Right now, there are so many new things to see and do at the Disneyland Resort, that it’s a great time to visit! As the Southern California sun shines bright, here are some ways to stay cool at Disneyland during your visit:

First up is Disneyland park!

Break away from the bright sun in a galaxy far, far away at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Within the planet of Batuu, you’ll find many cool places!

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

In Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, you can start cooling off in the cavernous path to the Main Hold of the Millennium Falcon. Once you reach this famous space, you can hang out around the Dejarik (chess) table for a few minutes before taking the controls of the fastest ship in the galaxy toward adventure and, ah, yes, a galactic breeze.

As you roam Batuu, head over to the Milk Stand to enjoy a refreshing Blue Milk and Green Milk – these frozen concoctions are sure to cool you down.

For crafty libations, we recommend Oga’s Cantina. This watering hole is where weary travelers of all ages can join together to refuel after a long day of adventuring. Hang out with DJ R-3X and sip on one of the many out-of-this-world non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverages. Just be sure to make a reservation to visit the cantina before you go!

Around Disneyland park, guests can stay cool at guest-favorite attractions like Splash MountainMatterhorn BobsledsHaunted MansionPeter Pan’s Flight and many others.

And of course, chill out with a Dole Whip Float from Tiki Juice Bar or The Tropical Hideaway, a Mint Julep in New Orleans Square or a delicious old-fashioned ice cream at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor.

Next, is Disney California Adventure park!

Head to Hollywood Land and experience the newly opened 3D movie musical “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” in the Sunset Showcase Theater. In the show, Donald stirs up some musical mayhem while you get swept into the fantastic world of classic Disney animated musical sequences, including “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Peter Pan” and “Aladdin.” Fun fact: Some scenes are super breezy!

You can also take refreshing flight on Soarin’ Around the World, get lightly drizzled or even soaked on Grizzly River Run, go on a journey with The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, join a thrilling mission with Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, test your illustration skills in Animation Academy or take a break as you’re transported to Arendelle during the theatrical performance, “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” in Hollywood Land.

Disney California Adventure also offers amazing cold treats, like the lemon soft-serve at Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats on Pixar Pier, the hand-dipped ice cream bar at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, Memory Refreshers from Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff and even a delicious fruit smoothie from Schmoozies! in Hollywood Land.

Top Six Things to Do on a Rainy Day at Disneyland Resort

From the Disney Parks Blog:

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

A little rain should never put a damper on a day of fun at the Disneyland Resort. In fact, it can be a great time to explore and enjoy the parks. Here are a few tips to ensure you make the most out of a rainy day at Disneyland Resort.

Prepare for the weather. It’s a good idea to wear comfortable, warm clothing. I also recommend wearing water-resistant footwear, and packing an extra pair of socks! If rain catches you by surprise, many Disneyland Resort merchandise locations offer ponchos and umbrellas. If you don’t see them on the shelves, just ask a cast member.

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

Enjoy favorite indoor attractions. There are numerous indoor attractions that are not only fun, but also keep you dry! My favorites are Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland park and Soarin’ Around the World in Disney California Adventure park. Check out the full list of indoor attractions on Disneyland.com.

Go again (and again). Rainy days can also mean more opportunities to ride favorite attractions! Be sure to check the Disneyland App for attraction wait times and other information.

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

Time to dine. Make a dining reservation and enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner with magical touches! Feast on Cajun and Creole cuisine at the charming Blue Bayou at Disneyland park or partake in a special character dining experience at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Dining reservations can be made via the Disneyland App, Disneyland.com or by calling (714) 781-DINE.

Catch a show. Cozy up in one of our theaters and experience great entertainment. I always love sitting back and enjoying “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” in Disney California Adventure park or encountering Honest Abe in the classic Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in Disneyland park!

Photo: Disney Parks Blog

Shop for Disney souvenirs. Take your time to explore World of Disney, the ultimate shopping destination at the Downtown Disney District. The store’s reimagined layout features uniquely themed areas showcasing the hottest Disney merchandise—you could be there for hours! While in Downtown Disney District, I also recommend immersing yourself in a hyper-reality adventure at The VOID, choosing either Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire or Ralph Breaks VR.

Top 5 Activities for Kids at Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party

Photo: Disney

This Halloween season, children’s cauldrons will bubble over with excitement at the new Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure park. This separately ticketed party for the whole family will feature multiple new experiences – including the new Mickey’s Trick & Treat stage show, immersive treat trails and the new “World of Color” nighttime spectacular – “Villainous!

Little ones will be treated (and maybe even tricked!) to multiple surprises! Here are the top 5 activities for kids at Oogie Boogie Bash:

  • Mickey’s Trick & Treat – Perfect for little monsters, this new, interactive stage production invites kids of all ages to join Mickey Mouse and his pals as they throw a one-of-a-kind Halloween party! Enjoy dancing, not-so-frightening scary-tales and candy at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
  • Villains Grove – Transformed into a wondrous and ethereal world inspired by Disney villains unlike anything seen before, Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will become Villains Grove, tricked out in a dreamlike environment perfect for kids to explore. This family-friendly experience will entice your children with a series of Halloween scenes, each creating a not-so-scary symphony of sound, light and shadows for you and your little ones to explore together!
  • Immersive Treat Trails – Take your tiny tykes trick-or-treating at the new, wonderfully wicked treat trails throughout the park. Little ones will be able to see Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” and even Oogie Boogie himself! Additional treat trails will feature oversized cauldrons full of treats for children of all ages to enjoy.
  • “Frightfully Fun Parade” – Children will love dancing along to this fan-favorite parade coming to Disney California Adventure park for the first time! The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow starts the procession, followed by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who lead the cavalcade of characters and many mischievous Disney villains who are ready to stir up some trouble along the parade route. Children will love seeing their favorite characters dance and singing to the spell-binding songs of the Halloween season!
  • “Villainous!” – Kids will love watching the twisted tale about the young girl Shelley Marie in the new “World of Color” nighttime spectacular. This Halloween story takes you on an unforgettable journey through devious encounters with The Queen, Ursula, Dr Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and more! Children will be dazzled with the special effects—from the fountains and lights, to lasers and projections. “Villainous!” shows that, deep down, there’s a little villain in all of us!

This spook-tacular Halloween party would not be a Halloween bash without dressing up! Kids and their parents are encouraged to dress in costume for the occasion.

Oogie Boogie Bash, which takes the place of Mickey’s Halloween Party, is only offered on 20 select nights this fall, starting Sept. 17. For more information, including costume policy guidelines and to purchase tickets, visit Disneyland.com/HalloweenParty.

Oogie Boogie has cast his spell and summoned the Disney villains to scare up thrilling surprises for everyone. What treats (or tricks!) will be in Oogie Boogie’s bag this year? Let’s take a look at the exclusive new experiences and unforgettable Halloween fun and that will be offered for party guests this year:

“Villainous!” – Partygoers of all ages will love watching this new tale about a young girl named Shelley Marie as she journeys along this new “World of Color” nighttime spectacular – exclusive to Oogie Boogie Bash. This Halloween story takes you on an unforgettable voyage through devious encounters with The Queen, Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and more! All ages will be amazed by the show’s special effects—from the fountains and lights, to lasers and projections. “Villainous!” shows that, deep down, there’s a little villain in all of us!

Photo: Disney

Villains Grove – Have you ever wanted to peer inside the minds of your favorite villains and walk through their own hauntingly beautiful scenes? This walk-through experience is unlike anything seen before. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail becomes Villains Grove: an interactive, villain-inspired, dreamlike environment perfect for all ages to wander. DescenDANCE Party – For even more fun, head to the Backlot area of Hollywood Land for a pulsing, new interactive dance party inspired by the popular “Descendants” franchise from Disney Channel. A spell is cast, summoning the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost to throw down and lead everyone in moves that are set to the biggest hit songs from all three “Descendants” movies. The original “Villain Kids” might even crash the party through magic mirrors. Stick around after as the Backlot DJ continues to spin tunes, inviting everyone to step onto the dance floor into the night. Like the original VK’s said, “there’s so many ways to be wicked”!

Of course, there will also be plenty of opportunities to mingle with Disney characters – and villains, too! “Ghouls” and “boils” of all ages should come dressed up in their best Halloween costumes.
