It’s no secret that your honeymoon will be one of the most exciting times in a couple’s life, second only to your wedding day. Even years from now, your friends and family will still be asking you about the most memorable events from your honeymoon. Plus, your honeymoon is just one of many choices you’ll have to make as you plan your wedding. With literally thousands of options to consider for planning your dream trip, I have put together a list of the Top 7 honeymoon Trends for 2023 so you can be sure you’ve booked the perfect honeymoon. These top honeymoon trends will give you a good idea of what the future of “honeymooning” will look like in 2023 and beyond! Enjoy!
1. Planning Earlier than Before
Before the pandemic, it was customary for a couple to book their honeymoon around 6 months out, but as the world has opened up again, many couples are doing what I call “revenge travel” for all of the lost and postponed trips couples have had to deal with these last three years. In 2023, there is higher demand and lower inventory, which also drives up prices.
BOTTOM LINE: The sooner you can discover the destination & resort you want for your honeymoon, and book it, the better!
2. Premium on Service
In 2023, couples are putting a premium on pampering, luxury, and service. They are looking for great value. Not a low price, but a honeymoon that includes extra touches of service, such as a private airport shuttle or having a butler welcome you with a refreshing drink and moist towel, and then entering your honeymoon suite to see a chilled bottle of champagne, with gourmet snacks waiting for you as you enter your honeymoon suite.
3. Bucket List Stays & Experiences
In 2023 couples are looking to do a “bucket list” experience for their honeymoon. More and more couples are expecting their honeymoon to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, including staying in an over-the-water bungalow, a luxury honeymoon suite, or even renting a private yacht. Many couples now want their honeymoon to include some type of archaeological tour or visit to historical landmarks or cities.
PRO TIP: If you don’t quite have the budget for a full 7 or 14-night stay in an over-the-water bungalow, then I always suggest to my clients doing a split stay. Maybe start your honeymoon off with a bang at the more expensive “WOW” factor room, and then finish your honeymoon in a room that allows your whole honeymoon to fit your budget.
4. Group Moons

No, this isn’t a honeymoon for swingers, but many couples who had to postpone their weddings or honeymoons during the pandemic want to make up for the missed opportunities to travel, as well as now being new parents. They still want a big fun celebration, and therefore they are now bringing their closest family and friends to join them to celebrate with them on their honeymoon.
5. Focus on Health & Wellness
Many couples will be planning their honeymoon with a focus on rejuvenating both mind & body. These honeymoons will include an itinerary of farm-to-table food experiences, eating at local fresh food restaurants & markets, as well as pampering spa treatments, sunrise yoga sessions, meditations, and activities that promote all-around health and vitality.
6. Honeymoon Registries
With rising inflation, and couples looking to have an above-average honeymoon experience, many couples will create a honeymoon registry or fund that their family and friends can give as a wedding gift to help them pay for their dream honeymoon.
7. Consulting with a Honeymoon Specialist
In 2023, couples are consulting and hiring a honeymoon specialist to help them make sure they are getting everything they want and the maximum value out of their honeymoon. Couples are busier than ever before as they work, start their family, buy a new home, and try to fit in time for each other, all while trying to plan their wedding. It’s worth the investment to spend a little extra to get their honeymoon planned right, and take the stress & frustration of planning the perfect honeymoon off of their plate!
As you can see, you now have more honeymoon options at your fingertips than ever before. There will always be a place for traditional honeymooners who just want to get away with their new spouse and relax on a beautiful beach. But, if you’re looking for something a little more inspirational, consider some of these trends without sacrificing what’s ultimately important to you for a romantic and pampering honeymoon. These may be 2023 trends, but old-fashioned romance never goes out of style!

National Plan for Vacation Day (NPVD), celebrated on the last Tuesday in January, is a day to encourage Americans to plan their vacation days for the whole year at the start of the year— and inspire them to use those days to travel to and within the United States. Since 2015, when the travel industry and partners began tracking American vacation usage, survey findings have continuously shown that vacation days are not being used, negatively affecting mental health, personal relationships and job performance. National Plan for Vacation Day helps highlight the importance of taking time off to travel—both for our personal health and wellbeing and for the overall economic prosperity of our nation. This year’s National Plan for Vacation Day is on January 25, 2022. Together, using #PlanForVacation, we are reminding Americans to commit—and take—their days off. After two years of living through the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans are feeling burned out and ready for a change of scenery. However, COVID-19 related health and safety concerns and increased workloads have prevented many American workers from using their hard earned time off. Americans are STILL not using all of their vacation days.
American workers left an average of more than four days or 29% of their paid time off on the table last year, but the majority of Americans (64%) say they desperately need a vacation.
Planning Vacations Reduces Burnout

More than two-thirds (68%) of American workers feel at least moderately burned out and 13% are extremely burned out
More than half (53%) of remote workers are working MORE hours now than they were in the office and 61% now find it more difficult to unplug from work
COVID-19 related concerns followed by work related barriers such as heavy workloads and lack of coverage are top reasons preventing Americans from using their paid time off

Americans who plan out their time off take more time off to travel—but one-quarter (24%) of American households don’t do this simple step. As a result, they lose or have to forfeit these days
Planners prioritize traveling with their paid time off, a trend that is expected to continue to rise in 2022 where 53% of planners anticipate traveling more than previous years versus 27% of non-planners
And planners actually do travel more than non-planners. More than half (56%) of Americans who typically planned their time off took an overnight vacation in 2021 compared to 33% of non-planners
Anticipating and planning travel makes Americans happy. Close to three-quarters (74%) of planners reported being extremely or very happy anticipating and planning vacations in the next year versus just four in 10 of non-planners
Avoiding burnout is an even greater motivator to book a trip for non-planners than planners—62% of non-planners rated avoiding burnout as a top motivator compared to 53% of planners

The Disney Wonder will offer Western Caribbean getaways early in 2022. Initially from Galveston, Texas, with four-night itineraries, followed by four- and six-night voyages from New Orleans.
A special six-night Bahamian voyage offered from both Galveston and New Orleans will give guests the opportunity to visit Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island paradise in the Bahamas, in addition to the lively beach town of Key West.
Baja Getaways from San Diego
The Disney Wonder will return to San Diego, California in March and April 2022 with cruises to Baja, Mexico, where you can enjoy vibrant culture, stunning beaches and exciting water activities.
Most sailings to the Baja peninsula call on the charming coastal city of Ensenada, known for its turquoise blue water and rugged mountainous terrain. A two-night cruise to Ensenada has a Friday departure from San Diego, giving you an amazing weekend getaway to experience world-class entertainment aboard the Disney Wonder.
Four- and five-night Baja cruises include a visit to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a popular destination with dramatic rock formations and white-sand beaches, or to Catalina Island, a tropical gem off the California coast with plenty of outdoor adventures and seaside charm.
Early 2022 Disney Cruise Line bookings will open to the public beginning October 22, 2020. Castaway Club members are eligible for early access.
Disney Wish Update
Although the Disney Wish was originally scheduled to sail in early 2022, its maiden voyage has been postponed to summer 2022 as a result of pandemic-related delays at the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Germany. The ship will be slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy at approximately 144,000 gross tons and 1,250 guest staterooms.

Daytime Fun on the Ship
With everything from fun family pools to exclusive spaces for kids and adults alike, Disney cruises are jam-packed with activities for the whole family! Here are the important items you should consider bringing:
Swimsuits and cover ups – Pack at least two options to ensure you can spend as much time at the pool, in the hot tub or riding the AquaDuck as possible!
Shorts, shirts, tank tops and sundresses – You’ll be spending lots of time outside enjoying the sunshine, so pack accordingly for the warmer temps.
Athletic wear and gym shoes – There’s lots of ways to break a sweat on a Disney cruise! Bring clothes to play basketball on Goofy’s Sports Deck or to squeeze in a quick workout at the fitness center. The ocean view from the treadmill can’t be beat!
Evening Entertainment, Dining and Deck Parties
On your Disney cruise, the fun lasts all day! From family and adult-exclusive dining options to Broadway-style entertainment and high-energy deck parties, make sure you come prepared for a different experience each night:
“Cruise casual” dinner attire – Plan to dress “cruise casual” in our main family dining rooms, which means no tank tops or swimwear.
Dressy dining outfits – Bring dressier outfits for semi-formal and formal nights so you can take advantage of the onboard photography services. Those of you who plan to eat at Palo or Remy, be sure to dress to impress while you enjoy your adult-exclusive dinner! Pirate attire – There’s no better place to become a pirate than IN the Caribbean! You’ can transform into pillaging pirates and become a part of the crew during “Pirate Night.” Your “pirate style” can include anything from pirate tee shirts and bandanas to eye patches, pirate hooks and even stuffed parrots!
Light sweater – Temperatures can be cooler in the dining room and theater or out on deck with the evening ocean breeze, so don’t forget to pack a light sweater or jacket, just in case.

When you visit Disney’s award-winning private island, Castaway Cay, everything you need for a perfect day is included, like an all-you-care-to-eat buffet lunch, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, hammocks and more … but you can still pack a few extra items to make the most of your day!
No matter what shore excursions you experience, here are a few helpful packing tips to prepare:
Backpack or collapsible tote bag – This will come in handy for carrying your personal items, as well as toting souvenirs you may buy in port. Considering throwing in some plastic zip-top bags as well in case your belongings get wet during your time ashore.
Lightweight pants, capris or leggings – Shorts and a t-shirt are great for many shore excursions like historical village tours or sightseeing at the ruins…but more active experiences like hiking, climbing or ziplining will be more comfortable with pants.
GoPro or underwater camera – There’s a lot to see and photograph under the water (including some hidden Mickeys at Castaway Cay) so make sure you have a way to capture it all!
Appropriate shoes – Prepare to be on your feet! Bring comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing, sneakers for hiking or biking activities and flip flops or water shoes for a day at the beach.

There are lots of small ways to enhance your Disney cruise experience! Consider packing these fun items as you prepare to come aboard:
Door magnets for your stateroom – Unique decorations will always bring a smile to your face as you return to your room, and it helps families distinguish their door as they head down long hallways. You can bring your own fun magnets, or buy them onboard.
Pajamas – Make sure your kids have at least one pair they are comfortable walking around the ship in. They won’t want to miss pajama parties at the kids clubs or on the last night of your sailing!

Formerly the Aventura Spa Palace, the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya will make a grand debut on May 4 and 5, 2014 with guests, celebrities, and VIPs. The Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya grand opening will even include a performance by Jon Bon Jovi and The Kings of Suburbia.
