We absolutely love Disney cruises! They are such a perfect blend of relaxation, entertainment, and Disney magic! We’ve taken four Disney cruises just within the last 18 months and have found that there are some items that can be really helpful to have with you to make your experience even more enjoyable! So, today, we wanted to share with you 15 things to bring on a Disney cruise!
Things to Bring on a Disney Cruise for Onboard Fun
Pirate Night Attire: One of my favorite parts of a Disney cruise is Pirate Night! (almost) Every Disney Cruise Line sailing offers a pirate night with a deck party, late night buffet, and fireworks at sea. Your dinner menu will even be themed to celebrate. You’ll receive bandanas from your stateroom host or hostess, but our kids always love glow sticks, costumes, eye patches, and tattoos.
Autograph Book or Photo Mat: You will have the opportunity to meet a number of Disney characters throughout your sailing! Many guests ask the characters to sign an autograph book so they can keep the signatures all together in one place. We also love these photo mats so that we can display our favorite vacation memory inside when we return home.
Fish Extender Holder: A popular experience for many Disney Cruise Line guests is the fish extender gift exchange. This gift exchange is generally organized through your cruise’s Facebook group prior to sailing. It is a fun way to exchange gifts with fellow cruisers. Some guests will also leave “pixie dust” gifts for fellow cruises without any type of organized exchange. To participate, you’ll need a fish extender holder for your gifts to hang outside of your stateroom.
Candy or Snacks for Movies & Shows: One of the few things not included in your cruise fare is the popcorn and candy available outside of the theaters. We can’t help you resist the fresh buttered popcorn smell, but you can bring prepackaged candy and snacks to enjoy during the evening Broadway style shows and movies onboard.
Magnets: Disney Cruise staterooms doors are magnetic so you can decorate your door. Show off your Disney side with magnets that can be customized with your family name, ship, sail date, and more! We also love this port hole Mickey that fits around your stateroom door’s port hole.
Things to Bring on a Disney Cruise to Use In Your Stateroom
Laundry Bag: Space is limited in a cruise stateroom so it can be nice to have a dedicated location for dirty clothes. Although your suitcases fit under your bed, you probably won’t want to have to pull them out to put dirty clothes away. We recommend packing a laundry bag or pop up hamper to save space and keep all of your dirty clothes easily together in one place.
Shoe Rack: As you may know, space is often at a premium in cruise staterooms. Although Disney does offer some of the largest staterooms, you can maximize your space with a shoe rack. It can be a great way to store toiletries in the bathroom or even drink cups and kids toys in the stateroom.
Clothes Pins:Clothes pins can be really useful to have in your stateroom with wet swim suits. There is a clothes line that can be hung across your bath tub. You can fit more on the line and not have to worry about anything falling off when you can secure them with clothes pins.
Night Light: If you’re in an inside stateroom, it can be pretty dark in there at night. If you are traveling with little ones or just want to be able to easily find your way around the room at night, we recommend packing a night light.
Dry Erase Board: Many guests hang a dry erase board on their (magnetic) stateroom door. This way, your fellow cruisers can leave messages or artwork. You never know who might leave you a message. It’s also especially helpful if you are traveling with any family and friends.
Magnetic Hooks: You may also find a magnetic hook helpful for hanging your lanyard inside your stateroom. These can also be used for jackets, wet swim suits, and more.
Things to Bring on a Disney Cruise to Make Travel Easier
Tumblers/Cups/Water Bottles: Soft drinks are included with your cruise fare. They are readily available up on the pool deck during your Disney cruise. Although Disney provides small paper cups, we enjoy bringing something bigger and more portable like these water bottles. We especially love our stainless steel Mickey Tervis for both hot and cold beverages!
Sea Band or Non-Drowsy Dramamine: If you are concerned about motion sickness, we highly recommend packing sea bands and/or non-drowsy dramamine. It’s always better to be prepared. We’ve found rougher seas going in and out of port so you may want something to help relieve discomfort before the gift shops have opened. You can even order some dramamine for kids.
Reusable Straws: In an effort to be more environmentally responsible, Disney has eliminated plastic straws on board. Although you can request paper straws, we find that they are difficult for small children. They don’t hold up very well so we prefer to bring reusable straws like these metal straws or these silicone straws. The silicone straws even come with a cleaning brush and portable case.
Lanyards: You will receive a plastic Key to the World card for your room key and all purchases onboard. We find it convenient to wear a lanyard to easily access (and remember) our Key to the World card. We recommend one of these fun Mickey and friends lanyards.

Disney Cruise Line has just announced their sailings for the beginning of 2021 so you can view departure ports and itineraries for an early 2021 Disney Cruise and even book your cruise beginning Thursday, October 3, 2019.
In early 2021, Disney Cruise Line plans to return to New Orleans, giving you even more opportunities to sail from the Crescent City with your family in early 2021. A limited-time engagement with cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean, including visits to Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay, highlight Disney Cruise Line’s early 2021 lineup of popular itineraries, while voyages will continue across the fleet to tropical destinations from Galveston, Texas; San Diego, California and both Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida.
The Disney Wonder Returns to New Orleans
On sailings from New Orleans, you can experience the flavors and flair of the Big Easy both onboard the Disney Wonder and ashore. The sounds and sights of New Orleans will come to life at Tiana’s Place restaurant, where your family is transported to an era of southern charm, spirited jazz and street party celebrations with live music and other surprises inspired by the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog.” Before or after your cruise, savor the city’s distinct cuisine, visit family-friendly museums and parks, and take in the sounds of world-renowned live jazz music.
The series of magical voyages from New Orleans kicks off in late January 2021 with a pair of four- and five-night cruises to the Western Caribbean. The five-night voyage includes a visit to Progreso, Mexico, a new port of call for Disney Cruise Line on the Yucatan Peninsula. This quaint town is filled with treasures for your family to explore together, from ancient Mayan ruins to hidden swimming holes filled with crystal-clear water.
Three seven-night sailings to the Bahamas with a stop at Castaway Cay, plus a 14-night Panama Canal cruise, round out the departures from the Crescent City in early 2021.
Popular Itineraries from Texas and Californiaon the Disney Wonder
The Disney Wonder will also return to the popular home ports of Galveston and San Diego in early 2021. On sailings from Texas, you can enjoy the white-sand beaches of the Western Caribbean on a series of four- and six-night cruises to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. One seven-night departure will feature stops at Key West, Nassau and Castaway Cay.
Following the season in New Orleans, the Disney Wonder heads to the West Coast for a variety of sailings to Baja and the Mexican Riviera departing from San Diego. On cruises ranging from three to seven nights, your family can hunt for gold aboard a pirate ship in Cabo San Lucas, embark on an off-road adventure in Ensenada or sunbathe on glittering sand beaches.
Bahamian and Caribbean Getaways from Florida on the Disney Magic, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Dream
Disney Cruise Line will have three ships sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean from Florida in early 2021, and every cruise includes a day at Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay. This award-winning destination, reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests, is the ultimate escape for everyone in your family. A day at Castaway Cay offers opportunities for adventure and relaxation in a lush, tropical setting filled with classic Disney storytelling.
From Miami, the Disney Magic will sail three-, four- and five-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises
From Port Canaveral, the Disney Fantasy will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries
From Port Canaveral, the Disney Dream will sail three- and four-night Bahamian cruises
With a variety of options from Florida, your family can experience spectacular cruises full of fun and relaxation – featuring Broadway-style shows, immersive themed dining, imaginative kids clubs, character encounters and spaces for everyone in your family.

Disney Cruise Line has finally announced itineraries for their four ships from September through December 2020 so you can now start planning your late 2020 Disney cruise. Sailings will be departing from ports in Florida, California, New York, and Texas. The always popular themed sailings will also return with Halloween on the High Seas during most September and October cruises while Very MerryTime Cruises will bring festive fun to most November and December 2020 sailings.
Halloween on the High Seas
Halloween on the High Seas returns to Disney Cruise Line in September and October 2020 with spooky good times for the entire family. On select sailings across the fleet, guests can enjoy a “mouse-querade” costume party, lively entertainment, ghoulish food and beverage delights, trick-or-treating, seasonal kids’ activities, a villainous party just for adults and a ghostly ship takeover with elaborate décor and a magical pumpkin tree.
Very MerryTime Cruises
From early November through December, the Disney Cruise Line fleet is decked from bow-to-stern with holiday cheer and entertainment during Very Merrytime Cruises. Holiday adventures are unwrapped for the whole family with merry parties, a tree lighting ceremony, festive activities, special food and beverage surprises, favorite characters in their finest holiday attire, a winter wonderland ball with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a flurry of “Frozen” snowfall.
Sailings to Bermuda and Canada from New York
The Disney Magic returns to New York in October for sailings to Bermuda and Canada, all featuring Halloween on the High Seas. Three five-night cruises offer two days in Bermuda, giving guests extra time to indulge in the island’s famous pink-sand beaches, abundant water activities, stylish shopping and distinctive blend of British and Caribbean culture.
One five-night cruise will visit Canada’s charming seaport cities including Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada’s oldest incorporated city, which is home to outdoor activities and an impressive natural phenomenon called the “reversing falls rapids.” Guests on this sailing will also visit Halifax, the provincial capital of Nova Scotia. Rich in maritime history, Nova Scotia boasts Victorian-style public gardens and one of the world’s largest natural harbors.
Baja and Mexican Riviera Voyages from California
The Disney Wonder sets sail from San Diego in September, with Halloween on the High Seas cruises to Baja and the Mexican Riviera. Baja itineraries of two, three, four and five nights highlight the region’s famous beaches and water activities with calls on Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico. One seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise, with additional stops in Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta, completes the southern California sailings. On Nov. 6, the Disney Wonder departs San Diego for a 14-night Panama Canal crossing.
Bahamas and Caribbean Cruises from Texas
From late November through December, the Disney Wonder will make Galveston, Texas, its homeport for Very Merrytime Cruises to the Caribbean and Bahamas, with four-, five-, six- and seven-night sailings. Two of the sailings give you the opportunity to visit Sicily, where you can visit landmarks such as Mount Etna, the highest and most active volcano in Europe, or the Piazza del Duomo, the city’s historic center. The third cruise features a return to the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The Mediterranean cruises aren’t the only European itineraries with new ports of call. The Disney Magic’s grand tour of Europe in the summer of 2020 includes new stops in Gdynia, Poland; Nordfjordeid, Norway; Plymouth, England; and Zeebrugge, Belgium, offering you new ways to see the Baltic, British Isles and Norwegian fjords.

Carnival Cruise Line Named Most Trusted Cruise Line By Reader’s Digest
For the second consecutive year, Carnival Cruise Line has been named Most Trusted Cruise Line in America by Reader’s Digest.
The award is based on a poll of more than 5,000 Americans nationwide who were asked to rate products they trust across 40 different categories in areas such as quality, value, and reliability. Carnival received more votes than any other cruise line. The awards are featured in the October issue of Reader’s Digest.
Carnival continues to enhance its onboard offerings, building upon its brand promise of providing fun, memorable vacations at a great value while keeping up with consumer trends and exceeding the expectations of its guests.
Earlier this year marked the debut of the line’s newest, largest and most innovative ship, Carnival Vista, which offers such groundbreaking features as the SkyRide aerial attraction, the first IMAX Theatre at sea, the RedFrog Pub & Brewery that includes the line’s first on-board brewery and the fleet’s largest water park highlighted by the 455-foot-long Kaleid-o-Slide.
Carnival has also expanded upon its exclusive partnerships with Food Network star Guy Fieri with plans to roll out the new Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse on several ships and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, serving as the Official Seagoing Headquarters for The Cat in the Hat’s presidential campaign, part of the fleetwide Seuss at Sea program.
Carnival is also a major supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, raising more than $10 million for the hospital since launching its Care to Play: Carnival for St. Jude Kids program in 2010. As part of its Honor. Family. Fun. program honoring Operation Homefront, an organization that assists military families, Carnival will be hosting an exclusive shipboard concert for military families by seven-time Grammy Award-winning country music superstar Carrie Underwood aboard the new Carnival Vista when it makes its U.S. arrival in November.
The Carnival Journeys enrichment series is also expanding with more than 20 voyages visiting spectacular ports throughout Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and other destinations.
“Vacations are more important than ever and as America’s Cruise Line we consider it an honor that our guests entrust us with their well-deserved vacations year after year,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival’s president. “Being named America’s Most Trusted Cruise Line by the readers of Reader’s Digest for two years running is a testament to our focus on providing our guests with unforgettable vacations as well as the incredible effort put forth by our team members, both on board and ashore,” she added.

Peek Behind the Scenes at Royal Caribbean’s Entertainment Studio
Royal Caribbean International may be reinventing entertainment at sea, but it takes the mammoth Royal Caribbean Production Studio ashore to support the fleet and its growing list of live shows.
To learn more about the 132,500-square-foot facility and its 300-seat theater, 14 full-size stage studios, 10 rehearsal studios, 20,000-square-foot costume-making area, audio rooms, gym and housing, watch a behind-the-scenes video released by the line, hosted at Popular Cruising YouTube channel and embedded below.
The biggest entertainment producer in the world requires the complex that is actually situated at Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay campus in Miami, Florida — complete with adjacent dormitories for about 500 cast members, singers, dancers and choreographers.
“Our entertainment operation is so huge,” said Nick Weir, VP, Entertainment, Royal Caribbean International. “Here, this is a 130,000 square foot studio. I don’t think there’s a bigger studio in the world unless you go to Hollywood and you go to the big film studios.”
As to the physical scale, the studios include ones that are three decks in height. Weir added, “We’ve got the headroom to do any kind of flying show anywhere in the world. Doesn’t matter what show it is, we’ve got the facility and the equipment for it.”
In fact, Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited (RCCL) has built studios that are indicative of the exact size of the venues aboard the ships – the largest cruise ship in the world, Harmony of the Seas’ included – that will host the shows practiced here.
“This facility here at the RCCL entertainment studios is a one-of-a-kind,” explained Christi Coachman-Orengo, Director, Entertainment, Royal Caribbean Productions. “It’s a state-of-the-art facility where we produce all of our theater shows, aqua shows, centrum vignettes, you name it. We do it all here.”
The facility even includes specific vocal rooms and a recording studio, and the costuming department makes all the wardrobe, maintains some 30,000 pieces and manages about 4,000 pairs of shoes. Plus, there is an enlarged storage area that can accommodate far more actual rehearsal scenery than the company ever could before.
“I think for the cast members that come here, coming to a professional environment like this really helps up everybody’s game, said Alison Frazier, Entertainment Consultant. “It’s very special to work in a fantastic facility like this.”
Specific shows that have been produced here encompass the likes of “Grease” and “The Fine Line” that are now housed in Harmony of the Seas’ Royal Theater and AquaTheater respectively.
Plus, don’t forget if you book any cruise with us this month, you will receive a FREE onboard credit!

There’s no better time to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise vacation than during the holiday season. Give yourself and your family a royal gift during the holiday season, and break free from the stress of doing it all on your own. Today, we want to share with you the top five reasons to book a holiday cruise on Royal Caribbean:
New Memories for Kids
On ships offering the DreamWorks experience, even Shrek and Puss in Boots dress for the occasion. Family story time and movie screenings are even more special while sailing on a Royal Caribbean ship. The stateroom attendants can’t wait to show off their folding skills with some new towel animals.
Holiday Inspired Cuisine
Christmas onboard brings roasted Vermont turkey with a savoury apple and chestnut stuffing and festive drinks. During Hanukkah, order a traditional brisket with potato pancakes, apple sauce and sour cream. You can keep traditions from home, eat cookies with Santa and have a hot chocolate while watching a movie.
Traditional Holiday Entertainment Reimagined
The season is brought to life with traditional events on December’s festive season voyages. See Santa Claus in a parade, take photos with him, and join in with the festivities. The entire family can build ornaments and decorate cookies. Don’t forget to drop off your letter to Santa in the promenade.
Holiday Shopping at Sea
Once at sea, you can stock up on all the gifts and gift packages you need with special festive deals that you can only get on our cruises. Save on all onboard shops and be the first to snag a bargain when we countdown to our festive shopping events. Best of all: shop duty-free!
Religious Services
Attend religious services at sea on all cruises sailing during Hannukah and Christmas. Services are performed by rabbis, priests and reverends, so you don’t have to miss the reason for the season.
Plus, if you book your cruise with us by October 31, you will receive an onboard credit!

CLIA Reveals Why There Has Never Been a Better Time to Book a Europe Cruise
According to Cruise Critic readers, eight out of ten dream of taking a European Cruise but half of those polled think it’s unaffordable. Not true, according to Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) Certified Travel Agency, CruiseOne/Dream Vacations. From unprecedented affordability to seasonal events, CLIA experts reveal why now is the time to experience Europe from the comforts of an ocean or river cruise.
“There has never been a better time for travelers to take advantage of the European travel deals and the far-reaching dollar to cross international destinations off of their bucket lists. A European cruise is the perfect way to do so,” said Drew Daly, General Manager of Network Engagement & Performance, CruiseOne/Dream Vacations.
Top Five Reasons Why Now is the Time to Cruise to Europe:
1.) Affordable Airfare: Travelers looking for the best value are in luck as the fall season typically lends itself to plenty of discounted airfare both domestically and internationally, making transportation to a variety of cruise ports more affordable. Furthermore, in an effort to stimulate the European economy, many airlines have also cut prices on flights to Europe this year.
2.) Cruise Line Promotions: Due to a less populated travel season and following the summer travel boom, many cruise lines offer the best pricing to travelers in the fall and winter. CLIA Certified Travel Agents are also finding that travelers can plan an Autumn escape with great rates, including excellent promotions on river cruises that include free airfare, making an inaugural European getaway both attractive and more affordable to first-time cruisers.
3.) Avoiding the Crowds: While Autumn is one of the most beautiful times to travel through Europe, many European destinations are less crowded with tourists and travelers. Those taking advantage of the off-peak travel season may expect less foot traffic allowing for a more relaxed and intimate vacation experience. Additionally, the autumn weather and reduced crowds may lend itself to a better sightseeing experience for travelers enjoying excursions.
4.) Far-Reaching Dollar: In many European destinations, the U.S. dollar is exchanging for higher rates than in the past, making converting currency more favorable for American travelers. Getting more for the dollar helps travelers cruisers do, see and shop more in their European ports of call.
5.) Upcoming Events: There is no shortage of spirited celebrations and events in Europe during the fall and winter months. For example, from September through November, Europe plays host to the iconic Oktoberfest, the world’s largest Volksfest in Munich. Travelers hoping to get in the early holiday spirit can take a river cruise stopping at the famous Christmas Markets in Nuremberg as early as late November. According to CruiseOne/Dream Vacations travel agents, many consumers are jumping at the chance to book Christmas market river cruises this year. Other upcoming events, including the illuminated Brussels Light Festival, offer travelers a chance to partake in cultural events across Europe.
“European cruise travel has never been quite as attainable as it is right now and cruise travelers are at an amazing vantage point in a climate primed for European travel,” said Cindy D’Aoust, president and CEO, CLIA. “Now is a perfect time for travelers to connect with a cruise-certified travel agent to book the European vacation of their dreams.”

An Aqua Zone featuring a pool, water slide, a zip line and poolside cabanas is available on site, as well.
Amber Cove also provides easy and convenient access to the nearby historic town of Puerto Plata, named by Christopher Columbus when he discovered the island in 1492 and home to the first fort built by European settlers in the New World. Visitors to the city can shop in the bustling downtown area with artist studios and rum and cigar factories or stroll along the Malecon, a three-mile-long beach-side boardwalk dotted with bars, restaurants and shops.
A robust shore excursion program offering an array of landside experiences including excursions to beautiful beaches, exciting water sports and special culinary, cultural and adventure options, is offered, as well.
