, with entrances located near Characters in Flight and Paradiso 37.

What are you most looking forward to at Disney Springs?
