Top 5 Tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom

From the Disney Parks Blog:

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Fall arrived early at Magic Kingdom Park this year so it’s time for one of my favorite events of the year, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween PartyMagic Kingdom Park is transformed with glowing jack o lanterns, family-friendly frights and grinning ghosts. But when you combine unlimited candy, lively parades, dazzling fireworks, and characters galore it could be a bit overwhelming for preschoolers. My advice for a spooktacular, stress-free night is to plan, pace and embrace the wicked festivities. Here are a few tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:

1. Get a game plan. What are the must dos? Is the goal to score candy, watch Mickey’s “Boo-To-You” Parade, ride the attractions, or all of the above? Be aware of times for fireworks, shows, character meet and greets and the parade. Arrive early to get prime viewing for the earlier parade. (To avoid any meltdowns, prep your little one about the haunting headless horseman who leads the parade down Main Street, U.S.A., or just skip that part.)

2. Check the weather. If temperatures are soaring, be prepared to shift gears from that fancy princess gown and heels, to a lightweight costume or Halloween-themed t-shirt paired with a themed light-up necklace instead. The kids may put up a fight, but in the end, they will be comfy and happy!

3. Get a head start. Although 7 p.m. is the official start time for the party, you can actually arrive as early as 4 p.m. with your special event ticket. Venture to favorite attractions, indulge in a yummy candy corn milkshake or ice cream cone, and be among the first inside the party to partake in Halloween fun.

4. Dance the night away. The new Storybook Circus Junior Jam dance party features Disney Junior stars like Vampirina and Doc McStuffins. Kids will love to rock out with their pals and burn off some energy!

5. Indulge in the treats. With more than a dozen trick or treat locations scattered throughout the park it’s tough to monitor the sugar intake. Note that there are healthy treats to behold as well as a dedicated allergy-friendly stop, just in case. (But if you are looking to score a big haul of candy bring your own sack or bucket.)

Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party in advance, as space each night is limited. (There is a savings of $10 per ticket when you purchase in advance for most nights!) 17. Ka-Chow! Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy rolls into Disney’s Hollywood Studios in spring 2019. In this new show experience, you’ll come face to face with Lightning and learn from his years of experience on the track.

18. Outside the Racing Academy, you’ll get to meet Lightning McQueen’s speedy pal, Cruz Ramirez.

And finally…

19. If you haven’t visited Walt Disney World Resort recently, then there’s even more for you to explore and experience. Become an honorary toy at Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, travel to the bioluminescent planet of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or wish a fond farewell to “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” – the nighttime spectacular at Epcot– before its conclusion scheduled for the second half of 2019.

Whew…that’s a lot! Now, more than ever you’ll want to be here for it all. Don’t wait to book your 2019 Disney World vacation! Be sure to tell us in the comments which one of these experiences at Disney World in 2019 that you are most looking forward to!

  • Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Cider: This crisp and refreshing cider mixes the sweetness of the apples with a subtle dryness for a balanced cider taste. The fresh apple aroma and slightly sweet, ripe apple flavor make this cider hard to resist.
  • Angry Orchard Rosé Cider: Made with rare, red flesh apples from France. Each apple is crisp, juicy and red to the core, adding an irresistible rosy blush and apple-forward taste with a refreshing dry finish.
  • Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen: Rich, amber-golden color. Deep, inviting, malty nose and bready, wonderful flavor that’s an ode to barley. Medium to big body, with a touch of warming alcohol on the finish.
  • Margarita Cider by 3 Daughters Brewing: Hard cider blended with lime juice and sea salt then aged in tequila barrels for a festive and unique flavor. This semi-sweet apple cider is tart and refreshing and perfect for Florida.
  • Pumpking Imperial Ale by Southern Tier Brewing Co.: This beer gives off hints of pumpkin pie and spice aromas on the nose. Huge flavors of genuine pumpkin pie, nutmeg, and cinnamon come through with a rich and creamy, yet crisp taste.
  • Samuel Adams OctoberFest: The first thing you notice when pouring this seasonal beer is the color. It has a deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the fall season. A malt lover’s dream, this beer offers a delicious harmony of flavors.

WonderFall Flavors at Disney Springs starts September 7 and runs through November 6. If you’re looking to get you fix of fall flavors, then this is definitely the place to be! Top Five Restaurants for Outdoor Dining at Disney Springs

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

One of the best things about Florida is the sunshine waiting for you all year round. It makes Disney World a great place to enjoy al fresco dining options, especially at Disney Springs. Fresh air and fresh food are a winning combination! These five restaurants make for delicious outdoor dining at Disney Springs.

The BOATHOUSE: With picture-perfect views of Lake Buena Vista, you’ll love dining on deck at The BOATHOUSE. Whether you choose a standard table, a high top or the comfy patio furniture (yes, you can get served there, too!), be sure to try the lobster roll. On a warm day, it’s not too heavy in spite of the whole Maine lobster used in every roll, and don’t even get me started about how amazing their French fries are! To drink? A nice IPA fits the bill, but for something extra-refreshing, sip on the Cucumber Cooler.

Frontera Cocina by Chef Rick Bayless at Disney Springs™ will delight friends, family and food-lovers with exciting flavors and a contemporary Mexican experience. Warm colors, an open kitchen and a lively atmosphere frame an inviting exploration of the many delights from the kitchen of six-time James Beard Foundation Awards Winner, Chef Rick Bayless.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Frontera Cocina: A table here gives you a front row seat to one of the best looks at the springs of Disney Springs. Right over the water, you’re almost guaranteed to feel the cool breeze in your hair as you sip your margarita and savor every bite of freshly made hummus, a nice alternative to the equally delicious guacamole. Of course, you’ll also find tacos, tortas and an array of entrees by celebrity chef Rick Bayless, but on a warm day, nothing on the menu beats their Taqueria Salad with Mojo garlic grilled shrimp.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Paddlefish: The third story deck of Paddlefish is one of the best kept secrets at Disney Springs. If you haven’t yet found your way to the open-air rooftop of this iconic paddleboat-inspired seafood restaurant, put it on your “to-do” list. For a special evening out, order the Seafood Tower – everything is fresh and chilled to just the right temperature. The drinks are divine, too … grab a group of friends and treat yourself to a carafe of perfect-for-spring house-made red sangria with Framboise, Crème de Mure, orange juice, tempranillo, and seasonal fruit.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant: For more than a decade, the patio at this authentic Irish pub has been dazzling guests with incredible entertainment on their outdoor stage, all the while serving their full menu of favorites to guests lucky enough to snag an outside table. While you can certainly experience patio dining seven days a week, think about booking a brunch reservation with options like the “Full Irish” (a full Irish breakfast, naturally), “Ellis Isle Steak’n Eggs” and “Pancakes Diaspora”—all pair nicely with the Strawberry Fields Mimosa.

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

STK Orlando: A favorite for late-night, STK Orlando is another great spot for dinner and drinks under the stars (and beneath ambience-adding string lights)! While steak is what they’re known for, and rightly so, the Buratta Salad is delicious, too. Cocktails abound, but for an appealing accompaniment, order a glass of the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, a vibrant, peppery white wine with bold fruit and floral notes.

Date night for two, girls’ brunch, family lunch … whatever the occasion, Disney Springs is the place to enjoy it, especially now with the incredible Central Florida weather!

Top Six Reasons to Spend a Day at Disney World Water Parks

(Photo: Disney Parks Blog)

Summers in Orlando are HOT so what better way to cool off than by paying a visit to Disney World Water Parks. Whether you’re looking for thrills, relaxation, unique treats or even to learn a new skill, Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon have got you covered. So while you prepare for your spring getaway to Walt Disney World Resort, consider these six reasons to add a day at the water parks to your vacation plans.

Awesome Thrill Rides: Get your heart pumping at Blizzard Beach by starting your day taking the plunge down Summit Plummet. At 120 feet high, it’s one of the tallest free-fall water attractions in the world and, by reaching speeds up to 55 mph, it’s a thrilling, downhill rush. At Typhoon Lagoon, Crush ‘n’ Gusher takes riders on inflatable rafts through twists, turns, dips and dives. For more thrills, there’s the Toboggan Racers and Slush Gusher at Blizzard Beach, plus Miss Adventure Falls and Hummunga Kowabunga at Typhoon Lagoon.

The Blizzard Beach Spring Challenge: With obstacle courses, water slide challenges and other interactive games, the Blizzard Beach Spring Challenge, March 10-11 and March 24-25, is the perfect activity for the entire family. And the winners get to take home sweet Blizzard Beach themed giveaways, too!

Unique Lazy Rivers: Castaway Creek and Cross Country Creek are two super relaxing lazy rivers that the whole family can enjoy. Whether floating on inner tubes through ice caves at Blizzard Beach or meandering through a misty rainforest and hidden grotto at Typhoon Lagoon, each lazy river offers an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Private and Relaxing Cabanas: Disney Water Parks offer a private oasis where you can enjoy the water park in a unique way. The Beachcomber Shack Cabanas and Polar Patio Cabanas are premium spaces that provide shade, comfy seating, private lockers and more. While you relax in your Adirondack seats, a service attendant will look after all your food and beverage needs from an a la carte menu. It’s the perfect way for mom and dad to kick back while the kids enjoy the water parks. For reservations and pricing information, please call (407) 939-7529.

Unique meals and snacks: There are a variety of unique treats that can be found at Disney Water Parks. You’ll find options such as the slow pulled pork on a burger (with grilled pineapple!), Korean beef or chicken rice bowl, crisp salads and seafood baskets. And dessert? You can’t go wrong with the sand pail sundae – chocolate and vanilla soft-serve ice cream, waffle cone pieces, Oreo cookie pieces, sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream and a cherry on top – or the world-famous warm mini donuts!

Learn to Surf at Typhoon Lagoon: Did you know you can book a surf lesson at Typhoon Lagoon? Guests can participate in Learn to Surf at Typhoon Lagoon before the water park opens and spend a couple of hours with professional instructors, trying to catch the perfect wave. Surf lessons come with a light breakfast as well as photography, so you can share your experience with all your friends back home. For more information about how to book surf lessons, call (407) 939-7529.

See you at the Disney World water parks!
